Chapter 226: The Pioneer Empire Shrouded in Nightmares
Chapter 226: The Pioneer Empire Shrouded in Nightmares
In Qin Muye's eyes, the hell on the Pioneer Empire's home planet was not sealed but open, with a terrifying layer of hellish power covering the entire surface of the planet, trapping everything in a nightmare.
This was the first thing he saw, and his heart was filled with increasing frustration.
The Pioneer Empire had not yet been destroyed, but the mental torment was inevitable.
An intangible force of hell discovered Qin Muye's interdimensional floating city suspended above the Pioneer Empire's home planet and was trying to seep in little by little. However, the interdimensional maze was incredibly strong, and this force could not penetrate it, only circling around the perimeter. Qin Muye detected its fluctuations.
The operating magic network extended its tentacles, firmly grasping this intangible hellish force. The other side seemed to realize the danger and wanted to retreat, but Qin Muye's strength was far greater. With the enhancement of the divine artifact, he directly pulled it in.
Since the other side wanted to come in, Qin Muye would let it in, and then it couldn't blame him for a group attack.
Unfortunately, what was pulled in was just a projection, not the true body, or perhaps its essence was special, similar to a dream creature.
A middle-aged man appeared on the square, wearing a red and green striped sweater, a black top hat on his head, and a sharp metal claw on his right hand. He was extremely malnourished, skeletal, and covered in burn scars, appearing rather confused.
Around him were powerful goblins, all of whom had been enhanced by the divine artifact "End of All Things." Naturally, the presence of an enemy in the territory would trigger this effect.
Qin Muye also saw the visitor clearly through a remote video.
It was the Nightmare King Freddy.
Qin Muye's frustration grew. First, Jason destroyed the Iron Blood Civilization, and now Freddy was tormenting the Pioneer Empire with nightmares. These killers were truly epic-level enhanced.
Each one could single-handedly challenge a civilization. From the thread of the dream projection on Freddy, the real Freddy was likely a 6th-rank existence.
Moreover, he was no longer limited to wreaking havoc in dreams but could also distort reality without losing his power.
However, once inside Qin Muye's interdimensional floating city, things were different. His territory was loaded with the divine authority of both hell and the Titan god race, making it far superior to ordinary hell.
Thus, Freddy's dream distortion was completely ineffective here. The sword of the previous dynasty could not cut the officials of the current dynasty.
Freddy was quickly captured and beaten severely, almost to the point of death.
Fortunately, the goblins knew their limits and left him a breath of life before throwing him into the dungeon.
Qin Muye generally did not meet visitors, but he was genuinely curious, especially about someone like Freddy. He had to extract some information from him.
Seeing Qin Muye, Freddy lost his arrogance. Not everyone could remain defiant.
"Could you tell me how you came to this planet?" Qin Muye asked.
Freddy was honest, a habit formed from his twisted nature, which sometimes led to slips of the tongue.
"I didn't come here on my own; they invited me." Freddy's expression showed a sense of intoxication, as if recalling something beautiful.
But this so-called 'beauty' was only beautiful to Freddy; for others, it was a nightmare.
"Let's not talk about that. I just want to ask, given the eerie appearance of the Pioneers, you could still lay a hand on them. I remember you prefer children, much like priests and pastors, but they usually prefer young boys," Qin Muye said slowly.
This seemed to hit a nerve with Freddy, who looked angry and wanted to attack Qin Muye. However, before he could even extend his hand, the tentacles of the Apocalypse struck first, giving him a severe beating and even damaging his metal claw.
"What, you can't even take a joke? How can you be so narrow-minded?" Qin Muye stood there, unaffected, as he was just teasing.
He knew that Freddy wouldn't talk, as he was not the real Freddy but just a thread of hellish power similar to a dream.
"I..."
"Enough, stop with the 'I.' Apocalypse, take him to the operating table."
Qin Muye didn’t think too much about it. What was there to talk about with Freddy? He decided to dispose of Freddy, take the technological advancements of the Pioneer Empire, and leave. He didn’t want to deal with the remaining issues; he just wanted to get out of there.
Freddy was quickly placed on the operating table, his eyes filled with malice as he stared at the various devices, seemingly plotting how to torture Qin Muye.
Qin Muye, however, didn’t care. If Freddy could break through his defenses, it was only because he had a strong will.
"First, let’s start with a simple dissection to understand your structure. After all, you’re not the real body, so I don’t know if you have a normal physical structure."
With that, Qin Muye tore off Freddy’s sweater, which was disgustingly dirty, having not been washed for who knows how long.
The body was extremely emaciated, the bones clearly visible.
"Good news, I can see the sternum and ribs, so perhaps other organs are present as well."
"Don’t look at me like that. Medical technology has advanced a lot, so at least you don’t have to worry about me not using anesthesia."
He looked at Freddy, vaguely recalling a certain unlucky cave hero who had been subjected to surgery without anesthesia. It was a testament to the duality of fortune and misfortune that this cave hero was now locked in a prison, at least ensuring a stable life with three meals a day and no immediate danger, and even avoiding the risk of being dissected due to his lack of value.
Qin Muye administered a local anesthetic to Freddy, but it seemed to have little effect.
However, Qin Muye didn’t care. He had given the anesthesia, and whether it worked or not was none of his concern. After all, it wasn’t him who would be in pain, and he knew how to control his actions.
There would be no major bleeding or accidental slicing of vital organs.
"Hmm, a normal human structure. Your physical condition is really poor, just at the level of an ordinary person," Qin Muye commented.
Compared to Jason, Freddy’s physical condition was truly lacking. He had the killing power of a 6th-rank entity but lacked the corresponding physical strength.
But upon deeper reflection, Qin Muye realized that Freddy was essentially immortal, which explained his condition.
One could infinitely resurrect, and the other was immortal. These were significant advantages.
Freddy didn’t need strong physical attributes; his domain was in dreams, where anything could happen if one had the courage.
However, this ability was of no use to Qin Muye, who didn’t sleep and thus never dreamed.
Even if he did sleep, Freddy wouldn’t have the power to enter his dreams. Qin Muye’s surroundings were protected by various magical beings, and dreams were not invincible. If Freddy tried to enter his dreams, the magical beings would follow the magic network into the dream and beat him up.
Most importantly, Qin Muye rarely left his mage tower, where various enhancements and effects boosted his combat power to around the 6th rank, though at the peak of that level. He would not be a match for a 7th-rank entity.
Even though his rank was only 4th, rank and combat power were different. If his rank alone determined his combat power, all his artifacts, talents, and skills would be useless. With such a luxurious lineup, having only 4th-rank combat power would be a waste. He would have no reason to strive if everything depended solely on rank.
As he delved deeper into Freddy’s dissection, Qin Muye discovered some peculiarities. Freddy wasn’t quite human, as he was more of a dream entity than a real being. Yet, he had all the necessary organs and reactions, at least in terms of pain, which he expressed by baring his teeth.
Qin Muye prevented Freddy from speaking, fearing he might curse him, and quickly wiped the blood from his hands. "You’re quite impressive, managing to simulate hell. Unfortunately, it’s not the real hell, and you’re not the Lord of Hell."
"I suspect you escaped from some hell and started your own operation, spreading nightmares across the entire planet to create an environment similar to hell."
