Chapter 218: Cultivating a Celestial Maiden (New Journey)
Chapter 218: Cultivating a Celestial Maiden (New Journey)
The Great Era, once resplendent, ended in regret.
The Sinister Ancestors went mad, leading their remnants to massacre the All Realms, attempting to summon an existence, their blades unstoppable.
The one who bestowed protection ultimately fell silent, no longer the same. What remained was an indomitable will.
The heavens crumbled, and Immortal Emperor Luo Yongji, the once-extinct and revived corpse of an Immortal Emperor, returned to defy the heavens but perished once more.
At the end of the era, three Celestial Emperors surged forward, reaching the pinnacle of Immortal Emperors, raising the final banner of resistance.
But they, too, met their tragic ends.
The fall of the empire brought sorrow to the All Realms.
The vast desert, with its lone smoke rising straight and the sun setting round and full, stretched endlessly, vast and majestic. As the sun set, the horizon turned a deep crimson, evoking a sense of grandeur and desolation.
The ancient smoke of war had long since faded, and Chu Feng felt his youth had come to an end.
Graduation meant unemployment!
He bid farewell to the goddess of his campus, knowing they would part ways. Indeed, graduation season was also breakup season, a cliché he couldn't escape.
Without rushing to serve the Corporate Clans, he left the academy and embarked on a journey to see the world, eventually reaching the western frontier desert, where he encountered an inexplicable and mysterious event.
Not one to believe in superstitions, he continued westward into the Plateau.
Finally, Kunlun Mountain came into view.
From a distance, he felt an overwhelming pressure.
The towering mountain range, majestic and grand, stretched across the land like the spine of the world, unparalleled in its vastness and grandeur, unmatched by any ancient mountain.
Kunlun, known as the Divine Mountain and the Sacred Mountain, was recorded in numerous ancient texts, from the Classic of Mountains and Seas to the Huainanzi and the Records of the Grand Historian.
This mountain range was steeped in countless legends and myths.
"Is this the Queen Mother of the West?"
Climbing the mountain, Chu Feng noticed that it had recently experienced an earthquake or some other extraordinary event. He discovered a bronze stele inscribed with the ancient characters for 'Queen Mother of the West,' sparking his imagination.
"There's no such thing as the Queen Mother of Heaven. It's fake. Even if she existed, she was probably just the leader of some ancient tribe", he thought confidently.
But as he climbed higher, he made new discoveries: three ancient bronze houses, half-buried in the earth, their backs against the stone wall.
More astonishingly, the entire mountaintop was made of bronze!
This revelation shattered Chu Feng's worldview. Facing an ancient bronze mountain, he found it hard to explain away the supernatural.
At the same time, he caught a whiff of a fragrant scent carried by the wind.
A plant, green and lush, stood about three feet tall on the bronze cliff, with a flower bud about to bloom.
"Unbelievable. Could the world really be changing?" he frowned, recalling Lin Nuoyi's words.
"One day, perhaps a weed by the roadside will bear a fist-sized red fruit, and everything we consider ordinary might no longer be so."
Suddenly, danger loomed. The strange tree bloomed, attracting fearsome beasts: a massive Golden Eagle, resembling a roc, and a Yak King, black as pitch and as large as a small mountain.
A True Mastiff also emerged, swiftly dispatching three snow leopards and seven wolves, its ferocity unmatched.
These three formidable creatures battled over the strange tree, accidentally dislodging a few petals, which Chu Feng caught in his hand.
The petals were covered in crystal-clear pollen, emitting an intense, fragrant aroma that instantly permeated his body.
"I want to go home."
Chu Feng, with a wry smile, retreated and then ran, only to trip on a square stone and fall flat on his face.
"I want to curse, but I'd better just get out of here", he thought, picking up the stone and continuing his journey.
Since he had come this far, he decided to take a keepsake. The bronze artifacts on the mountain were too large to carry, but the stone provided some comfort.
Surprisingly, the stone was a perfect cube, about three inches high, smooth and polished, with faint patterns on its surface.
After leaving Kunlun Mountain, Chu Feng felt the stone was special. He washed it, revealing a gray-brown color, and discovered it was actually a stone box.
"Click!"
He carefully opened the stone box, finding three seeds inside.
Chu Feng was disappointed. He had hoped to find some incredible treasure, but all he found were three seeds.
"These seeds have been buried for who knows how long. Can they even sprout? I'll plant them and see what grows. Maybe I'll cultivate a Queen Mother of Heaven or a Celestial Maiden", he mused, laughing.
It was all about daring to dream and act!
The next day, Chu Feng set off for home, which was in the Taihang Mountains.
In the Post-Civilization Era, though not as resplendent as before, the world had been rebuilt, and transportation was still relatively convenient.
Unfortunately, he didn't realize that the world was about to change.
More accurately, the blue planet beneath his feet was beginning a Spiritual Renaissance.
The ancient dust had settled, revealing its true form.
The real Earth was gradually unveiling itself, with dramatic changes to its mountains and rivers. Cave Heavens were unsealed, and the landscape transformed.
Mountains rose, the earth expanded, and numerous towering peaks emerged, as if from nowhere, altering the world dramatically. Legends became reality.
Chu Feng traveled by train, then on foot when the tracks broke, and finally by hitchhiking and bus, finally returning to the foot of the Taihang Mountains.
