Chapter 223: Go and Take Care of Everyone!
Chapter 223: Go and Take Care of Everyone!
"Impossible, absolutely impossible!"
Zuo Jun instinctively retorted. He was a Mutant; how could he be impotent? Especially in front of a stunning beauty, regardless of whether she was Chu Feng’s mother or not, it was a matter of male pride, and he would never admit to it.
But Shaohua wasn’t about to engage in pointless banter. Uninvited guests deserved to be dealt with, and the rest could be left to the capable hands of her companion.
"Bang!"
She reached out with her left hand and slapped him hard on the back of the head. Though she had held back, the force was still terrifying.
For someone who had just undergone mutation, those delicate, slender fingers landing on him were no less painful than a few strikes from a spiked mace.
With a bang, Zuo Jun’s face contorted, his eyes bulging, and he seemed to hear the sound of his skull cracking.
In fact, it wasn’t just his imagination; his skull had indeed fractured.
He let out a blood-curdling scream and promptly fainted, falling into unconsciousness, his body convulsing and foaming at the mouth.
"Young men these days, they fall asleep so easily", Shaohua remarked, patting her hands together.
Yellow Bull emerged from the house, his neck retracting when he heard her words. But when he saw her beckoning him, he reluctantly approached.
"Moo~"
Shaohua rubbed Yellow Bull’s head, feeling the soft golden fur. Hearing his quirky call, she gently tapped his forehead with a finger.
By the time Chu Feng returned and walked into the courtyard, he saw a stranger lying fast asleep at his doorstep. His face turned cold, and he frowned.
"Who is this guy?" He took a deep breath, stepped over the man, and hurriedly climbed to the second floor to ask Shaohua.
Soon, he understood what had happened. The man lying at the door had been sent by someone to check on him.
Was it really just to check on him?
Chu Feng didn’t believe it. With the roads cut off and strange phenomena appearing everywhere, who would dare travel far, let alone be sent to check on him?
Clearly, the visitor had ulterior motives!
He had a suspicion. He was just an ordinary person, and if anyone would target him, it could only be related to Lin Nuoyi.
Of course, they had parted ways amicably. Love was love, and dislike was dislike. Lin Nuoyi wasn’t that kind of person, and they still got along well.
"Beauty brings trouble", Shaohua concluded.
Chu Feng glanced at her, speechless. She was a celestial beauty, yet she was commenting on others.
Beauty brings trouble?
He could guarantee that if he posted her picture online, his old house would be overrun with people.
"What should we do with this guy?" Chu Feng felt a headache coming on.
Kill him? He found it hard to bring himself to do it. As a modern person, he had only ever killed a chicken and had never experienced killing a human. It was a psychological barrier he couldn’t overcome.
But letting him go or imprisoning him would only invite more trouble.
"Simple, make him forget about this", Shaohua snapped her fingers. Having spent time in the digital world, she had fully adapted to it.
"Hypnosis or some kind of mystic power?" Chu Feng was surprised and delighted. He truly wanted to see such legendary abilities. The so-called sparring sessions were always one-sided, with her effortlessly overpowering him. She was beautiful, but lacked the aura of a celestial being.
Shaohua descended the stairs unhurriedly, glanced at Zuo Jun, and then kicked him in the head with her long leg.
"Ouch! Sister, be gentle, my head's going to explode!" Chu Feng was startled and couldn’t help but gasp.
He knew how powerful her strength was. If that kick landed, it could flatten a mountain, let alone a person.
Chu Feng looked at Shaohua with a strange expression. He had expected to witness some mystic power or spell, but this was something else.
It was a Forceful Amnesia Kick!
"On the ground, Zuo Jun was foaming at the mouth, convulsing, and clearly in a state of confusion. Even in his semi-conscious state, he was screaming in pain, feeling like his head was about to burst.
Chu Feng’s lips twitched. Before the man cooled down, he searched his body, looking for any unusual items.
