Chapter 225: Devil's Castle?
Chapter 225: Devil's Castle?
Perhaps the demons in this bunker weren't very bright, or maybe the higher-ups had taken decks away for "strengthening research" in the past. Either way, the process went even more smoothly than You Xuan had anticipated.
He had expected that he might be suspected or exposed along the way and that he would have to play a game or two to complete the full collection for this prison. However, to his surprise, none of that happened, and he achieved the full collection without having to duel at all.
Those not-so-bright demons seemed convinced that their decks would be enhanced tomorrow, oblivious to the fact that they wouldn't see You Xuan again after today.
Well, it was the weekend, and he had spent the whole day grinding in his dorm room. Tomorrow, it was back to classes.
So, to the demons, after today, the Messenger might as well have vanished into thin air, taking their decks with him.
With the full collection achieved and a profitable trip accomplished, You Xuan was ready to head back. However, as he passed by a lounge in the bunker, he overheard a conversation between two jailers.
Demon 1: "What a tiring week. Between the prison break and the Messenger's inspection, we've had our hands full. I definitely need to unwind in Fantasy City tomorrow night."
Demon 2: "Oh? You're going too? Let's go together then."
Demon 1: "Sure thing! Let's go, let's go! I'm heading to Blood Charm Palace and partying till dawn."
Demon 2's expression changed: "You're a Blood Charmer? Why? Shadow Joy House is clearly better!"
Demon 1: "What? Damn you, heretic!"
You Xuan walked in as the two demons were about to come to blows, clearing his throat lightly. Startled, the demons straightened up anxiously.
You Xuan: "What were you talking about earlier, Blood Charm Palace and Shadow Joy House? What's that about?"
The two demons exchanged a glance.
Demon 1: "You must be from out of town, sir. We're talking about the biggest city around here, Fantasy City. The places we mentioned are the most famous entertainment venues in that city.
Especially the charmers at Blood Charm Palace, their skills are incredible. They'll keep you up all night."
As he spoke, the demon's face turned red, and he looked longingly into the distance.
Demon 2: "Pfft, clearly the ladies at Shadow Joy House are more skilled! You Blood Charmers just have more wives to steal from others!"
Demon 1's face turned red: "What's wrong with that??!"
And they were about to fight again.
You Xuan ignored them and quietly left the room.
Fantasy City, that sounded like an elven city.
He got his hands on a map from the bunker and unfolded it. The city didn't seem too far away, and according to the map, it was also within the territory occupied by the Oliver Hague God Religion.
No wonder the jailers could still find some entertainment.
You Xuan planned to be back in his dorm and in bed by 11 pm tonight, determined not to let fatigue affect his studies tomorrow. He estimated that he still had some time, which should be enough to take a quick look at that elven city.
There wasn't much left to scavenge from this bunker, and he had already collected almost everything. The only slight regret was that he hadn't been able to find out where the real Messenger was, leaving his full collection progress stuck at 99%.
Without further ado, You Xuan set off from the bunker.
With all the decks taken away, this bunker was essentially stripped of its fighting power. The expressions on the demons' faces when they realized that the Messenger had vanished into thin air would surely be amusing.
Following the map, You Xuan quickly located the city the demons called "Fantasy City."
It was a city with a rather gloomy aesthetic. Unlike the common brick-and-stone architecture, the buildings here were constructed from twisted metal and sharp stone blades, resembling spires rising from the depths of hell. Occasionally, a pale blue or scarlet light would shine through the skeletal structures, casting an eerie glow on the streets.
The streets were sparsely populated. Those who passed by were mostly cloaked in black, or revealed only a hint of their ghastly skin. From time to time, a cold wind would swirl the dust and scraps of paper on the street into vortices.
"A city mainly inhabited by demons," You Xuan mused as he walked along the street, taking in the unique construction of the city.
Shouldn't it be called Devil's Castle?
As he passed a central square, his attention was immediately drawn to a distinctive building.
It had a blood-red hue, as if soaked in fresh blood. The top was designed with a tall, pointed roof, both extravagant and bizarre. From the small demons with peculiar heart-shaped tails luring customers outside to the flushed faces of those entering and exiting, it was easy to guess that this was one of the clubs the jailers had argued about.
Of course, as a serious duelist, You Xuan was normally not interested in such places.
However...
Chaos Warrior whispered in his ear, "There's an enemy presence."
"Strictly speaking, we are already in enemy territory, so that's not surprising, is it?" You Xuan asked.
"No," Chaos Warrior shook his head. "This is the aura of Oliver Hague. And it's at least a regional leader. I can't mistake it after fighting them for so long."
"Here?"
You Xuan looked at the massive demon club, deep in thought.
Hmm, he hadn't been interested in these places to begin with, but now it seemed imperative that he went inside to check it out. Purely for the sake of the mission, of course.
The demons at the entrance seemed to notice the hesitant customer at the door. After a brief discussion, a new demon emerged from within.
Unlike the non-human species at the door that humans might not appreciate, this time it was a humanoid beauty—perhaps because they judged that their guest would be more likely to prefer this type.
The woman had a curvaceous figure and a radiant complexion that resembled velvet in the crimson moonlight, with a subtle glow. Her open collar revealed a delicate collarbone and an elegant neck, inviting one to explore the mysteries of the deep sea.
However, despite her human-like appearance, she was clearly not human, as evidenced by the heart-shaped black tail swaying behind her.
You Xuan understood. Most likely, she was some kind of special demon type that took pleasure in absorbing the life force of others, something he had seen in animations before.
There were some serious animations too.
The demoness was quite enthusiastic. "Why don't you come in and take a look, sir? No need to keep loitering outside."
And as she sensed the guest's lack of enthusiasm, she continued her pitch: "If you're not interested in my type, that's fine too. We at Blood Charm Palace have everything you could desire.
What's your preference? Furry or hairless? What race? Demon? Beast? We even have dragons!"
You Xuan: ". . ."
These guys sure played hard in the devil's city.
