Chapter 220: Felix Felicis
Chapter 220: Felix Felicis
For Kyle, this little hiccup during his Spell exam would have no impact on his overall performance.
"Flawless," Professor Flitwick said with a smile. "I look forward to seeing your final marks, Kyle. I hope you didn't purposely get one question wrong like last year. It's been a while since Hogwarts has had a student with straight Outstandings across the board."
Kyle smiled sheepishly. Last year, he never expected to get a perfect score in Potions, so he answered the last question jokingly, writing about the thirteenth use of dragon blood.
For their Transfiguration exam, Professor McGonagall instructed them to turn a rabbit into a trophy. The more intricate and detailed the trophy, the higher the marks. Any remaining rabbit fur would result in a deduction of points.
Kyle completed this task with ease as well.
The last exam, as per tradition, was History of Magic. When Professor Binns asked them to put down their quills, it signaled the end of the school year.
From then on, they were free to enjoy their holidays without the worries of studying, early mornings, or library assignments.
As Kyle exited the classroom, he was greeted by a chorus of cheers and laughter.
Everyone wore smiles on their faces, and even the air seemed filled with joy.
However, Kyle noticed something peculiar. Some students gave him strange looks—some encouraging smiles, others blatant ridicule.
Confused, he was about to grab someone to ask what was going on when Cedric approached him from a distance.
"I heard about it…"
Cedric patted Kyle on the shoulder and said softly, "It doesn't matter. So what if you didn't do well in one subject? That doesn't prove anything. You're still, without a doubt, the smartest student in Hogwarts."
"Hold on…" Kyle asked hurriedly. "What do you mean? What happened, and what do you mean I didn't do well? How did the results come out so fast?"
"You didn't know?" Cedric asked. "People saw Professor McGonagall shaking her head while checking your paper, so many assumed that you must have done poorly, which is why she looked so disappointed."
Kyle paused, unaware of this. No wonder Cedric had said he didn't do well. Now he knew the reason for those strange looks.
However, Kyle only thought about it briefly before brushing it off. He had memorized most of the answers to pass the time, so he was confident they were correct.
As for why Professor McGonagall was shaking her head… who knew? It was hard to guess the thoughts of the elderly cat lady.
"Kyle… we've been looking for you," Fred and George said as they approached, and somehow, their first sentence was exactly the same as Cedric's.
"We heard…"
"Stop!" Kyle interrupted them. "I did great, so you don't need to comfort me."
"So… you want us to praise you?" Fred asked with a strange expression.
"Well then, let me think about how Mom praises Percy…" George rubbed his face and made an exaggerated expression. "'Look, it's all 'O's. I knew you could do it…'"
"Kyle, we're so proud of you…"
"Is that okay?
"What are you joking about?"
Fred shot him a annoyed glance, "If even your grades need comforting, then what about us? Should we go back to the dormitory and have a good cry?"
"We're here to ask if you want to go to the Forbidden Forest with us."
"We heard there's a Kneazle there..."
"Maybe we can catch one and give it to Ginny as a welcome gift."
"She's always wanted to keep a Kneazle as a pet."
Kyle thought for a moment and shook his head, "I have something else to do later. By the way, can I borrow the Marauder's Map?"
The twins, who had been somewhat disappointed, perked up at the mention of the map, and their faces lit up with mischievous grins, understanding what Kyle had in mind.
"Of course, take it," they said.
...
That evening, Kyle quietly left the common room and made his way to the entrance of the forbidden area.
He had thought long and hard about whether or not to get involved in the mess with the Sorcerer's Stone, and it wasn't until last night that he had finally made up his mind.
Let's go! The Sorcerer's Stone is secondary; that thing belongs to Nicolas Flamel, and Dumbledore treasures it closely, so the chances of stealing it are slim.
Kyle was here for another reason.
Of course, since he would be facing Voldemort, he had made thorough preparations just in case.
Kyle took out a tiny vial, no larger than his thumb, from his pocket.
Felix Felicis.
He was well aware that he wasn't Harry, and he didn't have a destiny-bound connection to Voldemort, so he needed a bit of luck to ensure his survival.
"I hope this trip will be worth the price of admission," he muttered to himself.
Kyle uncorked the vial and carefully sipped a small amount of the golden liquid.
Drinking it all would be wasteful; he only needed a few hours of good fortune.
The next second, Kyle felt like the whole world had changed. An incredibly exhilarating feeling coursed through his body, as if endless opportunities lay before him.
He felt like he could do anything, that nothing was beyond his grasp... Tasks that had once seemed difficult now appeared effortlessly easy.
"Why did I waste so much time..."
With a smile, Kyle pushed open the door to the forbidden area.
Inside the room, Fluffy roared and charged at him, but upon realizing it was Kyle, it abruptly skidded to a halt and excitedly hopped in place.
"Are you bored?"
Kyle waved his hand and said with a smile, "Come on, I'll take you somewhere else to play for a while. How does that sound?"
The two heads on either side of Fluffy's nodded enthusiastically, while the middle head hesitated.
"Don't worry, we'll be back soon, and Dumbledore won't know a thing. I promise," Kyle assured the nervous middle head.
This time, Fluffy agreed.
Kyle placed it in the box and grabbed his flying broomstick, riding it down through the trapdoor entrance.
The room was empty.
The Devil's Snare he had moved before was gone, and it was clear that Professor Sprout hadn't replenished it.
Or perhaps she didn't even know about it.
If Kyle's guess was correct, there should be another entrance that the professors used when setting up the challenges.
Since there was no need to enter through the trapdoor, no one had noticed that something was missing from the room.
This was... extremely irresponsible.
Don't they regularly check on such an important challenge?
