Chapter 215: The Strongest in Paradise in 800 Years
Chapter 215: The Strongest in Paradise in 800 Years
"Breakout."
Shakky froze for a moment and looked at Luffy, "Do you know him?"
"Yes, we even partied together!"
Luffy grinned, "He's not a good person, but I don't dislike him. He's an interesting guy, hahaha!"
"Oh? That's impressive."
Shakky laughed, "It seems the World Government has covered up this news. Not just anyone can make it out of that place. The last person to do something like this was someone twenty years ago. Anyway, as it stands, there are now fifteen pirates with bounties over 100 million berries."
"Fifteen?" Chopper exclaimed in shock.
"Yes,"
Shakky said, holding a cigarette, "Apart from Little Monkey and Little Roronoa, there are thirteen others here. They've all traversed the first half of the Grand Line's seven routes, enduring countless dangers to reach this place and cross this cliff. All the world's pirates during the same period tend to gather here. At the same time, anyone who reaches this place and has a bounty over 100 million berries is called a 'Supernova'."
"But usually, there are only about two or three each year. This year is the most surprising, especially for you, Saga, Kid, Luffy, Hawkins, Drake, and Law. All of you with bounties over 200 million berries are frequently mentioned in the newspapers."
"I don't read newspapers." Luffy adjusted his straw hat.
"That's why information is a weapon. As it stands, if your information is correct, the appearance of the Natural Disaster Pirate Crew also indicates that Saga is here. So, Little Monkey, your bounty is only the third highest here." Shakky smiled.
"Someone has a higher bounty than Luffy!" Chopper exclaimed.
"Anyone who makes it here is not to be underestimated. This sea is not only special because of Little Monkey; all fifteen pirates with bounties over 100 million berries have their exceptional strengths."
"I'll share this information with you, too."
...
24GR.
One of the lawless zones that the World Government couldn't control.
Contrary to what one might expect, places like this did have facilities, and quite a lot of them. Due to lack of management, many organizations that the World Government didn't officially allow were hidden here. From time to time, pirates with bounties on their heads would also gather here.
In terms of industry, it wasn't much different from other archipelagos.
In a certain restaurant.
A woman with long, pink straight hair and a golden semi-circular earring below her right eye sat at a table with her legs crossed. She kept grabbing food from the table and tearing off pieces of meat with bones, and when she finished a plate, she would throw it to the ground, shattering it as she shouted:
"More! I want more!" The woman's loud voice startled the people dining around her.
There was a girl at a table piled high with empty plates, causing people to marvel at how all that food had fit into her stomach.
From the South Sea, 'Big Eater' Jewelry Bonney, with a bounty of 140 million berries.
On another table in the restaurant, a group of people dressed in suits and holding weapons, looking like the mafia, surrounded a short man who was cutting a steak.
"Shut up, you vulgar woman. You're ruining my appetite."
He picked up the napkin around his neck and wiped his mouth, glancing at her and saying, "Go take care of her."
"Don't you think that's a bit much, Godfather?"
One of the men guarding him stepped forward, "This archipelago is right under the nose of the Navy Headquarters. If we cause a disturbance now..."
Pfft!
The short man grabbed a fork and stabbed it viciously into the man's eye, causing him to cry out and fall to the ground.
"My orders are absolute!" The short man coldly huffed.
From the West Sea, 'Gang Boss' Capone Bege, with a bounty of 138 million berries.
Apart from these two, a group of people walked into the restaurant.
At the forefront was a pink-haired loli and a blonde with big, wavy hair.
"This restaurant is quite lively."
Scanning the inside, Rebecca asked, "Is it worth robbing?"
"There's nothing worth stealing in a restaurant. It's not Saga's target."
The blonde-haired man was, of course, Hawkins. He glanced around the restaurant and looked at the woman creating a ruckus at her table and the short man sitting at another table, saying indifferently:
"Looks like the food here is pretty good, attracting quite a few people."
Ever since they entered the Shabondy Archipelago on the Death Prophecy, they had been acting separately. Since they needed to find out where was worth robbing, and it would be too slow with just Law and the others, the rest of the group decided to split up and take a look around as well.
Aojin, on the other hand, stayed on board with two hundred men, standing guard and awaiting their turn to relieve the others.
The ones who came to gather information at No. 24 were none other than Hawkins and Reinitis.
Initially, Maryka had accompanied them, but after arriving, she had expressed a desire to explore the surrounding area for any interesting ingredients and had parted ways with them. So, it was just Reinitis and Hawkins who found themselves in this particular restaurant.
