Chapter 216: The Princess's Quest 26-30
Chapter 216: The Princess’s Quest 26-30
"Daughter!" Emperor Ryder Goldenflower swept his hand toward the Forest City, a smile on his face.
"High-ranking warriors, major factions, and the great lords of the South have all gathered here, save for Claude Strife of Olan City, who is unavailable. Every other significant force is present."
"The city is now home to over 500,000 troops, and if we mobilize the entire population, that number will reach 700,000! With this strength, we can decisively defeat the rebels and reclaim Goldenflower City!"
"Father, when do you plan to set out?" Alysia asked.
However, Sivan, who controlled Alysia, wore a sneer of disdain.
The emperor’s penchant for war and militarism, coupled with widespread famine, had ultimately led to the rise of rebels and the loss of half the kingdom.
It was astounding that he was now considering using 200,000 civilians in the war. Was he not afraid that Forest City might also rebel?
But Sivan had no intention of warning the emperor.
The emperor chuckled smugly, "I will lead the troops in two weeks. Daughter, you only need to stay in Forest City and await my triumphant return."
"Understood, Father." Alysia, controlled by Sivan, replied.
Alysia was highly revered among the people, and the citizens of Forest City had gathered spontaneously to welcome the princess.
The main streets were lined with people shouting Alysia’s name and throwing petals at her.
As evening approached, the emperor hosted a grand welcoming banquet for his daughter.
Su Yu, however, was not invited and did not attend.
But after the banquet, Su Yu was summoned to the princess’s palace.
The Princess’s Palace
Guard Commander Keldron escorted Su Yu into the palace’s grand hall and then left with the guards and servants.
The vast hall was now empty except for Princess Alysia and Su Yu.
Alysia sat on her high throne, looking down at Su Yu below. "Greetings, adventurer. I need you to deliver a secret letter to Roland, the chief mage of Silver Pine Tower. I trust you can deliver it without being noticed."
Alysia tossed the letter, and it floated gently into Su Yu’s hands.
Ding! Your main quest has been updated! [The Glory of the Goldenflower Empire (27/100)].
Quest Objective: Deliver [a letter containing classified information] to Roland at 313 Rick Street. Time remaining: 29:58.
Quest Reward: 10,000 experience points.
Su Yu glanced at the letter, then looked up at Alysia. "Sivan, why not send one of your own trusted agents to deliver the letter? Are you not afraid that the God of Protection, Kevin Goldenflower, and the emperor will find out?"
"Ha ha." A cold laugh echoed from a distant part of the hall, unmistakably Sivan. "The emperor is a mere puppet, not worth considering. As for the God of Protection, Kevin Goldenflower..."
Sivan paused, then added with a sneer, "Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if the ‘esteemed God of Protection’ found out. He would certainly fly into a rage, wouldn’t he? Ha ha ha ha!"
Sivan’s laughter was laced with derision.
"Are you not afraid that the God of Protection will come after you personally?" Su Yu’s face darkened.
"Relax. His true form is trapped in the New World and can’t escape. Do you think he’s still the all-powerful savior he once was? As for his avatar, I simply didn’t want to expend my magic last time. If it dares to show up again, I’ll tear it apart in a heartbeat!" Sivan’s tone was filled with disdain.
"Go and deliver the messages, and don't forget to tell Kevin Plantagenet the content of each letter. Let the old man have a good laugh."
Su Yu: "..."
Su Yu could only sigh inwardly at Sivan's words. There was nothing he could do about Sivan's fearless attitude, so he had to follow the main quest and take it one step at a time.
For the next 27th to 29th stages of the princess’s storyline, Su Yu, under Sivan's orders, transformed into an unfeeling "mail delivery robot." He delivered letters to various important figures and returned with their replies to Sivan.
These important figures included:
- Rolande, a 7th-rank mage from the Silver Pine Spire;
- Andrew, a 7th-rank legendary mercenary from the Mercenary Guild;
- Charles Plantagenet, the 7th-rank Grand Marshal of the Empire;
- Michel Delance, the Lord of Pearl City;
- The Lord of Seabreeze City;
- Essentially, he delivered letters to the leaders of all major powers within the city.
For the 30th stage of the quest, Sivan gathered all these leaders.
Under his leadership, a large group of people marched to the Emperor's palace, formally confronting the Emperor and demanding that he relinquish his power.
...
In the grand hall of the palace, Emperor Plantagenet sat on his throne, looking gravely at the crowd below.
Among the crowd were not only Ailecia and Sivan but also three 7th-rank powerhouses and the leaders of various factions.
The Emperor realized the situation was dire.
"Ailecia, why have you brought these people here?" the Emperor demanded sternly.
"Father." Ailecia bowed to her father and said, "Your poor military policies have left the people of the Empire homeless and suffering. The Empire now needs a new leader to guide the people forward."
"A new leader?" The Emperor's eyes widened in horror. "You're planning a rebellion?!"
Behind the Emperor, the only 7th-rank powerhouse loyal to him, Shara, raised her wand to protect him.
However, Shara had known about Sivan's plans for rebellion and was not entirely committed to protecting the Emperor.
"Yes, Father, it's time for you to step down." Ailecia took a black longsword from Sivan and slowly walked toward the throne.
"No, you can't!" the Emperor exclaimed in shock.
He found himself unable to move, likely under the effect of a binding spell.
Shara, who had been standing in front of the Emperor, saw Ailecia ascending the steps to the throne and, under the pressure from Sivan and his companions, lowered her head and stepped aside, signaling her stance.
Thud!
The black longsword pierced the Emperor's abdomen, enveloping him in a thick black mist.
Ailecia promptly removed a ruby ring from her father's thumb.
The ruby ring symbolized the Emperor's authority and could only be worn by direct descendants of the Plantagenet family.
Sivan walked up to the throne and said with satisfaction, "Well done, Ailecia."
"This time, we owe it to you, Lord Sivan." Ailecia stroked the ruby ring in her hand.
"Ailecia, issue the order for all the city's residents to gather in the central square according to the plan."
"Understood, Lord Sivan."
"As for the rest of you," Sivan looked at the leaders of the major factions below, "follow your respective plans to assist Ailecia in bringing the residents to the square. Take those who have been used away and maintain order as much as possible."
"Understood, Lord Sivan," the leaders of the major factions replied. "We hope you can successfully break through to the 8th rank and become a divine-level powerhouse."