As he neared the outskirts, he encountered a "divine beast" and, using his knowledge from Kunlun Mountain and the "pollen, catalyst" theory, managed to lead away a Golden Calf.
"Finally home", he sighed, feeling a sense of relief in familiar surroundings.
Qingyang Town, his birthplace, was where he lived until age ten, when he moved with his parents to a large northern city.
It was late at night when he brought the golden calf into the courtyard and went to bed on the second floor.
Youth was a blessing; he fell asleep instantly.
The next morning, Chu Feng saw the golden calf, bathed in the morning light, sitting cross-legged and practicing a breathing technique, which he found intriguing.
Sensing the changes in the world, he coaxed the young calf to teach him the technique, which he quickly mastered.
He then took out the stone box, planted the three seeds in the garden, and watered them.
The Yellow Bull watched this foolish human digging in the soil.
"Don't underestimate them. I plan to grow a Queen Mother of Heaven from the first seed, a Heavenly Weaver from the second, and I'll decide on the third later", Chu Feng said, acting serious.
"Moo!" The Yellow Bull shook its head, laughing mockingly.
"I'm serious", Chu Feng pouted, then had a sudden idea. "My garden needs fertilizer. How about you contribute some?"
The Yellow Bull was stunned, then furious, steam rising from its nostrils, eyes wide, and hooves digging into the ground as it charged at him.
Fortunately, it didn't use its horns, or Chu Feng would have been crushed.
"Stop, stop, stop! I was just joking!" Chu Feng shouted, realizing a serious issue.
If he really grew a Queen Mother of Heaven or a Heavenly Weaver, they would surely be furious to learn he used cow manure as fertilizer.
"Just see what you can do. I hope they sprout soon", he wished, eager to see the results.
Later, the Yellow Bull played with his communicator, and the two had a playful tussle.
That night, the Yellow Bull led Chu Feng to practice the breathing technique under the moonlight. This technique could only be practiced at dawn and dusk.
That night, the Taihang Mountains experienced a massive earthquake, with new mountains rising, some over ten thousand feet tall, causing chaos in Qingyang Town, but miraculously, no one was injured.
The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight illuminated the garden, a graceful figure appeared among the flowers.
The Yellow Bull woke early, a disciplined and determined creature destined to rise and become a saint. However, when it saw the figure, its golden fur stood on end, and it trembled in fear.
Despite its noble lineage and inheritance, it couldn't identify the figure but felt an overwhelming sense of dread.
Some beings are beyond comprehension!
The Yellow Bull closed its eyes, trying to calm its mind.
"The gods are dead, the demons are gone, and I am still alive. Why did I say that?"
The morning light illuminated the sky, and the eastern horizon glowed with the first rays of the sun.
The woman in green looked up, her mysterious thoughts fading. She seemed to have forgotten much but followed her heart, moving forward step by step.
"Let's say I've crossed over again. The word 'again' is so profound; I feel like I've forgotten something important."
She spoke to herself, running her long, pale fingers through her hair, trying to recall her origins.
"Hmm, I can't remember. It's like a fog covers my past. I remember my name is Shaohua."
As she spoke, the world seemed to pause, and a sense of impending doom filled the air.
"Even my name is unrecallable and unspeakable?"
She frowned, then smoothed her brow, smiling slightly, and pointed to the sky.
"Everything in this world is an illusion. I don't believe in fate or destiny. The All Realms are all false; only I am true and unique. Whatever I do, everything is permissible!"
As she spoke, everything returned to normal, and the sense of foreboding vanished.
At that moment, a corner of her fogged memory cleared, and she smiled brightly.
"Indeed, I forgot everything but remembered this phrase, 'Only I, True and Unique.' Is it a supreme truth, a clue, or a reminder to follow my heart?"
Shaohua naturally placed her left hand behind her back and her right hand in front, facing the rising sun, bathed in the morning light, as if wearing a radiant robe.
Her ethereal beauty was truly extraordinary.
"Hmm, what do I see here?"
"A young calf, so tender... Oh, it fainted. What a pity. I guess it's destined to be eaten."
"Moo?!!"
The Yellow Bull almost died of fright, swearing it hadn't heard anything, though it couldn't understand even if it did.
But the words echoed in its mind, resonating with its soul, forcing understanding.
It let out a low growl, opening its eyes, and saw the graceful figure leaning over it, her gaze predatory.
"Moo!" (Don't come closer!)
The Yellow Bull trembled, trying to back away, but its legs wouldn't move.
Damn legs, move!
As the Yellow Bull watched in terror, a crystal-clear hand landed on its head, and it imagined a skull-crushing sound.
"Nothing happened, no one was hurt. That's good."
Chu Feng, who had been out all night saving people, finally returned, finding the courtyard eerily quiet. Had the bull escaped?
When he entered the gate, he didn't see the golden figure at first, but eventually spotted it in the corner of the garden.
"Yellow Bull, don't move around. Be careful in the garden; don't step on my seeds. I'm counting on them to grow a Queen Mother of Heaven and a Celestial Maiden!" Chu Feng said.
Suddenly, he felt a chill, cold sweat breaking out, his hair standing on end.
"Finally back, I've been waiting for you. Have you decided where to bury me?"
A cold voice echoed, sending shivers down Chu Feng's spine, and he fainted.
Shaohua was surprised. Are young people so easily frightened?
But to be fair, she wasn't trying to scare him. After all, he had planned to fertilize the seeds yesterday.
Yes, she had grown from one of those seeds!
