Chapter 215: Rescuing the White Dragon
Lanpu said, “Master, based on the intelligence provided by the Stellarfallen, to reach the upper levels, we should first activate the Gravity Device.”
Kai Xiusu shook his head. “No time. I’m going to punch straight through this tower.”
Before the words even left his lips, Kai Xiusu suddenly unfurled his wings and shot upward without hesitation.
【Graceful as a Dragon】 surged through him—his wings blurred into afterimages, his speed reaching terrifying limits.
The Red Dragon reared high, its maw splitting open like a furnace of blood, unleashing a column of searing flame. The thick metal floor, several feet thick, melted instantly, punched through with ease, leaving a gaping hole several meters wide. Molten iron poured down from the edges like molten tears, yet Kai Xiusu paid it no mind.
In mere moments, the flame column had already torn through the ceiling of the lower level, surging ever higher.
【Through Fire and Flame】
Kai Xiusu transformed into living fire, using the hole forged by the flame column to slice through layer after layer.
Any monster or device in his path was instantly reduced to ash by the inferno, or crushed to pulp by the sheer force of his accelerating form. One dragonized beast, caught off guard, was engulfed by his body, torn apart and turned into a bloody pulp.
The Tower of Eternal Night—twenty-eight stories tall—was, in Kai Xiusu’s eyes at that moment, no more than a toy.
Lanpu stared in disbelief, utterly overwhelmed. He could barely keep up, forced to maintain a protective spell while casting flight spells one after another, climbing layer by layer. By the time he reached the twelfth floor, he was gasping for breath.
But Kai Xiusu had already arrived at the top.
All of this had taken only seconds.
Boom!
The blazing white flame column pierced through the metal floor.
Then, the flame erupted into wild, dancing flames—before coalescing into the massive form of a Red Dragon.
【Heaven’s Judgment Dragon Eye】—capable only of glimpsing a fragment of the future—now faltered. As Kai Xiusu ascended to the highest level, the destined future was disrupted. The vision blurred, recalculating itself anew.
The White Dragon imprisoned at the summit stirred from her slumber, struggling to open her eyes.
Kai Xiusu studied her.
Her face bore scales, her body draped with multiple fleshy spines, and jagged teeth jutted from her closed maw. A crown of backward-curving spines arched from her head—undoubtedly a White Dragon, unmistakable. From the Red Dragon’s current perspective, even with its species-wide dominance, she was a strikingly beautiful young specimen.
Her pure white scales and youthful proportions revealed she was still in her prime—only around a hundred years old.
Yet what startled Kai Xiusu was her size—fifteen meters long.
For a Red Dragon, such a stature was ordinary. But for a White Dragon? That was the size of an ancient or even a primordial elder.
To be considered a worthy rival to a Red Dragon of her age—let alone one of the “Shame of the Five-Colored Dragons”—was already a staggering honor.
“Hmph… this is what ancestral dragon blood looks like?” Kai Xiusu mused inwardly.
Facing such a powerful kin, Tiniya—the White Dragon—hesitated for only a moment before lowering her head, letting out a low, desperate whimper.
White Dragons, though isolated in mountainous regions, occasionally clashed with nearby Red Dragons. But they were wise enough to avoid stronger foes. Red Dragons typically dismissed White Dragons as unworthy opponents—often amused by their attempts to flee, and delighted to let them vanish from sight (and mind). They knew their own superiority.
"Roar!"
“You can’t speak?” Kai Xiusu frowned, using Dragon Tongue.
Though often mocked as a “white beast,” a young White Dragon should still possess the intellect of a child, perhaps seven or eight years old. Had Wagner broken her mind?
He didn’t know that mastering Dragon Tongue for everyday conversation was a difficult task for White Dragons—even some never fully mastered it, even in old age. And this one? She’d been imprisoned since hatchlinghood, cut off from all contact with the outside world.
"Roar!"
Tiniya nodded, letting out a soft, affirmative growl.
“….”
She couldn’t speak, but she could understand.
That was enough.
If communication was possible, the rest would be simple.
The Red Dragon spread his wings and stepped forward.
“Wagner. Do you know him?”
Hearing the name, Tiniya’s face twisted in fury. Her scales bristled, her fangs bared in a snarl—a mix of terror and hatred.
Though not the wisest of beings, White Dragons possessed excellent memories—especially of events they’d witnessed or endured. They remembered every slight, every failure, and were known for exacting brutal vengeance upon those who had wronged them.
Kai Xiusu casually projected the image from 【Heaven’s Judgment Dragon Eye】—a warning.
“This is what I’ve seen… your future.”
“Hopeless.”
In the vision, the White Dragon was devoured, turned into nourishment for monsters—eaten alive.
Tiniya’s gaze filled with dread. Her wings shrank inward, her entire body trembling. She felt it—this was real. This was coming.
Kai Xiusu, towering above her, locked eyes with her beast-like vertical pupils—seeing within them a desperate yearning for freedom, and an endless, boiling hatred for the mage who had imprisoned her.
That was enough.
“But the future is not set in stone, White Dragon.”
“Submit to me, and I will free you. And then… I will kill Wagner.”
Tiniya’s gaze flickered—first confusion, then hesitation. Finally, a low, mournful growl escaped her throat.
"Awooo…"
Due to the Dragon Confinement Spell, she couldn’t move much. But she turned her head slightly, exposing her fragile neck—a symbolic gesture of complete submission.
White Dragons were one of the few True Dragons capable of being tamed. But this one—bearing ancient blood—possessed a unique pride. Even after being imprisoned for nearly a century, she had never fully submitted to her tormentor. She had resisted, endlessly, futilely.
But now, facing imminent death, and with submission offered by a being of far greater bloodline—by a Red Dragon—submission was no longer defiance. It was survival.
“Good.”
“You made the right choice.”
Kai Xiusu smirked.
The Red Dragon raised his claws, and a shimmering arc of arcane energy flared—crackling like lightning.
【Wagner’s Dragon Binding Array】—a rune structure studied for months by every spellcaster in the Royal Realm—was complex, but not unbreakable. Though its exact mechanism remained elusive, like any structured system, disrupting its order was far easier than restoring it.
Lanpu had already discussed the method of destruction with the court mages of the Kingdom of Ashen a month prior. And Kai Xiusu knew it well.
“Phew… phew… Master, I’m late…” Lanpu gasped, dragging himself out of the hole, exhausted.
When he saw the scene before him, he understood instantly. Without hesitation, he rushed forward, staff raised, summoning blazing fireballs to obliterate the Dragon Scales and Dragon Blood—key nodes of the Rune Array—ruthlessly dismantling its structure.
