Chapter 225: Harvest
Chapter 225: Harvest
September 25, 2017
With Wang Hao's death, Lu HaiKong's operation had finally reached its conclusion.
Those who needed saving were saved, and those who deserved death were slain. Lu HaiKong didn't linger in Wang Hao's territory any longer than necessary.
The primary objective of this operation for Lu HaiKong was to rescue Li Xiong, with killing Wang Hao as a means of revenge coming second, and looting some resources as an added bonus.
As a mountain bandit, Lu HaiKong had become increasingly adept at his role, never forgetting to grab some loot while setting fires and taking lives.
This time, although it was a side task, Lu HaiKong managed to gather a substantial amount of resources from Wang Hao's territory. Due to Li Xiong's health condition and the presence of skilled captives in their group, they couldn't rush their journey, so Lu HaiKong, with plenty of time on his hands, began to take inventory of their spoils while traveling.
As he tallied their gains, a smile spread across Lu HaiKong's face.
In terms of talent acquisition alone, Lu HaiKong had captured several individuals from Ridge City, and this was only because the Shadow Guards had just arrived at the city less than a day ago and were unfamiliar with the local situation.
Among the talents, the historical scholar Xin Ping was an obvious standout, but he strongly rejected the idea of joining Lu HaiKong's bandit group. Fortunately, Lu HaiKong wasn't too concerned; he was content with either recruiting Xin Ping or imprisoning or killing him if necessary.
Aside from Xin Ping, the Shadow Guards had captured ten skilled individuals, four of whom possessed advanced expertise.
These four included a master blacksmith, a master chef, a teacher with advanced teaching skills, and a master distiller.
Each of these advanced talents was highly valuable, and although Lu HaiKong's mountain camp already had several master blacksmiths, no one would complain about having more skilled workers, especially in such a high-demand profession as blacksmithing.
In comparison, the master chef and master distiller seemed less crucial, but upon further reflection, Lu HaiKong realized that some system buildings, like the wine house, required the presence of a master chef to function. So, capturing a master chef was a sensible decision.
The master distiller, on the other hand, was an even more delightful surprise. Wine and spirits were highly sought-after luxury items among the Xianbei and Xiongnu tribes, and a single bottle of good wine could even be traded for a horse. It was indeed a precious commodity.
As for the advanced teacher, there was no need to elaborate on the importance of such a role in elevating the education and quality of the mountain camp's residents.
Beyond these four advanced talents, the remaining six were less impressive: three intermediate blacksmiths, two intermediate distillers, and one intermediate chef, all apparently captured by the Shadow Guards while they were gathering the advanced talents.
Due to the intimidating reputation of the Shadow Guards and the fact that these individuals were captured from their sleep, the group of ten trembled with fear throughout the journey. However, they all remained relatively compliant, except for Xin Ping, who attempted to resist but was quickly knocked unconscious by Lu HaiKong.
Apart from these talented individuals, Lu HaiKong's greatest find was undoubtedly Wang Hao's secret chamber. Lu HaiKong instructed the Shadow Guards to empty the chamber, taking away everything they could carry.
The spacious chamber was filled with jewels, paintings, and other valuables. Initially, Lu HaiKong was unsure of their worth, but upon using his scouting technique, he learned that these items could be exchanged for money. A single chest of jewels was worth around ten thousand gold, while paintings were even more valuable, starting at a minimum of twenty thousand gold per chest.
Wang Hao's secret chamber contained five chests of jewels and two chests of paintings, totaling approximately two hundred thousand gold in value. Given the manageable size of these items, Lu HaiKong had the Shadow Guards transport them away.
In addition to these valuables, the secret chamber also held a collection of secret manuals, mostly of the same level as the Savage Wind Saber Technique. However, there was one manual that Wang Hao seemed to treasure, a more advanced one.
This manual consisted of a spear technique and an inner power technique, seemingly designed to be used together. The spear technique was named Phoenix Spear Technique, and the inner power was called Phoenix Flame. Lu HaiKong glanced through them, noting that both techniques emphasized fierce and aggressive offensive combat.
Upon seeing this, Lu HaiKong's eyes lit up. Although he had previously raised Zhao Er's talent level, he hadn't found a suitable martial art for him to cultivate. He was delighted to discover that Wang Hao possessed a technique perfectly suited for Zhao Er's training.
In addition to this martial art, Lu HaiKong also found a weapon called the Phoenix Spear. With the technique, inner power, and weapon all present, it seemed that even the heavens were conspiring to support Lu HaiKong's decision to nurture Zhao Er.
Aside from these standard items, Lu HaiKong also discovered several one-time-use items in Wang Hao's secret chamber.
One of these was an order token capable of recruiting Yellow Turban Warriors, and another interesting item was the Yellow Turban Rain Charm, which could heal people's illnesses and injuries. This charm was also a one-time-use item, capable of restoring minor injuries for up to a hundred people, but it was ineffective for severe internal and external injuries like Li Xiong's.
Aside from these, the remaining items were miscellaneous and of minor use. The most notable find was a chest of books in the chamber, containing numerous military treatises that could be used for the Flame Battalion's training.
