Chapter 215: Open, Gate of Restraint!
Chapter 215: Open, Gate of Restraint!
Boom!
Might Guy launched a rapid series of attacks, pushing his body to its absolute limit, but to no avail.
The Cloud Hidden Jonin he faced was equally skilled, perhaps even more experienced. If not for Guy's slight advantage in speed, the situation could have been much worse.
Anxiety began to creep into Guy's heart. He knew he had to defeat his opponent quickly, or Kakashi and Obito would be in grave danger.
The more Guy rushed to defeat his opponent, the more openings he left, and the Cloud ninja caught on, forcing him back over a meter with a well-placed strike.
As Guy retreated, he spared a glance at Kakashi and Obito. They were struggling under Berkely's relentless assault, their clothes torn and tattered, already bearing the marks of battle.
"I need more strength, I need to open more gates..." Guy knew that this was a critical moment.
If he didn't defeat his opponent soon, it wouldn't be him joining Kakashi and Obito to gang up on Berkely; it would be Berkely and the Cloud ninja ganging up on him.
The first three gates of the Eight Inner Gates were considered the 'safe zone', so the progression was relatively quick compared to the latter gates, which were more challenging to cultivate.
Following Mu Yue's guidance, Guy had shifted his training focus to the Eight Inner Gates, and it had been nearly a month since he successfully opened the first gate.
Before this mission, he had attempted to open the second gate but failed.
Guy hadn't thought much of it at the time; after all, his father had taken twenty years to master this forbidden technique, so he knew it wouldn't be easy.
But now, faced with this dire situation, he had to try again, and he had to succeed. He needed the power of the additional gates.
"This forbidden technique can harm your body if used beyond your capacity, so you must exercise self-restraint," Guy recalled his father's words as he taught him the Eight Inner Gates.
Guy knew that even if he managed to open the second gate, he likely wouldn't be able to do so without any repercussions, as he had with the first. But now was the time to cast aside restraint. No matter the cost, he needed greater strength.
"True victory is not about defeating the strong. It's about protecting what's important to you until the very end," Guy silently recited his father's words, feeling a deep resonance with them.
"Aaahhh!"
Guy's eyes widened with determination as he roared, his chakra erupting from his body as he attempted to open the second of the Eight Inner Gates and gain unparalleled power.
Sensing Guy's actions, the Cloud ninja cautiously backed away, his gaze fixed on Guy with utmost vigilance.
Perhaps Guy's training in the Eight Inner Gates wasn't sufficient, or perhaps it had been too soon after opening the first gate. Despite his efforts, he couldn't open the second gate, and his momentum gradually faded.
"You scared me there, kid. All that screaming and nothing happened," the Cloud ninja taunted as he lunged at Guy, having assumed that Guy was preparing some terrifying technique. He followed up with a Lightning Punch, clearly unimpressed.
Guy narrowly dodged the attack with his Super Percceptive Ability, his heart sinking.
Unable to open more gates and gain greater strength, he couldn't swiftly defeat his opponent.
Boom!
Suddenly, there was a loud crash as Obito's body slammed into a nearby tree, causing it to shake violently, its branches trembling.
"Is there really no other way?" Guy clenched his fists tightly, desperately searching for a key to unlock the door to victory.
Then, a flash of inspiration struck Guy, and he thought of a way to forcibly open the second gate.
"The most important aspect of the Breathing Technique is, well, breathing," Mu Yue's lesson on the Breathing Technique echoed in Guy's mind. "It's about absorbing external energy to enhance yourself, allowing the qi to carry your chakra and fortify your body."
The Eight Gates were essentially eight restrictions located along the body's chakra channels, suppressing and controlling the chakra within.
The Breathing Technique, on the other hand, allowed one to absorb external energy to strengthen the physical body and direct chakra to enhance specific parts.
If he couldn't open the second gate through conventional means, he would use the Breathing Technique to forcibly break through the limit by borrowing external power! Guy had no idea what consequences this forced opening of the second gate might have, but he knew that now was the time to cast aside all restraints. Whatever the outcome, he would accept it.
"Obito, Kakashi, this time, I'll be the one to protect you," Guy declared, his expression resolute.
His breathing became exceptionally focused, and the qi he absorbed carried his chakra toward his head, where the second gate, the Gate of Restraint, was located.
"Aaahhh!"
