Chapter 223: Do You Have a Plan?
Chapter 223: Do You Have a Plan?
The audience stands.
A middle-aged man in his forties, standing behind Wang Weidou, suddenly leaned forward and whispered:
"This student, relying on her own strength, looks down on her classmates and has caused such a commotion, disrupting the order we should have maintained. Are we just going to let this go on without any intervention?"
Wang Weidou frowned and glanced at him. "This is the School Team's strength demonstration phase. She's just hyping up the atmosphere to get more people to challenge her. How is that disrupting order?"
"That's true, but she's already fought dozens of matches, and no one else wants to challenge her anymore. Yet, she insists on continuing", the middle-aged man said. "There are still five more School Team members waiting to compete. Isn't this just a waste of everyone's time?"
It's rare for a teacher to complain about a student fighting too many matches... Wang Weidou's face darkened, and just as he was about to speak, Liu Yao, standing nearby, suddenly asked:
"What do you want to do, then?"
"I think that if the students can't beat her, we teachers should step in and show her who's boss, so the remaining School Team members can get their turn sooner", the middle-aged man said seriously.
Wang Weidou: "......"
If you want the Teleportation Codex, just say it. You don't have to belittle her and beat around the bush. He almost couldn't hold back from cursing at him.
......
On the field, one challenger after another stepped up.
Fangy's expression shifted from initial excitement to casualness, and then to fatigue.
Apart from the sheer number of matches, another reason was that the opponents were just too weak!
Most of them were taken down with a single move, far from the intense battles she had initially imagined.
"Fangy, this is the 101st opponent. Keep it up!" Qiao Sang shouted.
"Ya Ya!" Hearing her Beastmaster's encouragement, Fangy instantly perked up.
She could keep going!
One Flame Vortex, and the Sandfox that had just entered the field was knocked out cold.
Looking at the invincible Flame Listener, a boy with freckles and glasses from Class 2-1 in the audience stands spoke up:
"This Flame Listener is not only powerful but also has incredible stamina. The students who have stepped up are all focused on their studies and have little combat experience. At this rate, it's hard to say when they'll be able to wear her down."
"Zhou Ren, do you have a plan?" a classmate asked.
Don't be fooled by Zhou Ren's usually quiet demeanor; when he speaks, he gets straight to the point and has a lot of clever ideas. So when he spoke, everyone felt he might have a plan.
"Indeed, I do." Zhou Ren pushed up his glasses, the lenses reflecting a glint of intelligence.
"What is it? Tell us quickly!" the classmate said eagerly.
The other students leaned in to listen.
"From the moment she announced that anyone who beats her will get a Teleportation Codex, this is no longer a 1v1 match", Zhou Ren said.
His classmate nodded, urging him to continue.
"I've been observing, and after every five matches, this junior calls the School Doctor to replenish Flame Listener's energy and stamina", Zhou Ren said, pushing up his glasses. "She may not realize it yet, but when someone repeats something regularly, it usually means a habit is forming."
"So, she will most likely continue to call the School Doctor after every five matches to restore Flame Listener's condition."
"By accumulating negative effects on Flame Listener over four consecutive matches, and then having our strongest person deliver a fatal blow in the fifth match, the probability of wearing her down is over 95%."
Upon hearing this, everyone instinctively looked at their class's strongest, Wang Yao.
Wang Yao's lips twitched, and he refused. "Don't all look at me. I won't go up there. I don't do underhanded things like that."
What a joke. In a 1v1 match, he might consider it, but these guys want him to be the one in five!
A classmate exclaimed, "Aren't you even interested in the Teleportation Codex?"
Wang Yao shrugged. "My family is well-off."
Rich kid!
The others turned their attention back to Zhou Ren.
Zhou Ren coughed and said, "It's fine. We can find another class to cooperate with. After all, it's not just us who want to win."
"But the Flame Listener's reaction speed is very fast, and it can teleport. It's not just hard to hit it with ranged attacks; even getting close is nearly impossible", a student sitting in the front turned around and hesitated.
"Which is why the choice of familiar is crucial", Zhou Ren said. "I've thought about it. The first person to go should have a Bonded Beast Companion that can use Toxic Mist, a Toxic-Type familiar. The mission is simple: use Toxic Mist to poison the Flame Listener right from the start."
"The goal is to reduce its attack power so that the second familiar doesn't get taken out instantly."
"The second familiar should ideally be a Combat-Type and know the Signature Move Double Retaliation. Double Retaliation can return double the damage it last received. If it can survive, it will deal significant damage to the Flame Listener."
"In this state, the Flame Listener won't be able to one-shot its opponent, so the third familiar should be a Grass-Type that knows Photosynthesis. This will allow it to recover its own status and wear down the Flame Listener effectively."
"Under normal circumstances, after these three rounds, the Flame Listener should be close to finished. But we have to consider the worst-case scenario. If the Flame Listener has the Blazing Trait, we need to find someone whose familiar has the Flash Fire Trait."
"The Flash Fire Trait can nullify fire-type skills, making it a perfect counter to the Flame Listener's fire-type attacks."
"However, the Flame Listener also has Psychic-type attributes, so we can't be too confident. The fifth person should be strong, and ideally, their familiar should be Water-Type. If everything goes as planned, the Flame Listener won't stand a chance."
The students around him were stunned.
Wang Yao's mouth twitched.
Good grief, if we really follow this lineup, who could possibly handle it...
"What are you waiting for! Let's find people who fit the criteria right away!"
"Right! I'll check with the neighboring class."
"I'll check with Class 9!"
"I'll ask the juniors!"
Everyone sprang into action.
Zhou Ren pushed up his glasses and remained silent, his contributions hidden beneath his calm demeanor.
...
"Class 2-1, Kong Nanhai."
The boy politely introduced himself and began forming hand seals.
A familiar appeared on the field: a black snake with golden armor from its lower body to its tail tip.
"Fangy, this is the 106th time, good luck!" Qiao Sang shouted.
"Ya Ya!"
Fangy nodded.
The battle began.
"Golden Armor Snake, Toxic Mist!" Kong Nanhai commanded immediately.
The Golden Armor Snake opened its mouth, releasing a cloud of black fog that slowly spread across the field.
Before the Toxic Mist could reach Fangy's position, a Flame Vortex broke through the fog and struck the Golden Armor Snake directly.
The center of the Toxic Mist was dispersed, but the surrounding fog continued to spread toward Fangy, eventually being absorbed.
Nice move!
Zhou Ren was inwardly excited.
"Golden Armor Snake is unable to battle, Qiao Sang wins", the female teacher announced without much enthusiasm.
Kong Nanhai showed no reaction, as if he had anticipated this outcome.
Just as he thought he had completed his mission and could leave the field, a voice reached his ears.
"Teacher, I would like to request to help the Flame Listener recover its status."
Kong Nanhai: "???"
