Chapter 223: This Is the Master's Command
Chapter 223: This Is the Master's Command
October 9, 2024
"This thing called the Star Core is the power source for the Fallen Star City?"
After the pact was made, Su Nan turned his attention to the translucent, crystalline sphere.
"Exactly." Lize nodded. "It's a unique energy supply device created by the Starfall Society."
Su Nan asked curiously, "What's the difference between this and an elemental pool?"
"An elemental pool can do everything this can, but the Star Core can also monitor the energy particle fluctuations throughout the entire Fallen Star City and establish one-way communication with anyone within the city."
Su Nan's eyes lit up. While the energy supply function was impressive, the latter two features were particularly intriguing.
"Is its range limited to the Fallen Star City?"
"Unless a larger Star Core can be created, the current effective range is limited to one Fallen Star City."
She paused and added, "However, if it's just for communication, the range can be expanded by increasing energy consumption, though it won't last long."
Su Nan understood. "You used the Star Core to communicate with Aida, then?"
"Yes." Lize admitted openly.
There was no doubt that the Star Core was a valuable asset.
Without hesitation, Su Nan took the Star Core and placed it in the Cube.
As the energy supply was cut off, the energy fluctuations in the walls, ceiling, and floor quickly dissipated, and the entire tower soon fell into a dead silence.
"Are there any other resources in the Fallen Star City?"
Lize shook her head. "No, the Fallen Star City was just built when the Starfall Society broke out into internal strife. They didn't have time to stockpile resources. Apart from the Star Core and the puppet, the most valuable thing is the city itself."
Su Nan was slightly disappointed.
But then he thought about it. Just the Star Core, the puppet, and the vast amount of white marble were already a significant gain.
And there was Lize, a wizard's spirit with a wealth of knowledge.
This trip had been quite fruitful.
Since there were no other valuable items, Su Nan decided not to stay any longer. He picked up the grimoire and turned to leave.
As they returned to the entrance, Lize looked back at the tranquil Fallen Star City with a complex expression.
"What do you plan to do with the Fallen Star City?"
Su Nan replied without hesitation, "Take it back and dismantle it for materials."
Take it back?
Lize was taken aback, wondering if she had heard him correctly.
"You're going to use the teleportation function of the Fallen Star City? But you've already removed the Star Core. Even if you reattach it, the Star Core won't have enough energy to activate the teleportation function."
"That's not necessary."
Su Nan placed his hand on the wall made of white marble. With a mental command, the massive Fallen Star City, along with the inverted conical black mountain below it, vanished instantly.
Lize's eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape.
"How did you do that?" Lize asked, her eyes filled with astonishment.
Even as a well-versed wizard, she had never seen anything so extraordinary.
A spatial ring?
Impossible, no spatial ring in the world could have an internal space large enough to contain the Fallen Star City!
A demiplane?
That was even more impossible; only a True Spirit Wizard could create a demiplane!
But if it wasn't one of these, how did Su Nan manage to make the Fallen Star City disappear so quickly?
"Secret."
Su Nan had no intention of explaining and turned to leave.
No matter how large the Fallen Star City was, it only took up one slot in the Cube.
The Cube didn't have the concept of spatial size like magical items; it only had the concept of quantity.
As soon as they stepped out of the dimensional space where the Fallen Star City was located, the surrounding seawater rushed in, only to be blocked by Su Nan's energy shield.
Lize, now back to her senses, saw that Su Nan didn't intend to elaborate and didn't press further. She returned to the grimoire.
Every wizard had their secrets, and prying too deeply was not a good idea.
After emerging from the sea, Su Nan casually instructed Andrea and then headed straight back to the Dragon Forest.
With the Fallen Star City in his possession, he no longer needed to worry about the Rainbow Sea.
The Sirens had already joined the Star Alliance, and the remaining Deep Sea Naga stood no chance against the Star Alliance alone.
The Star Alliance faced little resistance in developing the Rainbow Sea.
The rest could be handled by his subordinates.
Next, he needed to focus on his cultivation and building his wizard's tower.
Back in the Dragon Forest, Su Nan took out the grimoire and released Lize.
"This is... an ecological garden!"
