Chapter 221: Not Enough Magic Power?
Chapter 221: Not Enough Magic Power?
Lis's room was beautifully decorated.
The entire room was primarily in shades of pink, with walls adorned with wallpaper featuring various cute little animals, and the ceiling hung with star and moon-shaped decorations.
A small bed stood against the wall, covered with a pink bedsheet and comforter, and the window was adorned with curtains that had white tassels.
On the bed were several plush stuffed animals in the shapes of bears, rabbits, and puppies.
It was clear that Mr. Yap and Mrs. Avery doted their daughter.
Unfortunately, the current owner of the room was only sitting stiffly by the bed, motionless, like a delicate porcelain doll.
With Mr. Yap's permission, Wendy stepped forward to greet Lis.
Lode silently followed behind her, and Alusa watched Lis's actions the entire time.
"Hello, may I ask if you are Lis Miss?"
Lis had no response.
"My name is Wendi, can we be friends?" Wendi smiled and extended her hand toward Lis.
With Wendi's adorable smile and pleasant voice, it would be hard for any ordinary little girl to refuse and engage with her.
Unfortunately, Lis still had no reaction, not even a glance.
"Can you hear me speaking?" Wendi asked again, her small hand waving in front of Lis.
This time, however, Lis's eyes closed, and her body softened and fell down.
"Lis Miss!" Wendi hurried to support her.
"Lis!" Mrs. Avery also tensely supported Lis.
The two of them slowly laid Lis flat, and Mrs. Avery sorrowfully said, "This is how it has been, Lis has been frequently fainting like this recently, and it's becoming more and more frequent."
Rod had never seen such an ailment before, and now the only method he could think of was to try the Remnant's Crown on Lis.
Alusa was equally at a loss, she did have a nurse's uniform, but to truly treat the illness, she could at most help take a temperature.
Now, they could only rely on Wendi.
Mr. Yap anxiously asked, "Please... do you have any ideas?"
Wendi thought for a moment, uncertainly replied, "If Lis Miss's dazed state might be due to psychological or mental trauma;
the frequency of fainting is increasing, it looks like a toxic injury is acting up; the possibility of a curse cannot be ruled out..."
"Please... do you have any solutions?" The couple looked at her with hopeful eyes.
Wendi felt a bit of pressure: "I think I'll first try to dispel the abnormal state with magic, then use the detoxifying and regular healing spells, but..."
"Maybe the magic power won't hold up?" Rod remembered the last time Wendi used a healing spell and they both ended up exhausted against the wall.
Wendi's eyes welled with tears: "I'm sorry, in a short time, I can only use one spell."
Alusa looked at Rod and smiled, "If the magic power is insufficient, there's no need to worry."
"Yes, the magic power issue I'll handle." Rod patted Wendi's head, "When do you start?"
Wendi was not sure but had no doubt, "Anytime is fine."
"Then let's do it now." Rod glanced at the room's space, summoned the magic statue, but it would crash through the ceiling, so he had to crouch.
"Mr. Yap, Mrs. Avery, can you step back a bit?"
"Sure!" Mr. Yap pulled Mrs. Avery, who was still reluctant, to the door.
Alusa stood next to Wendi, giving Rod some space.
"Summoned·Canglan Carved Statue!"
Rod crouched and activated the summoning magic in a half-crouched position, this was the first time using this method.
Suddenly, a stone-like large object appeared in the room, the chest emitting a blue glow, catching everyone's attention.
Standing over three meters tall, even when crouching, Rod's head could still touch the ceiling decorations. Rod had to control himself and not move around.
"Mr. Rod?"
Mr. Yap and Mrs. Avery were understandably surprised, as this was the first time Wendy had seen Rod in this form.
Without further ado, Rod transformed and cast a buff on himself and Wendy: "Remnant's Crown."
Three streams of blue light appeared around Wendy, and Rod said to her, "Start."
"Okay!" Wendy obediently cast a spell on Lis, "Abnormal State Resistance Boost, Lireige!"
A blue magic circle appeared below Lis's body, forming a semi-transparent blue aura around her.
Wendy's palms continued to emit blue light, "Abnormal State Removal, Tispeleu!"
The blue light lasted for several seconds, and Wendy's body swayed, almost falling over. Alusa caught her in her arms.
Rod thought that it might have been better if Wendy had fallen, at least the floor was wooden.
Healing magic was extremely draining on magic power, and Wendy faced the same issue as Rod had in the past: insufficient total magic power, which made it impossible for her to sustain the spell even with the Remnant's Crown buff.
After a few minutes of waiting, the Remnant's Crown effect wore off, and Wendy finally gathered enough magic power for the next spell.
Rod renewed the Remnant's Crown for her.
"Again." Wendy extended her hand again, and green light appeared in her palm, "Toxin Removal, Ditox!"
Following the same process, Wendy rested for a while and then used regular healing magic.
Mr. Yap and Mrs. Avery, seeing the elaborate setup, felt a glimmer of hope.
When Wendy collapsed in Alusa's arms for the third time, Rod renewed the Remnant's Crown for her once more before reverting to his human form.
Mrs. Avery rushed to check on Lis, while Mr. Yap, a bit more composed, first inquired about Wendy's condition before asking about Lis.
Wendy, looking a bit troubled, said, "I can't confirm the effect yet. Let Lis Miss rest for now, and we can check again tomorrow."
"Yes, yes, why don't you all stay at our house? We have enough guest rooms."
"No need, we've already rented a hotel, and our companions are waiting for us."
Alusa felt that Wendy had something she couldn't say, so she declined Mr. Yap's offer but added, "If anything happens, feel free to come find us."
...
The three of them left the clients' house as the sun set, and the streetlights began to turn on.
Before they had walked far, Hapi and Chalulu found them.
Chalulu asked, "How did it go? What's wrong with that child?"
"I don't know." Wendy shook her head, "Healing magic didn't work on her."
Alusa asked, "What about the first two spells?"
"They didn't work either, there was no feeling of removing a curse or toxins." Wendy pouted, her hands covering her face, "I'm sorry, I'm so useless, waaah..."
Chalulu immediately said, "It's not Wendy's fault. Healing magic isn't a cure-all."
Although she didn't know what was going on, she was sure it wasn't Wendy's fault.
"Chalulu is right. Perhaps there's another reason for Lis's condition," Rod said. "We need to investigate further."
Chalulu, recalling what Alusa had said, asked with concern:
"What did you mean by 'the first two spells'? How many times did Wendy cast magic? Why push herself so hard?"
