Chapter 218: Car Sickness? Strong Treatment
Chapter 218: Car Sickness? Strong Treatment
"Milah, do you have more detailed information?"
"Just a moment." Milah quickly flipped through more information about the client. "The client is Mr. Yopa from Poppo Town..."
Milah stood up, recalling that Poppo Town was one of the towns that Rhod and Erza visited to deal with the Black Magic Cult's kidnapping of children.
So, this child named Liss must be the one who escaped back home alone...
"It's her." Rhod's heart tightened.
At the time, the mayor of Poppo Town had sworn that Liss had safely returned home, but was too young and frightened to describe her escape.
The mayor even repeatedly assured them that he had seen Liss himself, and she was indeed safe and sound, so Rhod and Erza didn't think much of it, only feeling relieved.
Now it seems they might have made a mistake back then.
"Milah." Rhod looked at Milah, seeking her opinion.
Milah nodded, agreeing that Erza should be informed. She called out for Rhod:
"Erza, can you come over here for a moment?"
Erza, a bit puzzled, put down her fork used for eating cake.
"What's up?"
"Take a look at this first." Rhod handed her the information.
Erza quickly skimmed through it: "Liss?"
Rhod nodded: "Most likely, it's the same Liss."
"Did we make a mistake in our work?" Erza frowned, thinking for a moment, then said, "I plan to go back and take a look. What about you?"
"I had the same idea," Rhod said. "At the very least, we need to determine whether there are remaining members of the Black Magic Cult, or if the Council's team failed to properly seal that demon."
Erza nodded: "Alright, I'll go prepare now."
"Wait a moment." Rhod stopped her. "Before we go to Poppo Town, I want to visit the Cat Cafe first."
"The Cat Cafe? Why?"
"Because the best-case scenario is that Liss really has a strange illness, not a curse. We need a Mage who can heal her. The only one I know is Venti from the Cat Cafe. She came to our guild during the Harvest Festival."
Erza seemed to recall: "She brought a small white cat, right?"
"That's right, her name is Sharo, and she can fly just like Happy."
At the mention of the keyword, Happy, who had even left his fish on Worm's plate, exclaimed: "Are we looking for Sharo? I want to go too!"
Milah said: "Happy, don't be disruptive. Rhod and Erza are going to work."
Happy insisted: "I'll just join their team, I can help, and I don't need any reward!"
Milah asked: "What about Natsu?"
"I'll go ask him, but I'm definitely going!" Happy, not even willing to walk the short distance, flew off to find Natsu.
Milah asked: "Should we bring them along?"
Rhod showed a troubled expression, as Natsu was too destructive. Moreover, Natsu had also said he absolutely did not want to team up with Erza.
Erza, however, said: "It might be good to bring Natsu. In the worst-case scenario, we may need to face a Demon, and having an extra hand would be helpful."
"Happy, don't pull me! I don't want to team up with Erza!"
"Hurry up, Natsu, they're about to leave!"
Happy tugged on Natsu's scarf, dragging him over.
Natsu, possibly worried about his scarf being damaged, didn't fully resist.
Erza said sternly: "Natsu, we have a mission that may require your strength. Please help us."
"Aye!" Natsu said in Happy's voice.
Rhod gave him a disdainful look.
Natsu, with his neck stiff: "I'm only doing this for Happy... What's the mission, anyway?"
Erza said: "I'll explain on the way. For now, go pack your things, and meet us at the station."
"I'll have the Crabs take you."
Erza, who lived in the girls' dorm, was fine, but Natsu and Happy, who lived outside the city, were too far away. Rhod summoned two Crabs to assist them.
Watching the two and the cat leave, Milah grabbed Rhod’s arms: "Why don’t I come with you? If the opponent is a Demon..."
"Guild Master is going to a meeting in a few days, and we don’t know how long it will last. If you’re not here, the guild might really be torn down."
If Milah were still an S-rank Mage, Rhod wouldn’t have hesitated, but now... Although Milah has experience dealing with Demons, she can’t even use Reception Magic, and Rhod couldn’t risk taking her.
As for using the Demon’s threat to help her recover her powers... there was no need to take such a risk.
Besides, they might not even encounter a Demon.
Rhod hugged Milah, lowering his head to rub his cheek against her hair: "Stay home and wait for me."
"Okay." Milah put her hands on Rhod’s back and gently hugged him, "Be careful on the way."
...
"Help, put me down..."
As soon as the train started moving, Natsu looked like he had lost half his life.
"I want to go with the Crabs, or even run... just put me down..."
Rhod sighed: "We still have to sit on a boat for half a day, Natsu. You’re in for a treat."
Natsu’s face showed a deep sense of despair.
"I’m sorry, Natsu, it’s all because of my selfishness." Happy felt a bit guilty.
Unlike their usual work outings, this time Natsu had to endure the pain of car sickness because of him.
Natsu, in this moment, showed his tough side: "It’s okay... Happy, since I promised, I’ll stick it out... ugh."
Erza told Happy to move aside and patted the seat next to her, "You’re hopeless. Come sit here."
"Lu..." Natsu struggled over and sat next to Erza.
Erza decisively punched Natsu in the stomach, and he immediately passed out, falling onto her lap.
"Natsu!" Happy was shocked.
"Hey..." Rhod was also stunned. This girl was too quick to take action against her own teammates.
Was she used to hitting people?
Erza matter-of-factly said, "This way, Natsu won’t get car sick."
"Well, that’s true, he’s out cold." Rhod commented, "But how am I supposed to explain the mission to him now?"
Erza was taken aback, clenched her fist, and showed a ‘regretful’ expression: "I was careless. I should have explained it to him first... I’ll wake him up now."
"No, no, no! The train will reach the station soon, and then we have to wait for the boat. We can explain it to him later." Rhod quickly stopped her.
Good grief, if he woke up now, she’d just knock him out again after explaining the mission, right?
Natsu doesn’t deserve that!
"Alright." Erza nodded, agreeing that this was a better plan.
Happy noticed something—Rhod actually dared to contradict Erza’s decision and could easily change her mind!
He tugged on Rhod’s clothes and whispered, "Rhod, aren’t you afraid of Erza?"
Rhod asked, "Why should I be?"
Although he was initially intimidated by her dominant presence, because of Milah, Rhod quickly discovered her naturally ditzy and serious side, as well as her love for role-playing and her cooking.
Plus, after working together and fighting side by side, there wasn’t much to be afraid of anymore.
When they arrived in Hargeon, Erza explained the situation to Natsu.
Natsu enthusiastically declared that he was ‘fired up.’
But once they got on the boat, he looked half-dead again.
"Rhod... how much longer until we arrive..."
Natsu slumped over the railing, ready to vomit at any moment.
"If we’re lucky, we’ll arrive by nightfall. If not, we’ll have to spend the night on the boat."
"I want to swim there..." Natsu struggled to jump overboard, but Happy held him back.
Rhod patted his back: "Hang in there. I’ll lend you a Crab soon."
"Please... lend it to me now!"
