Chapter 222: Mostly Kidney Deficiency
Chapter 222: Mostly Kidney Deficiency
"Moo!"
Yellow Bull bellowed, forgetting about the fairy sister for the moment as he galloped down the mountain, fleeing for his life.
Chu Feng, bloated and sluggish from overeating, couldn’t keep up. He grabbed onto Yellow Bull’s two golden horns and plopped onto his back, transforming into a makeshift knight.
Yellow Bull glanced back with a scowl, but he couldn’t stop running. After several attempts to shake Chu Feng off, he had no choice but to continue down the mountain.
Once the two had fled far enough, the small mountain shattered, disintegrating into a cloud of dust. Amidst the chaos, a white mist surged and swirled, rising like a tidal wave.
"Moo!" Yellow Bull forgot about settling the score with Chu Feng and turned back, remembering that someone was still inside.
"Oh no!" Chu Feng also turned back, but the mountain had already collapsed into a pile of rubble, sending a chill down his spine.
If it were just a mountain collapse, he might have held out a sliver of hope. But if the folded space had also shattered, their chances were slim to none.
Though the woman seemed to have a celestial aura, she clearly wasn’t as powerful as she once was. If she had the ability to move mountains and seas, she would have long left to seek opportunities in the great mountains and rivers, not be stuck at home.
"Not bad, you remembered to wait for me. I appreciate that."
At that moment, a soft, clear laugh echoed through the mist. The voice was so distinctive, there was no need to see who it was.
Chu Feng and Yellow Bull looked up to see a graceful figure emerge from the mist, illuminated by the morning light, as if surrounded by divine rings.
A faint, dissipating aura spread out, causing all living things to bow in reverence, as if an emperor of the highest order had arrived, his presence overwhelming the heavens and earth.
The morning light spread like a golden path, and Shaohua stepped out of the mist, holding a small tree about a foot tall. Her every movement was graceful, her aura otherworldly, like an ancient celestial maiden, not of this mortal realm.
Chu Feng’s heart skipped a beat, his mouth agape, eyes wide.
Is this still the same hermit fairy?
Her demeanor had completely changed, ethereal and holy, her beauty almost unreal, her presence commanding awe and reverence, like ants gazing at a dragon.
Could this be her true form?
"Beautiful, isn’t it?" Shaohua smiled, her lips curling slightly.
"Beautiful as a dream, heart-stoppingly so!" Chu Feng replied instinctively.
Shaohua nodded, her smile widening. She walked closer, then kicked Chu Feng into the air, sending him flying back home.
Yellow Bull grinned, showing his teeth, but then noticed Shaohua’s gaze on him and quickly shrank back.
"Yellow, you’re still young, don’t learn bad habits from him", Shaohua said, rubbing Yellow Bull’s head and giving him a serious warning.
"Moo!!" Yellow Bull nodded vigorously.
By the time they returned to the courtyard, Chu Feng had already landed, as running was much slower than flying.
However, Chu Feng’s eyes held a hint of fear when he looked at Shaohua.
How could he not be afraid? Anyone would be terrified.
Kicked into the sky, he flew over a grove of fruit trees, performing an unknown number of aerial loops before landing in his own yard.
Just before he hit the ground, he could almost see his grandmother waving at him!
Seeing Chu Feng’s pitiful state, Yellow Bull grinned and began his special breathing technique, which lasted longer than usual.
Chu Feng followed suit, feeling his life force grow stronger, his body sweating profusely, and his mind becoming hazy.
"Refining the body, this is the path to sainthood", Shaohua observed, then turned her attention to the small willow tree in her hand.
She thought for a moment, dug a hole in a corner of the yard, and planted the willow seed, muttering, "Grow quickly, become a celestial willow. By the way, do willows have genders? Doesn’t matter, just grow!"
The small willow tree trembled, green light flashing, as if responding to her words, looking quite mystical.
After making contact with the earth, the massive amount of mysterious energy it had absorbed, along with the essence of the sun and moon that Shaohua had infused into the seed, began to take effect.
