Chapter 214: Gathering at the Burrow (Third Update)
Chapter 214: Gathering at the Burrow (Third Update)
Five days later, in the room at the Leaky Cauldron.
Standing by the bed, Jerry focused his mind and whispered the incantation:
"Apparition!"
A faint crackling sound echoed, and his figure vanished with the distortion of space, reappearing at the door.
Five days ago, after recounting the history of the Witching world over the years to the soul in the diary, Voldemort had very seriously guided Jerry in learning the Apparition spell to gain his trust.
Perhaps Voldemort's explanation was indeed very detailed, or perhaps Jerry had already done considerable research on spatial magic. In less than five days, he had managed to grasp the basics of Apparition.
And he used it quite well, with no limbs missing. This saved him from using the expensive Regeneration Potion that Snape had given him as a Christmas gift.
In reality, the main technique of Apparition lies in having a clear target, a firm will, and the ability to cast the spell with composure.
For someone with a strong mind, this was not difficult.
Opening the diary on the table, Jerry wrote with a quill:
"I have learned the Apparition spell. Thank you for your guidance these past few days. You are indeed a wise alchemical product!"
"This is a simple spell for me. I know many secrets and magics. As long as you trust me and follow my advice, you will surely become the best student at Hogwarts. Positions like Prefect and Head Boy will be no challenge for you!"
The diary immediately revealed a long response.
Through their conversations over the past few days, Voldemort had discovered that the Slytherin student who found him seemed to be a very ambitious person.
He liked ambitious and needy people because they were the easiest to manipulate.
However, the student named Jerry was young but cautious. Despite their interactions, Jerry's soul remained tightly closed, preventing Voldemort's soul from penetrating it.
Voldemort felt that it would take more time and patience to earn Jerry's trust.
If Jerry did not open his heart and fully trust him, Tom would not be able to possess Jerry's body and achieve rebirth.
Since learning that his original body had been destroyed, Voldemort's ultimate plan was to take over Jerry's young body. When that happened, Tom would be Jerry, and Jerry would be Tom.
"That's great. I'm going to the Burrow for a few days and won't be able to consult you about magic. I'll talk to you when I get back!"
After writing this, Jerry didn't wait for Voldemort's reply and simply closed the diary.
He had discovered that when the diary was closed, Voldemort's soul seemed to have no way of knowing what was happening outside. When the diary was open, Voldemort's soul could use it to glimpse the outside world.
So, unless he needed to consult Voldemort about magic, Jerry usually kept the diary closed and stashed it in an empty spatial equipment.
During the last raid on a Dark Witch, he had acquired several pieces of spatial equipment.
Jerry believed that the reason Voldemort's Horcrux in the diary behaved this way was due to the emphasis on secrecy during its creation.
When the diary was closed, it emitted no magical aura and looked like an ordinary diary.
However, when it was open, Jerry could faintly sense the Dark Arts aura emanating from it, especially when he was close by.
"Hermione and the Grangers should be arriving soon!"
Jerry checked the time; it was already ten o'clock, the agreed meeting time. He casually threw the diary into a Spatial Bag and headed downstairs.
Sure enough, Hermione and the Granger family were already waiting by the fireplace on the first floor.
After greeting Hermione and the Grangers, Jerry began to instruct them on how to use Floo Powder.
He had used Floo Powder before when the English Quidditch team traveled to France for a match, but this was Hermione and the Grangers' first time using it.
Ten minutes later.
"Alright, that covers the basic usage and precautions. The main thing is not to be nervous and to pronounce the destination correctly. The rest is quite simple. I'll give you a demonstration first."
Jerry grabbed a handful of silver Floo Powder from the box on the mantle and threw it into the fireplace. The flames instantly turned green.
Stepping into the green flames, Jerry shouted, "The Burrow!" and disappeared from the fireplace.
"Welcome to the Burrow, Jerry! We've been waiting for you!"
Jerry stepped out of the fireplace to find the Weasley family and Harry gathered there, waiting for them.
After greeting everyone, Jerry smiled and joined them, waiting for Hermione and her family to arrive.
About five seconds later, the fireplace erupted in a burst of green flames, and Hermione appeared out of thin air.
After Hermione, Mrs. Granger emerged, followed by Mr. Granger.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the Grangers stayed in the living room to chat with the Weasley parents, while Ron and Harry excitedly showed Jerry and Hermione around the Burrow.
The Burrow was a house built with magic, crooked and leaning in ways that should have made it collapse according to normal building principles.
It was located in a semi-Witchified village called Ottery St. Catchpole, in Devon, England.
The house had six floors, excluding the attic. The first floor had the kitchen and living room, the second floor was Ginny's room, the third floor housed the Weasley Twins and Percy, the fourth floor was for Bill and Charlie, the fifth floor was the Weasley parents' room, and the sixth floor was Ron's room. The attic was home to a friendly Ghoul.
In front of the Burrow was a chicken yard and a large shed for storage, while behind it was a small garden. A bit further away was a scenic little hill with several fruit trees.
"Ron, I think your place is great. Why do you call it the Burrow?"
After the tour, Jerry felt that Ron's home was practically a mini mansion in the Witch world. Seven floors, a yard, a garden, a shed, a hill, and a fruit orchard—how could this be called the Burrow?
Ron shrugged and explained:
"Actually, it goes back a long way. When Dad and Mum got together, they had some issues with blood purity and ended up having a falling out with Grandpa and some uncles. They were kicked out of the family.
When Dad and Mum first came here, it was just a big stone pigpen. They used magic to turn it into a small house, and it was really basic back then, so they named it the Burrow.
As my older brothers were born, Dad started using magic and alchemy to continuously improve the house, and it eventually became what it is today!"
