Chapter 221: What Are World Nobles Worth?
Chapter 221: What Are World Nobles Worth?
The residents watching from a distance fell to their knees in two rows, lowering their heads in trembling reverence and daring not to look directly at the center.
Upon seeing this, Bonnie exclaimed, "The World Nobles are here!" and quickly ran to hide in a corner.
At this distance, there was no need to kneel.
Not just him, but every one of the Supernovas found a place to hide.
Even Luo considered using this opportunity to slip away. But when he turned his head, he saw that Sage was still standing casually in the center, even looking eager for a fight.
None of his men behind him seemed inclined to leave either.
Renitia adjusted her mechanical hammer and curiously looked towards the direction where the residents had knelt down.
Malika had her men tend to her wounds, maintaining her usual calm and pleasant smile.
Hawkins' face was serene, but he kept glancing at Sage.
Lily stood with her left hand on her sword hilt, her expression cold and silent.
World Nobles...
She was curious too.
After all, the man Sage occasionally remembered to call 'Ghost Father' had wanted to give her to the World Nobles back then.
She never expected to encounter them today.
"Hey, aren't you going to hide?"
Sage curiously asked Luo, "Do you still have aspirations to serve the World Government?"
It was understandable for his other subordinates to remain here since they were aware of Sage's plan, and the captain would take the fall for any mishaps. But Luo was a bit different, as Sage had always been lenient with him.
After all, working for him meant limited access to information, but if Luo took on side jobs for the World Government, Sage would have access to a lot more intelligence.
So, he didn't stop Luo's private actions as long as he completed his tasks when ordered.
"You're the captain," Luo replied coldly. "I've also been expelled from the World Government and have no obligation to help the World Nobles."
More importantly...
He wanted to see!
He wanted to witness the pleasure Sage had talked about!
What kind of blood did these noblest of nobles have?!
In the center of the kneeling residents, the faint sound of rattling chains could be heard, followed by the appearance of several people strolling arrogantly down the street.
Five people.
Two guards, fully clad in armor and carrying long spears, accompanied a giant slave with an enormous collar around his neck, who stood at a height of about five meters. The collar was connected to a chain, and he was being led like a dog.
Following these three, an elderly man and a young woman appeared, both dressed in white robes resembling diving suits and wearing hoods that set them apart from the rest.
World Nobles, the Celestial Dragons.
It was said that they wore hoods to distinguish themselves from humans and refused to breathe the same air as the common folk.
"Disgusting, it blew up again, and another one is broken."
The female World Noble, with a faint smile, said, "Father, please buy me a new one." even before seeing the explosion, she commented upon hearing the sound.
"Are you getting your daily injections of tranquilizers?" the older World Noble asked.
"Yes, but it seems ineffective on these idiots. They still run so far even though they know they'll explode. Next time, buy me a giant," the female World Noble said.
"You should start with human children and raise them. It's such a waste; these are all from my 'Captain' series of slaves, and they're challenging to collect," the male World Noble said as he walked forward, pulling the chain. But soon, his expression changed to one of surprise.
The escaped slave lay on the ground, charred black, but standing before him were several people who had somehow evaded the blast.
Standing...
"How dare you stand before me?"
The female World Noble, Shalulia, was taken aback and didn't react immediately. She quickly strode forward and shouted, "Lowly commoners, how dare you block Shalulia's path! Kneel!"
"Rozward, the Saint."
The two soldiers behind them said, "That seems to be 'Disaster' Sage."
"Disaster? Heaven's Disaster?"
Rozward clicked his tongue. "To dare call himself a disaster before me, a descendant of the Creator and a World Noble? Is he a captain?"
"Yes, Saint Rozward," one of the soldiers respectfully replied.
"Then let him be a slave. One of my captain slaves just died, so we can replace him," Rozward nodded.
"They don't seem much different," Sage remarked as he looked at the two World Nobles with bubble headgear. Turning to his men, he said, "They're just like normal humans. What's there to be afraid of?"
"Lowly commoners! How dare you ignore my words!"
Bang!
Shalulia's temple bulged with a vein, and she angrily pulled the trigger. A lead bullet shot out of the gun, leaving a trail of smoke as it sped towards Sage.
Sage slightly tilted his head to dodge the bullet and then frowned, "Don't interrupt me when I'm speaking. Are you that eager to be caught?"
Shalulia widened her eyes slightly and continuously pulled the trigger as she exclaimed, "Commoner, die!"
"Look at you, always needing to be taught a lesson," Sage said with a grin as he walked forward. The bullets whizzed by him, not a single one hitting their mark.
"I recall there's a God Valley, and these people have caused you trouble there, haven't they? Have you forgotten, or can you never learn your lesson?" Sage asked.
"You..."
Rozward was about to stop his daughter from killing, but upon hearing these words, his face, hidden behind sunglasses, revealed a look of surprise.
God Valley
How does he know?!