Looking at the vast, lush forests in the distance, Lize's eyes widened in surprise.
Her gaze then fell on the towering white spire not far away, formed by the intertwined dragon bones, and she blurted out:
"Dragon Skeleton Tower!"
"This is Dragon Grove!"
Su Nan raised an eyebrow and asked, "You recognize this place?"
Lize nodded and said, "I happen to know the owner of Dragon Grove, a powerful Second-Rank Wizard. Before I became what I am now, I heard that he joined a far expedition to another plane. I didn’t expect this..."
At this point, Lize couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia.
Since Dragon Grove was now under Su Nan’s control, it meant that the original owner had met his end.
Only then would an unclaimed ecological garden initiate the inheritance process.
The thought that over a thousand years had passed and the wizards she knew had long turned to dust made Lize feel a sense of loss.
But she quickly had no time for such musings.
When she saw the majestic tower standing tall in the middle of the vast forest, Lize was completely stunned. The cold and composed look on her face was replaced by shock and disbelief.
"Wizard Tower!"
The towering structure before her was undoubtedly a Wizard Tower.
Although Lize hadn’t built her own Wizard Tower yet, she had seen many and recognized it at first glance.
Even though it was a small Wizard Tower, it still left her deeply impressed.
In the golden age of wizards, a First-Rank Wizard building a Wizard Tower was relatively rare but not extraordinary.
But this was the Starlight Continent, a place in the midst of an elemental wasteland!
Given the extreme scarcity of resources, it was hard to imagine how Su Nan managed to build a Wizard Tower under such conditions.
It took Lize a good while to recover her senses. She turned to Su Nan, her eyes filled with awe as if she were looking at something unimaginable.
"I’m curious, can you conjure up resources out of thin air?"
Su Nan smiled and said, "This Wizard Tower isn’t fully completed yet."
"Even so, from the looks of it, it’s only a matter of time, right?"
Seeing Su Nan not denying it, Lize couldn’t help but ask, "How did you manage to do this?"
"It’s simple. Unite the entire Starlight Continent, and you can gather enough resources."
It took Lize a moment to understand what Su Nan meant. She was taken aback and asked, "You unified the Starlight Continent?"
Su Nan glanced at her and countered, "Is it that hard for a wizard to unify the Starlight Continent?"
Lize fell silent, her lips twitching slightly.
Official wizards were indeed a class above all others on the current Starlight Continent, and unifying it wouldn’t be difficult.
Pure power could suppress the entire continent, making everyone too afraid to resist.
But to integrate the entire continent’s power to gather resources and build a Wizard Tower was not something that could be accomplished with brute force alone.
Not to mention, the magical processing of the basic materials needed to build a Wizard Tower required a large number of wizard apprentices.
Otherwise, it would take one person a hundred years to complete.
Su Nan must have a well-organized, smoothly operating large force working for him to gather resources.
And there were likely a large number of wizard apprentices helping him with the vast and complex foundational work.
Not every wizard could achieve this.
At least, Lize admitted to herself, even if she reshaped her body and reclaimed her wizard powers, she could not do what Su Nan had done.
Even if she spent a thousand years, she couldn’t achieve it.
Not to mention, the large-scale cultivation of wizard apprentices was a significant hurdle.
She didn’t have the resources to spend on that.
For a moment, Lize felt that there were more and more mysterious aspects about Su Nan, making him completely inscrutable.
After entering the Wizard Tower, Su Nan led Lize to the control center, summoned Tower Spirit 1, and gave Lize access just below his own, allowing her to freely enter most areas of the Wizard Tower.
With the oath contract in place, Su Nan wasn’t worried about Lize doing anything against his interests. To help her better fulfill her role as an assistant, he gave her full trust.
Next, Su Nan went to the Dragon Skeleton Tower, summoned Butler 1, and also granted Lize secondary access.
With this access, Lize could almost freely move around anywhere in Dragon Grove.
"From now on, I will focus on my training and building the Wizard Tower, so the affairs of the Starlight Alliance and Dragon Grove will be handled by you. You need to familiarize yourself with these tasks as soon as possible. If you have any questions, you can ask Carolina and Red Widow."
