Chapter 214: The Most Evil in History! The Fifteen Supernovas!
Chapter 214: The Most Evil in History! The Fifteen Supernovas!
After days of stormy weather, the dark and cloudy sky finally cleared, the sun breaking through the clouds to illuminate the vast ocean below.
"A rare sunny day," Lily remarked as she stepped out of the banquet hall on the first floor, glancing up at the sky and then at the outline of a tree-covered island in the distance. "Looks like we're here."
After sailing for days and enduring the stormy weather, they had finally reached their destination.
Typically, the Shambo Islands were not real islands in the conventional sense, lacking the magnetic force that characterized most landmasses. However, they were not impossible to find.
Anyone who had made it this far would undoubtedly have stocked up on magnetic force from the previous island, all with the intent of reaching Fishman Island. The Shambo Archipelago lay right beside the Red Line continent and was also quite close to Fishman Island. Naturally, when they couldn't find any trace of Fishman Island, they would veer left instead of going right, where Marineford and two other World Government agencies, along with the Gate of Justice, were located.
"Let's veer to the right," Lucci called out as he approached from the other side of the ship. "At this bearing, we'll only end up at the World Government and Marine landing port. The civilian port, which is less likely to be inspected, is to the right."
Ever since Saggs announced his plan a few days ago, Lucci had been in a state of internal conflict, alternating between excited cackling and cold indifference, his thoughts unknown.
"Alright," Lily nodded, turning back and heading upstairs. She knocked on the captain's room door a few times before pushing it open and stepping inside.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
As always, Saggs was in there, furiously polishing the Poneglyph, putting his whole body into it, ensuring that every part of his being could strike the ancient text. The powerful, deep-sounding attacks caused the captain's room to vibrate with each impact.
Faintly, one could see that the Poneglyph seemed to tremble ever so slightly with each blow it received.
Upon seeing Lily enter, Saggs delivered a forceful headbutt to the ancient text, creating a dull thud. In that moment, a clear gash appeared on his forehead, but just as quickly, a white mist emanated from the wound, and it healed without a trace.
"Saggs, we've arrived," Lily announced.
"We're finally here," Saggs said, moving to a nearby sofa and plopping down. He picked up a cigar box from the coffee table, drew out a cigar, and twirled it through the flame of a lighter before taking a puff. "Bring me a bottle of white wine...what was it called again?"
Lily walked over to the wine cabinet, extracted a bottle, and uncorked it with finesse. She then grabbed a gem-studded wine glass from the desk and poured the wine. Setting the glass down on the coffee table beside the sofa, she said, "Leffy."
"Mhm," Saggs acknowledged, puffing on his cigar and exhaling a cloud of smoke. He picked up the wine glass and leaned back comfortably, swirling the wine before downing it in one go.
"Why do these wines have such strange names? They should just be called 'Precious White Wine' or something memorable like that," Saggs commented.
Of course, this wine, like the others, had been looted, although Saggs couldn't quite recall where it had come from. It was from one of the heists during that half-month period, offered up by Arkin.
"The names are based on the vineyards, the region they're from, or the sellers. There are just too many types of wine, so unique names are necessary to distinguish them," Lily explained.
This bottle of "Levrai" white wine, similar to the "Romanee-Conti" in Sagg's wine cabinet, was a lavish wine worth a million berries.
"I'm going to take a shower. Tell the executives to wait for me on the deck," Saggs said, setting down his wine glass and stubbing out his cigar. He headed toward the bathroom, his upper body still bare.
Men didn't take long to shower.
Indeed, just a few minutes later, Saggs emerged, now dressed in a reddish-brown open-collar shirt and loose martial arts pants with a black pattern. His boots were tightly laced just above his ankles, and he wore a cape draped over his shoulders. He strode out of the captain's room and onto the deck.
At that moment, the black ship had reached the edge of the Shambo Archipelago, and towering trees and the lush greenery of the moss-covered land below came into view.
"Give me a rundown," Saggs requested, scanning the area.
"I'll do it! I'll do it!"
Owl eagerly raised his hand and jumped forward. "Captain Saggs, this is the Shambo Archipelago. There's no land stratum here—it's all made up of trees and roots forming massive islands. Each gigantic tree represents an island, and there are 79 of these trees in total, each with its own number."
