Chapter 213: You Act, I Act (Second Update)
Chapter 213: You Act, I Act (Second Update)
On the way from Flourish and Blotts to the Leaky Cauldron, Jerry slowly walked behind Ginny.
"Freezing Charm!"
With a snap of her fingers inside her wide wizard robe, a thin layer of ice suddenly formed on the ground where Ginny was about to step.
The Freezing Charm, like the Fire-summoning Charm, is one of the most basic and simple spells in the Merlinic Magic Book.
Although it has virtually no offensive power, it requires very little magic, making it quick to cast and nearly undetectable.
"Oops!"
Ginny's right foot slipped on the smooth ice, and she fell backward. The cauldron filled with textbooks in her hands was flung away.
"Are you okay?"
Jerry quickly stepped forward, catching Ginny with one hand before she hit the ground. Then, with another snap of his fingers, he melted the ice into water.
"I'm fine, I just slipped a bit!"
Ginny stood up from Jerry's embrace, clearly still shaken by the sudden fall.
At this moment, everyone was drawn to Ginny by her exclamation and rushed over to check on her.
Jerry quietly stepped back and naturally walked to where the cauldron had landed, pretending to help pick up the textbooks.
"Looks like this is the one!"
While everyone's attention was on Ginny, Jerry quietly picked up an old-looking diary from the ground and slipped it into his book bag.
"Ginny, here are your books. Check if anything is missing?"
After gathering the scattered textbooks back into the cauldron, Jerry smiled and handed it to Ginny.
"Nothing's missing, they're all here. Thank you!"
Ginny took the cauldron and shyly thanked Jerry.
With everything settled, the group continued their journey to the Leaky Cauldron, chatting and laughing.
"How about you come over to our place sometime, Jerry? You don't have to go to training anyway!"
Inside the Leaky Cauldron, before using Floo Powder to return, Ron invited Jerry and Hermione to visit.
Before the holiday, Ron had already invited everyone to The Burrow, but Jerry had declined, citing the possibility of training with the English Quidditch Team. Additionally, Harry had been confined at home, so the plans never materialized.
During their conversation, Ron learned that Jerry was now staying at the Leaky Cauldron and that Harry would be spending the last two weeks before school at The Burrow.
So, he extended the invitation again.
"I don't have any issues with that!"
Hermione, who was very interested in the witch's residence, immediately agreed.
Jerry had initially planned to decline but reconsidered and nodded.
"I might be busy over the next few days. Can we push it back a bit?"
Having just obtained Voldemort's diary, he needed some time to communicate with it. However, considering that Ron's father, Arthur, was an expert in Alchemy, he decided not to refuse.
"Would this weekend work? Mr. and Mrs. Granger should be off, so they can come along too."
Arthur interjected with a suggestion from the side.
Arthur was very interested in the Muggle world and had a good conversation with Mr. Granger earlier, hoping to have more time to chat.
"Oh, I'll definitely prepare some good food for you all when you come!"
Mrs. Weasley, a social person, chimed in.
"Of course, we have no problem with that!"
The Granger family exchanged looks and agreed.
As one of the few Muggles who knew about witches and weren't afraid, they were curious about the witches their daughter talked about.
At that moment, everyone turned their attention to Jerry.
Jerry shrugged:
"No problem on the weekend!"
After a round of farewells, the Weasleys and Harry used Floo Powder to return to the Burrow through the Leaky Cauldron's fireplace. Hermione and her parents left the bar and returned to the Muggle world.
In the end, only Jerry remained in the bar.
"Voldemort, let's have a proper chat!"
Jerry picked up his book bag and returned to his room on the second floor. He hung the bag by the bed and took out an old, faded diary from it, placing it on the table. Jerry then picked up a quill and sat down in a chair.
Opening the first page of the diary, he could see some barely legible writing in the bottom right corner:
"t.m. Riddle"
Flipping through the diary, he found that every page was blank, as if it had never been written in.
However, Jerry had expected this.
He dipped the quill in the ink on the table and wrote:
"My name is Jerry Carmen. I am twelve years old and a second-year student at Hogwarts Slytherin. Today, while buying books at Flourish and Blotts in Diagon Alley, I found this notebook. I plan to use it to write my diary..."
As soon as Jerry finished writing, the words on the page flickered and were quickly absorbed, leaving no trace.
"Huh, what's going on?"
Jerry feigned surprise.
Then, a new line of text appeared on the page:
"Hello, Jerry Carmen. My name is Tom Riddle."
"You actually have consciousness. Are you an alchemical item?"
Jerry continued writing.
The words disappeared again, and new text appeared:
"Yes, I am an alchemical item created by a great Witch. I can answer any questions you have about magic!"
"That's impressive, but I don't believe it. Do you know Apparition Magic? I'm very interested in that!"
Jerry wanted to verify it.
The page responded immediately:
"That's too easy for me. I can teach you the spell and the techniques for practicing, but I've been asleep for years. Can you tell me what has happened in the world of magic during that time?"
"Of course, as long as you teach me Apparition Magic!"
Jerry's lips curled into a smile as he began writing about the Second Wizarding War, the defeat of Dark Lord Voldemort, and the famous Harry Potter.
Why did Jerry steal Voldemort's diary?
Because Jerry knew it contained the young soul and memories of Voldemort, which could help him learn magic that he couldn't learn otherwise.
As for whether Voldemort could control him like he did Ginny, Jerry wasn't worried at all.
While Voldemort's Horcrux was powerful, it couldn't control a witch, especially not one as strong as Jerry.
In the original story, Voldemort could control Ginny because she opened her heart to him and completely trusted him, allowing her soul to be infiltrated.
Would Jerry ever open his heart to Voldemort? Of course not!
In the days to come, Voldemort would undoubtedly try to act to gain Jerry's trust, and Jerry would do the same, trying to extract as much magical knowledge as possible from him.
You act with me, I act with you, and we all live happily ever after. How wonderful!