Guy's head throbbed with intense pain, but he ignored it, his fists clenched tightly, his fingernails digging into his palms without him even noticing.
"Here he goes again," the Cloud ninja muttered, recognizing Guy's state from earlier. He wouldn't fall for it this time.
"Lightning Blast!"
The Cloud ninja channeled a large amount of chakra and altered its nature, enveloping his right leg in shimmering blue lightning before rushing toward Guy at incredible speed.
"Eight Inner Gates, second gate, Restraint Gate, open!"
Guy's aura surged, and he fixed his gaze on the approaching Cloud Hidden Jonin, determined to swiftly defeat his opponent.
"If I combine the second gate with full concentrated breathing, I should be able to use that move." Guy began to gather his strength, preparing to unleash a unique taijutsu he had developed.
Mu Yue often encouraged Guy to integrate the knowledge he gained from her lessons and create his own taijutsu techniques.
While Guy felt that the taijutsu Mu Yue taught him suited him well, he found her suggestion intriguing and decided to give it a try.
Guy's idea was to combine the 'Shave' technique with the 'Whirlwind Kick,' harnessing the momentum of his rapid sprint to deliver a powerful kick with multiple bursts of speed and force.
He named this technique "Noon Leopard" because of its explosive power akin to a leopard, and also because he came up with it during noon.
However, due to his previous lack of physical strength, Guy had attempted this technique numerous times without success.
Now, as he sensed the abundant flow of power within him, Guy knew that this time would be different.
"I was planning to save this for Kakashi, but I guess you'll be the first to experience it!"
Focusing his breathing to draw in power and harnessing the strength gained from unlocking the second gate, Guy channeled all this energy into his leg and charged towards the Cloud ninja.
"Noon Leopard!"
With Guy's roar, the Cloud Hidden Jonin immediately sensed a change in him—his aura intensified, and his speed increased.
"What's going on? How did he actually get stronger just from shouting?" The Cloud ninja was bewildered; something wasn't right.
Guy sprinted towards the Cloud ninja at full speed, while the Cloud ninja, having already expended a large amount of chakra on his ninjutsu, refused to give up and maintained his charge as well.
In the moment their legs clashed, a loud crash resounded. As Guy kicked out, the chakra erupting from his body faintly formed the shape of a leopard's head, and his kick resembled a leopard's fierce pounce, baring its fangs.
On one side was the Cloud ninja's full-power ninjutsu, and on the other was Guy's ultimate kick, concentrated with all his taijutsu might.
Boom!!
The stalemate didn't last long.
The next moment, the Cloud ninja flew backward like a broken kite, crashing into over a dozen trees before coming to a stop. The leg that had collided with Guy's kick could not withstand such immense force and exploded with blood, staining his entire leg red.
"How is this possible? How did he master such a powerful taijutsu?" These were the Cloud ninja's final thoughts before losing consciousness.
He couldn't comprehend how Guy, who appeared to be only around nine years old, could possess such formidable strength.
Moreover, Guy's abilities seemed to have skyrocketed after shouting something about protection and safeguarding.
"Huff, huff." Guy panted, his leg that had executed the Noon Leopard technique trembling slightly. This level of power was still a bit taxing for him.
The commotion also caught the attention of Kakashi, Obito, and even Berkeley.
"Guy's gotten even stronger!" Kakashi was astounded by Guy's powerful kick, which seemed to have surpassed the one that had defeated him in the past.
"Good job, Guy!" Obito cheered inwardly, relieved that Guy had arrived just in time, as he and Kakashi were barely holding on.
Guy, however, had no time to concern himself with his current state. He glanced at the Cloud ninja, who seemed to be unconscious, and immediately rushed towards Kakashi and Obito.
"He was hiding his strength, but it's all in vain," Berkeley remarked as he witnessed his subordinate's defeat. He remained unflustered, acknowledging that these kids had some tricks up their sleeves.
Still, he was no novice Jonin; Berkeley had been a Jonin for ten years and was a seasoned veteran. He had mastered all that he could, and any further improvement was limited by his talent.
"Be careful of his Lightning Release ninjutsu and kenjutsu. They're extremely powerful," Kakashi quickly retreated to join Guy and warned him.
Guy nodded, his expression grave as he eyed Berkeley. The fact that Kakashi and Obito had been pushed to such a dire state in a short time indicated that they were up against a formidable foe.