The willow sapling, barely a foot tall, grew rapidly, reaching over three feet in moments. The number of branches increased from eighty-one to one hundred and eight.
By the time Yellow Bull and Chu Feng regained consciousness, the willow tree’s branches had already grown over the courtyard wall, and the number of branches had increased from nine to twelve.
Hundreds of willow branches swayed in the wind, like a thousand strands of green silk, with a faint mist swirling around them, casting a gentle green light and a soft glow.
The presence of the willow tree transformed the entire courtyard, imbuing it with a sacred aura, transcending the mortal realm.
"This willow tree is..." Chu Feng was amazed, thinking it must have grown from the seed he had planted.
"Moo moo!" Yellow Bull was equally astonished. With his noble lineage, his ancestors from Earth, and his vast knowledge, he was even more impressed.
For him, this opportunity was significant, though the energy he absorbed was limited and his improvement modest.
What he didn’t realize was that the young willow tree had absorbed almost all of the mysterious energy, growing from a seed to a sapling.
"From my seed", Shaohua said, not hiding anything.
Both Chu Feng and Yellow Bull were stunned. Out of three seeds, two had already sprouted, one becoming a celestial willow, and the other a divine presence.
The third seed was a mystery, and the anticipation was palpable.
Yellow Bull couldn’t resist calling out, digging into the flower bed to check if the last seed had sprouted.
"That’s my seed, Yellow Bull, don’t you dare!"
Chu Feng panicked. He had brought back three seeds from Kunlun Mountain, and now only one remained. He couldn’t afford to lose it.
The first two seeds had produced divine entities, and the last one was bound to be extraordinary. Losing it would be devastating.
He burst forward with all his might, managing to snatch the seed back just as Yellow Bull was about to dig it up.
Yellow Bull, unable to get the seed, shook his tail, glaring at Chu Feng in frustration.
The two faced off, eyes glowing green with anger.
Their bodies had undergone a profound transformation, their internal energy drained, leaving them with a strong sense of hunger.
Chu Feng felt he could eat an entire cow, and Yellow Bull bared his teeth, looking like he might eat a person.
Just as they were about to pounce on each other, a branch from the willow tree extended, dropping two luminous droplets of liquid, filled with vital energy and natural power, onto them.
Instantly, their hunger vanished, and they felt a significant boost.
Chu Feng felt his life force surpassing that of ordinary humans by a factor of ten, growing rapidly, and even emitting a faint, fragrant aroma.
This was a sign of breaking through human limits, refining the body, and approaching sainthood.
Yellow Bull also felt the unexpected benefits, truly experiencing a wondrous encounter.
Over the next few days, Chu Feng practiced his martial arts, performing the breathing technique day and night. He often sought Shaohua’s guidance, which she happily provided, especially since he made an effort to cook new dishes for her.
She not only gave detailed instructions, teaching him to combine the breathing technique with his martial arts, but also sparred with him a few times. Well, almost beat him silly.
Yellow Bull, not to be outdone, took out his communicator and asked Shaohua to teach him to read. If he could understand the local language, he could gather information from various places more easily.
Shaohua agreed, finding the little bull quite endearing.
There was nothing to do, and practicing? What was that?
Meanwhile, Lin Nuoyi, a goddess from the Lin family, found herself in a bit of a bind. She was being pursued online by someone.
Normally, she would just block such people, but this one was a woman, and she couldn’t bring herself to dislike her.
More importantly, she felt an inexplicable connection, and after a few exchanges, they became friends.
Lin: "You’re in Chu Feng’s hometown?"
Light: "Mm-hmm, feeling jealous?"
Shaohua, holding the communicator, smiled like a doting aunt.
Lin: "We’re not together anymore. Nothing happened between us, and we parted amicably. We’re friends now."
Light: "Young people are so playful!"
Lin: "He’s a good person, but we’re not meant to be together."
Lin Nuoyi’s forehead creased with a few lines, but her good upbringing allowed her to remain calm.
Light: "Don’t underestimate him. That boy is more than just good. One day, you might see him in a different light."