Sage took slow, menacing steps forward, a bizarre laugh escaping his lips:
"Bloodline? No, that's completely useless. Strength? You don't seem to have much of that either, so why do you think you can be so arrogant in front of someone who can easily kill you? Hmph, hmph, hmph."
"You filthy commoner! Stop your dirty footsteps. Do you know who I am?!" Shalulia shouted in anger.
The two soldiers at the back quickly rushed forward, their long spears aimed at Sage's chest.
Clang!
Just then, a cold light flashed, and despite their armor, the soldiers were slashed across their chests. Blood spurted out, and they fell to the ground.
Lily appeared in front of the soldiers, sheathing her sword, which had been exposed halfway through the strike.
Sage strode between the two soldiers, turning to face Shalulia, and asked with a smile, "Then do you know who I am?"
Whoosh!
A scarlet light flashed in Sage's eyes, and with overwhelming might, it struck the two Celestial Dragons. Under this force, their faces turned pale, their bodies trembled, and their knees softened as they fell to their knees.
Thud.
The sound of their knees touching the ground was crisp and clear, causing all the kneeling residents to widen their eyes in disbelief.
"Hey, hey, hey,"
Apu swallowed hard, sweat dripping down his forehead and covering half his head. He exclaimed in shock, "What was that?!"
That feeling... was it the Color of High Authority?!
But there was something even more astonishing!
The Celestial Dragons had knelt down!
In front of this Heaven's Disaster, one after the other, they had knelt!
Not even Kaido had done such a thing!
"Strength is the only way! Pets are the ones who care about bloodlines!"
Sage looked down at the two kneeling nobles, laughing boisterously, "Pets should be more humble. You should be kneeling before me instead! Hahahaha!"
"You, you, you filthy commoner!"
Shalulia's face turned green with anger, and she struggled to lift her gun, "I'll kill you! Filthy commoner! Filthy commoner!"
Slap!
Sage slapped Shalulia across the face, breaking her bubble headgear and sending her flying before she crashed to the ground. Half her face was already badly swollen, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
"We are the descendants of the Creator. For insulting us, you will definitely die, you despicable human!"
Rozward was equally furious, raising the cane in his hand. The tip of the cane had been modified into a gun, capable of firing bullets.
Just as he was about to pull the trigger, Sage flicked his finger, sending a burst of energy that shattered the cane into pieces. The remaining force struck Rozward's chest, causing him to cry out and curl up as he clutched his chest, his head bowing towards Sage.
"Are the Celestial Dragons always this brave?"
Sage pointed at Rozward, laughing loudly at Lily, "In a way, I quite admire their stubborn streak!"
"Hey! You madman! After taking on the Celestial Dragons, the Navy will come after you!"
Hiding in the corner, Beck couldn't hold back anymore and shouted, "You've caused too much trouble!"
As arrogant as Sage was, this was still a conflict among pirates. He could refuse to back down or choose to avoid direct conflict for now, as the victory among pirates was not determined in a single battle.
As a member of the Blackbeard Pirates, Beck even considered paying off the other party first and finding another opportunity to settle the score later.
But taking on the Celestial Dragons... that was a different story!
"Do I need you to teach me how to handle my business? Shorty."
Sage burst into laughter, "The New World will only be crueler than here. If you back down at the sight of someone stronger, then no matter how vast the sea is, there will be no path of retreat for you!"
He walked up to the five-meter-tall slave with the collar around his neck, looking into his dull eyes, and said, "You're no good either. Even without any hope of survival, why didn't you think of taking a Celestial Dragon with you? His life is far more valuable than yours, but I'm feeling nice today!"
Sage grabbed the slave's neck collar, and with a clench of his fist, his Conquering Aura surged into the collar, deforming and shattering it into pieces that exploded in the air.
The five-meter-tall slave blinked, instinctively reaching towards his neck, only to find nothing but smooth skin. A spark of life lit up his dull eyes, and he slowly reached his hand out, feeling the empty space on his neck.
Sage picked up the thick iron chain, his palm slicing downwards to sever the chain. He then grabbed the two shorter chains, his fingers exerting force to infuse his Conquering Aura into the chains.
Clang!
The excess iron fell to the ground, leaving only the large iron chain ring in Sage's grip, while the rest transformed into whip-like strands as thin as a finger.
He moved his hands, and the iron chains flew through the air, one end coiling around Rozward's neck and the other end securing Shalulia's neck. Like a master walking his pets, Sage held the two Celestial Dragons in his grasp.
"Let's just sell them then. I wonder how much these Celestial Dragons are worth?" Sage chuckled.
"I know a place,"
Law smiled and walked over, "There's an auction going on there, and I heard there's a giant for sale."
A strange excitement flickered in his otherwise emotionless face.
He glanced at the unconscious Shalulia, her face swollen from the slap, and at the corner of her mouth stained with blood, he muttered, "It's the same blood."