Su Nan briefly explained the structure of the Starlight Alliance, and the rest Lize would have to learn on her own by reviewing the documents.
Upon returning to Dragon Grove, Su Nan immediately contacted Carolina and Red Widow.
No sooner had he settled into his study than the two women arrived with brisk and decisive steps.
"Master."
Carolyn and Red Widow bowed respectfully, their eyes subtly taking in the figure of Lizzy beside them, their expressions betraying a hint of surprise.
An apparition?
When did the master acquire an apparition?
She's quite beautiful, though.
At the same time, Lizzy discreetly observed Carolyn and Red Widow, her heart equally perplexed.
A sphinx noble and a vampire? What an unusual pair.
Judging from Su Nan's earlier words, these two non-humans are undoubtedly at the core of the Star Alliance.
For them to rise to such heights, they must be more than just skilled. Could they be the master's consorts?
Su Nan was unaware of the women's inner thoughts. He pointed to Lizzy and said:
"This is Lizzy Russell, a descendant of the Russell family and the only wizard among them. Due to a series of unfortunate events, she is now in the form of an apparition."
Carolyn and Red Widow's eyes widened in surprise.
They were well aware of the Russell family, of course.
After all, many students at Starlight Academy come from the Russell family, as do three of the instructors.
Given the long and storied history of the Russell family, their integration into the Star Alliance required thorough investigation. They knew the family had once produced a wizard.
What they hadn't expected was that the wizard was the apparition standing before them!
How did she end up here?
Carolyn and Red Widow were immediately curious about the events that had led to this transformation.
However, Su Nan didn't elaborate, and they didn't dare to press for more details.
Then, Su Nan's next words left them utterly shocked.
"From now on, Lizzy will serve as my assistant, helping me manage all affairs of the Star Alliance. In my absence, she will handle the day-to-day operations."
Carolyn and Red Widow felt a tidal wave of emotions surge within them.
This isn't just an assistant.
If this is true, this woman, Lizzy, will be second only to the master in the Star Alliance!
The two women were both astonished and envious.
They had been with the Star Alliance for so long and had never been granted such immense power. Why should this woman, who just arrived, surpass them?
Does the master trust her so much?
"Is there a problem?" Su Nan asked, his expression calm.
Carolyn and Red Widow snapped back to reality, quickly composing themselves and bowing their heads respectfully.
"Yes, Master."
Su Nan narrowed his eyes but said nothing.
He could see through their thoughts.
The reason he had given Lizzy such significant power was his belief that, as a wizard, she would be far more effective in managing the Star Alliance's affairs compared to the two of them.
After all, the Star Alliance was, at its core, a wizarding organization.
Even in its nascent stages, having a wizard in charge would ensure a more stable and efficient management.
Moreover, Lizzy had been a member of the Starfall Society, giving her more experience in wizarding organizations than anyone else.
Su Nan needed to be the guiding hand, steering the direction, while the specifics could be left to Lizzy.
He then summoned Puppet 1 and handed the Codex to the puppet girl.
"Puppet 1 will follow your commands from now on."
Lizzy couldn't stray far from the Codex if she wanted to move freely. Having a puppet carry it was the most practical solution.
Lizzy examined the puppet girl curiously.
Her wizard's keen eye immediately detected the puppet's unique qualities.
"A puppet made of mithril and diamonds. Even if it's not a wizard-level puppet, it must be close."
Lizzy mused to herself.
After arranging everything, Su Nan dismissed the three women with a wave of his hand.
As they left the study, before Carolyn and Red Widow could say anything, Lizzy turned and instructed them without missing a beat:
"Prepare a quiet room and have all the Star Alliance's documents sent there. I need to review them thoroughly."
"Yes, Lady Lizzy."
Watching Lizzy and the puppet girl leave, Red Widow finally raised her head, her lips twitching slightly as she glanced at Carolyn.
"Are you just going to let her rise above us?"
Carolyn remained unperturbed: "What else can we do? She is a wizard."
"That was in the past. Now, she's just an apparition."
"Even as an apparition, she is still a wizard." Carolyn's eyes lowered, "More importantly, this is the master's command."
Red Widow's words faltered, and she bit her lip in frustration, ultimately saying nothing more.