Reinitis had little interest in ingredients; instead, due to her fortunetelling abilities, she hoped to find some useful shipbuilding materials. But before that, the two of them intended to have a meal.
As for Hawkins, his eyes immediately fell upon the familiar faces that often graced the newspaper—the Big Eater and the Gang Boss.
At the same time, Beige also noticed the two who had just entered through the front door. His eyes narrowed, and a smile curved onto his face as he called out,
"Well, well, if it isn't 'Magician' Hawkins. What a pity that you're still lingering in this place. Hey, how about joining my family?"
"It's 'Gang Boss' Capone Bege," he introduced himself.
In response, Hawkins drew a tarot card and stated, "According to my reading, you don't seem to have a death mark today. But if you insist, I can always twist your fate and ensure you die right here, right now."
Upon hearing this, the guards surrounding Bege scowled and glared at Hawkins with ill intent.
"Hmm," Hawkins murmured.
At that very moment, Reinitis's eyes landed on the pink-haired woman who was gorging herself on food—Bonney. A spark of curiosity ignited within her as she noticed their identical fur colors.
"Hurry up with the food! Why is it taking so long? It's not enough; I'm still hungry!" Bonney shouted, kicking over the stack of plates on the table.
After letting out a loud cry, she noticed Reinitis staring at her, and she returned the gaze, their eyes locking for just a moment. Suddenly, it was as if sparks were flying between them.
"What are you looking at? Have you never seen me before?" Bonney shouted aggressively.
"How dare you call yourself 'old lady' in front of me?!" Reinitis countered, brandishing her mechanical hammer. "Believe me, I'll smash you to bits with this hammer! Just because you know how to put on makeup doesn't make you so great!"
Hearing this exchange, Palu, who was following behind Reinitis, furrowed his brows, confused.
Why would she mention makeup?
The so-called Big Eater, Bonney, had only applied a peculiar heart-shaped lipstick on her lower lip, leaving the rest of her mouth untouched. The rest of her face was clean and free of any makeup.
"This is a sign of maturity!" Bonney boasted with a confident smile. "It's something that little brats like you could never understand!"
"You wretched woman, are you picking a fight with me?!" Reinitis retorted through gritted teeth. "It's just lipstick; Sage buys it for me!"
"You still need an adult to buy it for you? I can put it on myself!" Bonney shouted back.
The two women didn't physically confront each other, but their intense stares and fiery gazes spoke volumes.
For some reason, Reinitis felt a strong sense of discomfort whenever she looked at this woman.
Although she appeared to be a young girl, Reinitis couldn't shake the feeling of annoyance!
It was as if... as if this woman was deliberately putting on an act of maturity to match her own age!
Damn it, that feeling of wanting to appear more mature—she wanted it too!
Bang!
Just then, the confrontation between Hawkins and Bege escalated into activity. Bege's right eye mysteriously changed, showing multiple small openings that, upon closer examination, looked like a miniature window. A diminutive sniper rifle emerged from inside this "window," releasing a crisp snap as it discharged a round. The rifle subsequently withdrew into Bege's eye, immediately converting into a regular-sized bullet in the form of a shoestring. This bullet hit Hawkins precisely on the forehead, making his head snap backwards due to the impact.
Bang!
Simultaneously, one of the guards standing beside Bege collapsed, a bullet hole appearing in his head as he fell backward.
Hawkins slowly adjusted his head back to its original position, and a straw doll with a bullet hole in its head dropped from his arm.
He drew his sword from his waist, declaring, "It seems that today, you wish to experience the embrace of death."
If it had been the old him, knowing that this person didn't have a death mark for the day, he wouldn't have taken action so readily. He would have respected and abided by the will of fate.
But now...
Ever since joining the Natural Disaster Pirate Crew, his time in the Golden Country, and the recent training with Sage, Hawkins had undergone a transformation. He had shed his reverence for fate and was now ready to challenge it.
The training he underwent was called the 'Blood Disaster' project.
Sage had him perform fortunetelling readings to predict whether Hawkins would be injured that day.
If the reading indicated that he would be injured...
Sage would ensure that he wasn't.
But if the reading showed that he wouldn't be injured...
Sage would make sure that he absolutely would be!
After all, even fortunetelling couldn't predict things with 100% accuracy. There was no such thing as absolute fate that couldn't be changed.
And Hawkins, while still using fortunetelling as a guide, had shifted his mindset from adhering to fate to challenging and defying it.
He found it equally intriguing to take someone without a death mark and twist their fate to give them one.
...