He found a dagger and a sword made of alloy, some food, and a Beasthide Map. The map was large and detailed, showing part of the Taihang Mountains and marking several hundred miles of terrain, including peaks he had never seen before.
"This is a partial map of the Taihang Mountains. It’s very detailed and covers areas I haven’t seen before. It must have been recently drawn and will be very useful", Chu Feng mused.
The map also had special markings. Some areas were marked with black skulls, others with the word "harvest", and some were circled in red.
After some thought, Chu Feng decided not to keep the original map and instead made a copy. He didn’t have a high-quality camera to take a clear picture.
He then carried Zuo Jun and ran about thirty miles, through the orchard on the east side of town, and dumped him on the Broken Road leading to the county, before leaving without a trace.
"Supplies are scarce, and we’re running out of food. We need to go hunting in the mountains, or we won’t even have enough to eat", Chu Feng thought as he returned home.
Living together, the celestial beauty only ate a little, while Yellow Bull consumed a lot. The townspeople were no longer in a panic. Under the leadership of some elders, they had started cultivating fields and planting crops.
The Celestial Shift had increased the town’s surrounding area tenfold, and despite some being mountainous, many areas were suitable for planting. The climate had also changed, becoming very favorable for crop growth. If nothing went wrong, they would have a bountiful harvest in a few months.
However, conditions were still tough, and they needed to endure for a while longer.
Back home, Chu Feng focused his mind and practiced the Great Bull Demon Fist in the courtyard. The technique was powerful, and occasionally, he could produce a thunderous sound.
A layer of mysterious energy covered his fists, allowing him to unleash terrifying force. If combined with a breathing technique, the power would be even greater.
Chu Feng now knew that the fist technique he had learned came from Yellow Bull. He wasn’t too disappointed; it was useful, and that was enough.
Yellow Bull was too mysterious, having emerged from an ancient seed. Some things were beyond his current understanding.
"The celestial beauty has entered my home, filling the room with fragrance. Just looking at her is a feast for the eyes, and being around her can prolong life", he thought.
One shouldn’t be too materialistic. It wasn’t about getting something from someone. If possible, he preferred to be friends and interact amicably.
The next morning, the golden sun rose as usual.
Zuo Jun slowly regained consciousness, feeling a severe headache. His head buzzed with every movement, and he felt like his brain was about to spill out.
"Who am I?"
"Where am I?"
"What am I supposed to do?"
He struggled to his feet, his mind still foggy, his face pale, and his eyes lifeless, filled with confusion.
Looking at his intact clothes, it took a long time for him to recall some details. He muttered to himself:
"The Mu family hinted that if I passed through Qingyang Town, I should teach that mortal a lesson. Then I got hit by a meteor on the way?"
Zuo Jun tried to remember, but his memory was hazy. The more he thought, the more his head hurt. He touched the back of his head and found it cracked!
Fearing for his safety, he quickly called for his companions to come and pick him up, holding his head and moaning. The idea of teaching the mortal a lesson was long forgotten.
Thus, Chu Feng enjoyed another peaceful day of practice.
He continued to practice the first move of the Great Bull Demon Fist, over and over, feeling the strange energy flow through him. He sensed that he was close to mastering it.
"Moo!"
Suddenly, as he punched, a bellowing bull’s roar echoed, and a thunderous sound resounded. The entire courtyard trembled.
Yellow Bull rushed out of the house, and Shaohua was also startled, looking down from the balcony.
Behind Chu Feng, a black bull appeared, tall and muscular, with eyes like copper bells and a body glowing with dark light, looking vivid and lifelike, as if from ancient times.
"Manifesting Fist Intent, not bad", Shaohua nodded in approval.
Mastering the first move meant he had laid a solid foundation. The subsequent eight moves would be easier to learn.
Yellow Bull grinned, thinking that perhaps Chu Feng’s ancestors were minotaurs, otherwise, how could he have mastered the Great Bull Demon Fist so quickly?
