Chapter 226: The Messenger
Chapter 226: The Messenger
"Please pardon the wait, honored guest~"
After a few minutes, the female demon had arrived at the private room Yu Xuan had chosen within the Blood Charm Palace. She was dressed even more scantily than before, swaying her hips and swinging her black tail as she walked.
The room was tastefully decorated, filled with a faint exotic fragrance. A large soft couch sat in the center, surrounded by sheer curtains, and a delicate table held an assortment of unknown demonic treats.
"I need to ask two questions first," Yu Xuan gestured for the demon to stop.
She blinked and smiled coyly, "Guest, you've been so generous. Ask whatever you like, not just two questions, and I promise to answer truthfully."
While he had been generous, it wasn't with his own money. After all, he didn't have any demon currency. The money he'd spent belonged to the Warden, taken from the stash he'd pocketed before leaving the bunker. Yu Xuan didn't recognize the demon currency and had no idea how much it was worth, but judging by the demon's expression when she received the payment, as if she were venerating a father figure, he guessed it must be a substantial amount.
"Who is the guest directly above us in the room above?" Yu Xuan asked.
"Eh?"
The female demon was taken aback, clearly not expecting such a question.
She hesitated and then shook her head, "I don't know."
"You don't know, or you're unwilling to say?"
She smiled awkwardly, "Guest, you know our rules here. All guest information is confidential, and each private room is completely independent.
We guarantee that whatever happens within a room stays within that room, and no outsider will ever know. After all, you wouldn't want us to divulge your information either, would you?"
"Reasonable," Yu Xuan thought for a moment, "So, each of your rooms here is completely independent, and you only accommodate one guest at a time, right?"
"Of course."
She proudly patted her chest, her ample bosom jiggling with the motion.
"I understand," Yu Xuan nodded.
The demon blinked again, "So, can we begin now?"
"What? Oh yes, go ahead. It might hurt a bit, so please bear with it."
The demon burst into giggles.
"I've heard that a lot. But don't worry, despite my appearance, I have a sturdy body that can take a lot of punishment, so I'm not afraid."
"Good," Yu Xuan nodded and looked behind her, "You may proceed."
"Eh?"
The female demon stiffened, turning instinctively to see the Silent Magician, who had appeared silently behind her, bringing her staff down on the demon's head without a change in her expression.
Bang.
The demon's vision darkened, and she collapsed, falling unconscious.
Silent retracted her staff and withdrew to Yu Xuan's side without a word.
Perhaps it was an illusion, but despite her silence and unchanging expression, there seemed to be a hint of satisfaction in her eyes as she looked at the fallen demon—
—As if to say, "I never liked you anyway."
Ignoring the unconscious demon on the floor, Yu Xuan asked, "Are you certain it's right above us?"
"Yes," the Chaos Warrior spoke up, "Now that we're this close, I can confirm it."
"Good."
Yu Xuan climbed through the window and onto the stone platform outside, resembling a balcony. Silent leaped with him, jumping directly from the outside to the window of the platform above.
Yu Xuan remained calm and collected, opting to observe quietly from his position outside rather than rushing in.
A voice could be heard from within, "God's Messenger, you're so amazing~"
Then came a rough male voice, "Don't call me that.
"Heh, there's no rush. Those bunker folks must be racking their brains, guessing who the messenger is, and getting all worked up. Let them stew in their juices for a few more days."
The rugged male voice laughed.
You Xuan: ". . ."
So, this was the legendary messenger? Instead of working, he was enjoying himself in a place like this, and who knew if he was even spending public funds? You Xuan thought that their anti-corruption work in regards to Orichalcum had a long way to go.
However, this encounter was truly effortless. It seemed that he would finally complete the bunker's 100% full collection achievement today after all.
Boom!
A sudden attack, an explosion right where he was hiding. The window and wall were blown to smithereens, and thick smoke billowed.
The rugged male voice turned cold, "Daring to spy on my actions, do you tire of living?"
However, as the smoke slowly dissipated, a milky-white magical barrier surrounded You Xuan, who stood unharmed within it. Smiling, he said, "Unexpectedly alert, God's Messenger."
Only now did he see that the so-called "God's Messenger" was a red beastman with a ferocious visage, boar-like tusks, and a robust physique.
A Duel Monster, [Large Livestock], a four-star with 1800 attack points.
And the female voice from the room turned out to be a beastman as well, resembling a leopard-type monster. She had elegant body curves, deep cerulean fur adorned with silver-white stars, and sparkling cat-like eyes.
You Xuan, being single for a long time, couldn't help but appreciate the beauty, thinking that there should be some seasoned gentlemen who would enjoy this sight, even if he himself couldn't.
No matter how he looked at it, she was a standing leopardess.
"You, with the power of the sprite, dare to defy the Holy Church as a duelist?"
As he spoke, the messenger narrowed his eyes, let out a hmph, and raised his arm. A crimson-fleshed Duel Disk soon appeared in his hand, along with a deck that emerged from it.
"I don't know which tribe or path you're from, but to dare to stand before me—a chosen messenger blessed by the gods—is to seek death."
You Xuan smiled but didn't respond. Instead, he activated his Duel Disk.
"Duel!" x2
[You Xuan, LP: 4000]
[Messenger, LP: 4000]
"Let's begin with me taking the first turn! Draw!"
The messenger drew a card, scanned the four cards in his hand, and then cruelly smiled.
"Hmph, right off the bat, I drew a crucial card blessed by the gods!"
He raised one of the cards in his hand with his thick claw-like hand.
"I activate a Field Spell Card! 'Orichalcum Barrier'!"
A towering green light shone, and a hexagram appeared beneath their feet. The barrier of the evil god enveloped the field, and the green glow pierced the clouds.
The spectacle immediately drew the attention of demons nearby, and even those passing by outside the building cast reverent and fearful glances, some even prostrating themselves in worship.
After all, this was a Sprite City already occupied by Orichalcum, and seeing the barrier was like witnessing the arrival of a deity.
"Hehe, looks like you're out of luck, kid." The messenger coldly smiled.
"Indeed, now even if you regret it and want to escape, it's too late." You Xuan also smiled, "It seems you're trapped here with me."
Messenger: "???"
