Chapter 219: Dumbledore's Source of Power
Chapter 219: Dumbledore's Source of Power
"Did you find that answer then?" Ivan asked curiously.
"Yes, but it was difficult! I once tried to discuss these matters with Dumbledore. He told me that the accumulation of knowledge and the power of belief are most important, and neither can be missing!" Tom couldn't help but laugh as he continued.
"Sounds like something you'd tell a child, doesn't it?"
"But I was young then, and I believed him so much! It wasn't until I followed the footsteps of the great predecessor, Salazar Slytherin, and unraveled many of the clues left by my ancestors, that I found this in a certain place!"
Tom snapped his fingers, and a cloud of black mist swirled in the air, forming into the shape of a book.
Ivan struggled to contain his excitement and forced himself to remain calm. He was extremely familiar with the cover and title of the book—it was none other than *Origin of Bloodlines*!
"This *Origin of Bloodlines* has revealed everything Albus Dumbledore has hidden! It also made me understand the true nature of the magical world!" Tom didn't notice Ivan's slightly off expression as he spoke with a sense of awe.
"What does the book say? Why is it called *Origin of Bloodlines*?" Ivan asked, deliberately trying to draw out more information.
Tom glanced at him and began to introduce the contents of the book, starting from the history before the Wizarding War.
He emphasized that in this ancient history, some wizards used various means to obtain the innate powers of powerful creatures, and the Dumbledore Family was one of them, fusing with the blood of a Phoenix!
"You must have seen Dumbledore's Phoenix, right?" Tom turned to look at Ivan.
"Yes, it looked very beautiful and powerful", Ivan nodded.
"That's the proof!" Tom raised an eyebrow, and his face twisted into a sinister expression.
"The Slytherin Blood I inherited is also very powerful, but unfortunately, my father was a lowly Muggle who tainted my ancestors' blood, preventing me from fully accessing the power of my lineage!"
As he spoke, Tom clenched his fists tightly, and the black mist around him stirred.
But this state only lasted for a moment. Tom quickly regained his composure, though it was a bit unsettling. He continued speaking.
"In any case, I found a way to restore my bloodline's completeness in *Origin of Bloodlines*. However, the book is incomplete, with the most crucial part deliberately torn out, causing me a lot of trouble."
"I have always suspected that the person who did this is your current Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore! According to the book, the inheritance of bloodline power diminishes over generations.
Yet, after more than a thousand years, the power of the Phoenix Blood in Dumbledore has not diminished at all. He remains powerful enough to summon his own Phoenix and even transform his Patronus into the form of a Phoenix!"
"So the kind and gentle Headmaster you see may not be as he appears.
Dumbledore is likely afraid of talented young wizards, fearing that someone might become more powerful than he is. I think this is also why he has always been wary of me."
Tom looked at Ivan sincerely, "You and I are alike, Hals. We are both exceptionally gifted young wizards. Dumbledore will eventually start targeting you too!"
Ivan nodded noncommittally without responding.
Tom didn't mind and continued speaking to himself.
"I have placed that book in the Restricted Section. You can find it on the twelfth shelf of the seventh row in the Restricted Section tonight at midnight."
"I placed some interesting spells there to prevent this book from falling into the hands of the mediocre. I believe it won't be a problem for you", Tom's voice grew weaker, as if he was very exhausted.
Ivan's expression was a bit odd, because he had already obtained the book, Origin of Bloodlines, long ago. Of course, he wasn't foolish enough to say it outright.
Most of Tom Riddle's words were within Ivan's expectations. He had long guessed that Origin of Bloodlines might be hidden in the Restricted Section by Tom and was related to Salazar Slytherin.
The only thing that surprised Ivan was that Tom mentioned the Origin of Bloodlines he obtained was initially incomplete, and he speculated that it might have been torn apart by Dumbledore.
If that were true, why did Tom claim to have found a way to complete the bloodline? Ivan had read the book, and it didn't mention anything related to that.
The bloodline fusion potion he created was entirely based on a formula provided by the system.
Many other questions still lingered in Ivan's mind.
For example, why did Tom leave such a book in the Restricted Section, setting up numerous obstacles, instead of taking it with him?
Ivan was about to ask more questions, but Tom's solid figure suddenly dispersed again.
The entire space began to shake violently, then shattered into countless black mists, converging towards the center and being sucked into a vortex.
After everything dissipated, Ivan found himself back in his dormitory. The desks and beds were still in their original places, and what had just happened felt like a dream.
The only thing that remained was a black leather-bound diary on the table. The pages seemed to have lost their luster, and the paper was slightly yellowed, with the story just told recorded in text.
It took Ivan a while to regain his composure. After some thought, he wrote on the diary with a quill pen, "Tom, are you okay?"
Ivan's question was quickly answered, as black ink appeared on the diary.
【Not good. To tell you all this, I consumed a lot of energy. I won't be able to speak to you for some time. In any case, read the book when you get it, and we'll talk then.】
So bad? It can't be that bad, right?
Ivan pursed his lips. In his view, creating such a Dark Mist Space to communicate with him did indeed consume a lot of energy, but it wasn't enough to severely damage him.
Tom was likely trying to get him to catch some creatures to absorb their life force, so he could recover his strength.
The bait was the Origin of Bloodlines.
If another young wizard had heard about Tom Riddle's tragic childhood, they might have felt sympathy and followed his advice to go to the Restricted Section to get the Origin of Bloodlines, thus verifying Tom's claims and believing him completely.
While digesting the massive amount of information Tom Riddle had provided, Ivan closed the diary and put it in his robes, carrying it close to his body.
It had to be said that the Dark Mist Space Tom Riddle created had truly frightened Ivan.
If Tom had taken advantage of his absence and tricked Harry, Ron, and Neville, where would he go to cry?