Lin: "A boy?"
Light: "Yes, he’s my good big son!"
Shaohua replied matter-of-factly. To her, Chu Feng and Yellow Bull were just children.
Lin: "..."
Lin Nuoyi felt a bit exasperated, wondering how Chu Feng had found another mother figure and whether her new friend was actually a middle-aged woman.
Not that she had any prejudice, but it didn’t match her expectations.
Suddenly, her communicator vibrated, a familiar number calling. After a moment’s hesitation, she answered.
They had always communicated via text, and this was their first phone call. The time Chu Feng used the communicator didn’t count, as he was just a tool.
"Hey? You actually answered?" The clear, melodious voice surprised Lin Nuoyi. It didn’t sound like a middle-aged woman at all.
Shaohua, initially pleased, then asked, "Are you thinking something impolite?"
Lin Nuoyi, not an ordinary person, asked her question plainly.
"You mean my age? Well, I can tell you, but I’m afraid you might not believe me", Shaohua replied with a laugh.
"I’m listening", Lin Nuoyi’s voice was smooth and cold, like a high, unattainable flower.
"Don’t be scared, I was just born a few days ago!" Shaohua said honestly. She had indeed just emerged from the seed.
Unfortunately, people often don’t believe the truth.
The communicator went silent, and Lin Nuoyi remained quiet.
Shaohua blinked, not speaking either, and the two fell into a silent tension, their breathing faintly audible.
Finally, Lin Nuoyi spoke again, "In a while, I have to go to Taihang Mountain. Perhaps we can meet then."
Shaohua’s smile widened, and she teased, "Are you planning to elope with me? Come on, I’ll protect you!"
"Click!"
The call ended abruptly.
But someone was laughing, her clear, melodious laughter ringing out.
"Sis, I’m going out to get something. Watch Yellow Bull for me!" Chu Feng’s voice came from downstairs, followed by Yellow Bull’s roar.
Clearly, the two were at it again. Chu Feng dashed out to fetch the crossbow bolts he had ordered from Old Zhao, the blacksmith in town, leaving Yellow Bull fuming but too afraid to make a fuss, lest he anger the one above.
A few moments later, footsteps sounded outside the courtyard.
Yellow Bull’s expression changed. His senses were sharp, and he recognized that the person wasn’t Chu Feng. He turned to see Shaohua on the balcony, and his mood calmed. He slunk back to his room.
A young man stood at the gate, noticing the silence inside. He leaped over the fence, landing in the courtyard.
"Living in such a remote, dilapidated place, I wouldn’t come if I weren’t asked!" Left Jun grumbled, frowning. Chu Feng wasn’t home, so should he wait?
Suddenly, he heard footsteps and looked up to see a tall, slender figure on the second-floor balcony.
It was a young woman, her long hair flowing, her beauty so captivating it could make one commit crimes. Even a national goddess would pale in comparison.
Shaohua smiled faintly, looking down at him from above.
Left Jun was displeased. As one of the first evolved humans, he was powerful and used to being in control. A beautiful woman shouldn’t dare to look down on him.
Especially since she was so calm, standing there silently, as if ignoring him.
After consuming the strange fruit, he had gained unimaginable power, making him arrogant. He felt he should be the one looking down, not being looked down upon.
Being unexpectedly looked down on by a beautiful woman made him furious.
"Who are you?" he asked, somewhat reluctantly.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here? Breaking into someone’s home isn’t good, young man. Don’t go astray", Shaohua replied with interest.
"My name is Left Jun. I was asked to check on Chu Feng. Who are you, and why are you here?" Left Jun responded, frowning.
"Asked to check on him? More like looking for trouble", Shaohua laughed, then leaped down from the balcony, landing gracefully in the courtyard.
Left Jun, however, was more focused on her words. "Good big son?" He was stunned.
What was this? Chu Feng’s mother was so young and beautiful?
By the time he recovered, the figure had vanished, and he heard a soft, distant voice behind him, "Young man, getting distracted isn’t good. Mostly kidney deficiency."