In recent days, news about Mutagenic Fruits had flooded the internet. Many people had found and consumed these fruits, undergoing mutations.
Some could fly and teleport, others could melt metal, and some could survive in molten lava.
Even in Qingyang Town, several people had obtained Mutagenic Fruits and gained special abilities, becoming Mutants.
The proportion was alarming, far exceeding other towns. Due to its remote location, this hadn’t been noticed yet, but it would surely attract the attention of major forces.
The number of Mutants with special abilities was increasing daily, and people were discussing the arrival of a mysterious new era.
"Alas, why hasn’t this seed sprouted yet?" Chu Feng sighed, digging up the last seed from the flower bed.
He was frustrated. The other two seeds had produced a celestial beauty and a divine tree. This one couldn’t be ordinary either, but it hadn’t sprouted.
"Intuition tells me that each seed has different conditions for sprouting. Perhaps the Mutagenic Soil is needed to grow the rare flowers. The soil under the plants that produce Mutagenic Fruits might be what’s required", Shaohua, after much research, offered her opinion.
Chu Feng agreed but was also worried.
He had visited the people in town who had consumed Mutagenic Fruits and found a small patch of colored soil under a root. Unfortunately, the other locations had already been thoroughly searched by others, leaving nothing behind.
"I’m close to mastering the Great Bull Demon Fist. When I do, I’ll go into the mountains to pick Mutagenic Fruits and dig for Mutagenic Soil. I’ll also hunt some game for food", Chu Feng said with determination.
"Good luck! I believe in you!" Shaohua cheered him on.
"Moo!" Yellow Bull seemed to have discovered something and called out, holding the Communicator.
She looked closely and smiled slightly.
It turned out that someone had found a strange tree in the Taihang Mountains, attracting many people to wait for the Mutagenic Fruits to ripen and then compete for them.
Rumors spread that most Mutants had mutated from consuming grass fruits, while the strongest few had eaten fruits from this special tree, making them exceptionally powerful.
This news sparked intense discussion, and various factions were preparing to act.
Who wouldn’t want to stand out in this tumultuous era and become a super-strong mutant, surpassing all others?
"The Taihang Mountains will not remain peaceful. It’s going to be troublesome. Little Chu, you need to step up and take care of everyone", Shaohua instructed him seriously.
"Me?!" Chu Feng pointed at himself, shocked.
Sister, I haven’t even eaten a Mutagenic Fruit, let alone become a Mutant. And you want me to take care of everyone coming?
Not to mention, who knows how many people will come, maybe hundreds or even thousands. He would be exhausted just thinking about it!
With the major forces like Heavenly God Biotech and Bodhi Genetics mobilizing resources, the Taihang Mountains were bound to become a battleground.
In the old courtyard of the Chu family in Qingyang Town, the sound of wind and thunder echoed, and a tall willow tree swayed in the wind, neutralizing all disturbances.
Chu Feng was practicing the Great Bull Demon Fist, his movements different from before. With a light shout, he finally mastered the eighth move. The last move, however, required a certain opportunity and insight, and mere practice wouldn’t suffice.
He stopped to eat, but found the kitchen empty, with only some grains left. The meat supplies were depleted.
Yellow Bull, a carnivore, had been consuming a lot of meat to support his training. He needed to go out and hunt some game.
"Sister, can we go into the mountains?" he called out to the second floor.
"What’s the matter?" Shaohua, lying on a recliner and browsing her Communicator, replied lazily.
"We’re out of food. I plan to go hunting. It’s my first time, and I’d feel more secure with you along", Chu Feng requested.
After spending time with her, he had a better understanding of her personality. She was easy to get along with, though a bit of a homebody.
"I’ll go with you. It’ll be good to stretch my legs", Shaohua stood up, gazing into the depths of the Taihang Mountains, her eyes reflecting a hint of confusion.
She had been pondering her origins and destiny.
Perhaps, a change of scenery would help.