Outside the restaurant, still within the No. 24 zone, a wall of a tavern was violently broken through.
A man wearing old-fashioned clothing, long hair, and the symbol 'Sound' on his chest jumped out, his two arms, distinct from regular human ones, having an extra elbow joint. With these extraordinary limbs, he announced, [
"If you want to fight, then come out and do it properly! Hey, you there, do you know who I am? Do you know the might of this sir here?"
"This man's teeth are even styled like piano keys."
A man from the Grand Line, 'Sea Howl' Scratchman Aphe, with a bounty of 198,000,000 berries.
And from within that hole, a red-haired guy slowly emerged, his face contorted in a sinister grin. "Then don't stare at me with those disgusting eyes."
He licked his tongue, drew the short dagger at his waist, and cackled, "You look absolutely revolting!"
Simultaneously, at the 21st Archipelago...
Maryka was strolling among the nearby stalls, selecting some fruit.
The ingredients here were quite characteristic of the Shabondy Archipelago, especially the abundant selection of fruits that caught Maryka's attention.
Boom! Just as she was making her selections, a gigantic figure crashed into the stall in front of Maryka, toppling the fruit displays.
A man with small wings on his back, wielding a giant diamond-shaped pencil, and wearing a large bead around his neck, stumbled and then floated up with a sinister laugh, charging toward a masked man with two scythes.
Maryka, on the other hand, stared at the shattered fruit on the ground, her gentle smile freezing on her face.
"Lady Maryka," Bellamy, who was following behind her, said, "That's 'Monster Monk' Ulqi and 'Killer Samurai' Kira."
Just as the two were about to continue their attack, a man wearing a swordmaster's hat and an eye patch rushed out, holding a sword in his left hand and an axe in his right, blocking the pencil shaft and scythe of the opposing duo.
"If you want to fight, do it in the New World. This isn't the place to show off your strength."
The man halted their attack and, after glancing at them, walked away with his companions.
"Hey, Captain Drake, you're interrupting a good show right now," a man with a spotted winter hat on the wooden box narrator called out, lifting his head. "And it looks like you didn't manage to stop them either."
Drake glanced at him, as if sensing something, then turned his head. A two-meter-tall woman with long black straight hair approached Ulqi with a smile and said, "Could you please apologize for destroying the food? It's very rude, you know."
...
"The Fallen Brigadier with a bounty of 220,000,000 berries, 'Red Flag' X Drake."
"The 'Death Surgeon' with a bounty of 200,000,000 berries, Trafalgar Law."
"These people are all well-known pirates."
Shakky lit another cigarette. "Among them is Captain Eustass Kid, with a bounty of 315,000,000 berries, which is higher than Little Monkey's. The only difference is that his bounty is a result of massacring a large number of civilians."
"However, compared to the Natural Disaster Pirate Crew, these people, including you, are somewhat different. At best, your crew has two Supernovas, but the Natural Disaster Pirate Crew..."
Shakky held out her palm. "...has five."
"Five? Five Supernovas?" Chopper widened his eyes in astonishment. "That many?"
"Hmm? Don't you know them?" Shakky gave them a strange look.
"I think I've heard of them," Luffy said, scratching his chin as he racked his brains.
He didn't read newspapers or follow news about bounties. Although he had heard that the White-Haired Man's subordinates had high bounties, he hadn't bothered to ask about it. Aside from Nami occasionally expressing gratitude to Saga for the berries he had given them, the crew didn't often mention it.
Luffy himself didn't care much about bounty amounts.
He only knew that the White-Haired Man was incredibly strong.
Shakky smiled and didn't press the issue. "The 'Magician' Basil Hawkins, the 'Blast Hammer' Reinitis, the 'Raven-Haired' Maryka, and the 'Sword Princess' Bindoletta Lily. Especially Hawkins, who was previously a pirate captain himself. It's unclear why he joined the Natural Disaster Pirate Crew."
"In terms of numbers, their Supernova count makes up a third of the newcomers here. And their captain, with a bounty of 600,000,000 berries, is double that of Little Monkey's."
Shakky's voice turned low. "'Disaster' Saga, touted as the highest-bounty newcomer in the 'Paradise' in 800 years. If we're talking about escapees from Impel Down, he might very well be the strongest."
...
22nd Island.
At a house with a plaque that read 'Human Shop', Miot pushed open the door and stood to the side. Footsteps approached, and a man wearing a black cloak with red trim and a woman with true golden hair walked in.
Saga scanned the people confined within the glass cabinets and smiled. "As expected, they're selling them here too."