From their current position, they could clearly see the large trees on the forward-most island, with markings like '45GR' and '44GR'.
As they gazed upon the trees, each one was like a small world unto itself, with buildings clustered beneath the canopy and vast empty spaces beyond.
"These islands are divided into different areas based on their numbers. But because they're so vast, even the World Government can't control every part of them. For example, areas 1 to 29 in the central region are known as lawless zones, home to all sorts of unsavory characters, including us and countless bounty hunters, chattering away."
"Are there a lot of bounty hunters?" Renetia asked.
"Yes, this is a mandatory stop for all pirates, so it attracts a lot of bounty hunters, or you could say they're part-timers since they often have side gigs like human traffickers and robbers, chattering away."
"Huh? I thought bounty hunters were just bounty hunters?" Renetia glanced at Saggs, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
As far as she could recall, Saggs had mentioned that he used to be a bounty hunter before becoming a pirate.
"I was a full-time bounty hunter, dedicated to that one profession. But most of them these days are part-timers," Saggs clarified.
Not all bounty hunters were virtuous; it was often a side job, and even pirates could masquerade as bounty hunters as long as the Navy didn't uncover their true identities.
However, Owl's mention of "human traffickers" sparked a thought in Saggs' mind.
"Human Traffickers," Saggs mused with a smile. "Right, there seem to be quite a few human trafficking shops around here. Alright, everyone's free to do as they please. We'll do shifts, leaving two hundred people on the ship while the rest enjoy some free time and gather information. Keep an eye out for places worth robbing, especially human trafficking shops. See if there's anyone who catches my eye, particularly those skilled in song and dance. Perhaps we can put together a song and dance troupe here."
He couldn't let this matter go.
After all their looting, they hadn't come across a single suitable candidate. Sometimes they'd find a decent town with an entertainment industry, but no one was willing to join Saggs' crew as performers.
If they lacked the guts and weren't to his liking, he'd just leave them be.
But Shambondies was different; as the midpoint, it was a melting pot of everything under the sun.
Perhaps he'd finally find his troupe here.
Then he could indulge in decadent feasts and nightly revelries!
"Pull yourselves together, men! We must find them this time! I refuse to enter the New World without a dedicated dance troupe as part of my crew!" Saggs shouted to his men.
While Awaki was a master of Kabuki, he was a man, and Saggs only wanted him to perform occasionally to liven up the atmosphere. What he truly desired was a troupe that would delight both his eyes and his ears!
"Aye, aye, Captain!" the pirates responded enthusiastically.
The massive black ship sailed into the archipelago of islands numbered 40 to 49, a designated landing area for civilians. Aside from the ordinary ships docked alongside the colossal tree roots, Saggs also spotted several pirate ships and...
"Saggs," Lily said, stepping closer to him and pointing to the other side.
In the distance, docked next to one of the tree roots, was a familiar ship.
Straw Hat's ship...
13GR.
Shakky's Rip-off Bar.
"Mhm, I know," Saggs acknowledged.
Shakky hung up the Den Den Mushi and turned to the stupefied Luffy, "For coating your ship, you should look in areas 1 to 29 since the Navy doesn't patrol there. Another option is the amusement park on Island 33."
"Amusement park!"
Luffy's eyes lit up. "Great! We can go to an amusement park, Kami! An amusement park!"
Shakky took a drag from her cigarette and exhaled a cloud of smoke. "Wherever you go, be careful. Information is your weapon. The latest update is that the 'Heavenly Disaster' pirate crew... entered after you."
"So that means there are now fourteen pirates with bounties of over 100 million berries on this island."
"Fourteen?!?" Brook exclaimed, his skull mouth agape.
"Yes, because 'Heavenly Disaster' Saggs is in prison. Otherwise, there would be fifteen pirates with bounties over 100 million," Shakky explained.
"Saggs?"
Luffy, Brook, and Chopper, who were in the bar, tilted their heads in unison.
"Saggs?" Luffy repeated, "He sounds familiar..."
"Luffy, it's Saggs, the guy we partied with a few days ago," Brook reminded him.
"Oh! The white-haired guy!" Luffy snapped his fingers and grinned, revealing his buck teeth. "The white-haired guy broke out of jail, huh!"
