Chapter 213: Too Much Homework
Chapter 213: Too Much Homework
Standing in the shallow waters, Wang Si couldn't help but stare as Lan Fozi leaped out of the water with ease.
"Are you hurt?" Wang Si asked, curious about the bandages wrapped around Lan Fozi's chest.
Stretching leisurely, Lan Fozi was perplexed by Wang Si's sudden question. "Why do you ask that?"
Wang Si pointed at the bandages. "If you're not hurt, why are you wrapped up like that?"
Lan Fozi paused for a moment, then casually replied, "My martial soul tends to corrode my skin after mutation. It's not a big deal, I'm used to it." To emphasize his point, he proudly patted his chest.
Wang Si nodded in understanding, but a hint of suspicion remained in his eyes. "You've been in the Holy Spirit Sect for quite some time now, and I haven't seen any attractive ladies around. Lan Fozi, if you're a woman, you have to let me know so I can, you know, release some tension." He winked suggestively.
Lan Fozi's face darkened at the comment. "Tsk, what do you mean there aren't any good-looking girls in the Holy Spirit Sect? It's obvious that you're just too picky, complaining about everything. Serves you right if you're all pent up." Lan Fozi was well aware of Wang Si's promiscuous past, and it had already been half a month since he joined the Holy Spirit Sect, so it was no surprise that he was feeling frustrated.
As for asking for Lan Fozi's help to "release some tension"? No way!
Waiting for Wang Si, Lan Fozi indicated that he wanted to return to get something. The deep and shallow water zones were quite different, after all.
...
The sunlight danced on the surface of the sea, casting a golden hue over the shallow waters.
Wang Si had grown accustomed to the scenery here as he stood quietly by the shore, awaiting Lan Fozi's return. He had heard that she had prepared some new equipment for him.
Soon enough, Lan Fozi arrived, carrying a large bag on her back. "Wang Si, are you ready to explore the deep waters?" she asked with a smile.
"Yes, I'm well prepared. But I can't deny I'm a little worried. It's quite different from here," Wang Si admitted sincerely.
"Don't worry, I'll explain everything you need to know," Lan Fozi assured him, patting his shoulder. She opened her bag and took out several pieces of equipment. "These are the new gear you'll need for the deep waters."
First, she pulled out a special diving suit. "This diving suit is specifically designed for deep-water use. It will protect you from the intense water pressure. Unlike the ordinary suits used in the shallow waters, this one is made with more durable fabric and has extra insulation." She explained the suit's features in detail.
Next, she took out a full-face mask. "In the deep waters, you'll need to use this full-face breathing apparatus. It will provide you with a steady supply of oxygen while protecting your eyes from the pressure. Even though you won't have to worry about water going up your nose, it's still best to breathe through your mouth underwater." She demonstrated how to wear the mask as she spoke.
"Additionally, you'll need to wear this deep-water diving computer," she said, holding up a wrist-mounted device. "It will monitor your depth and time underwater, alerting you when it's time to ascend. In case of any emergencies, it can also send out distress signals." She indicated the special communication bracelet on her own wrist, which could transmit signals in this area.
Wang Si examined each piece of equipment carefully, asking questions about the details from time to time. He realized that diving in the deep waters required far more specialized gear than the simple equipment used in the shallow areas.
"Instead of explaining all the potential challenges, why don't you just tell me what I need to pay special attention to?" Wang Si interjected as he took the new equipment from Lan Fozi.
"First of all," Lan Fozi began, "due to the increased water pressure, you must be extra careful to avoid rapid descent or ascent. Abrupt changes in depth can cause serious injury to your body and may even result in decompression sickness. Secondly, the currents in the deep waters are strong and unpredictable, so you must stay focused to avoid being swept away. If you do get separated by a current, remain calm and use your diving computer to find your way back. Of course, I'll be by your side the entire time, and in case of any emergencies, I'll get you out of there. Hopefully, you won't need to use the shallow water computer."
"What if I do encounter a dangerous situation?" Wang Si asked, his voice laced with a hint of worry despite his robust physical condition.
"If any emergency arises, immediately use the diving computer to send a distress signal," Lan Fozi instructed. "Most importantly, stay calm and refrain from making abrupt movements to minimize the risk of aggravating any potential injuries."
Lan Fozi paused, recalling something else. "Also, you need to be aware of the decompression time to avoid ascending too quickly and causing decompression sickness. If you find yourself unable to ascend on your own, don't hesitate to seek help from professionals."
Wang Si made a mental note of all the precautions, realizing that diving in the deep waters was no trivial matter. "OK, I'll keep all that in mind. I'll be cautious with the equipment and follow your instructions."
Wang Si nodded, his determination clear.
"Excellent," Lan Fozi replied. "Then let's get started." He gave Wang Si's shoulder a friendly pat, ensuring that his equipment was securely fastened before playfully pushing him into the water.
As Wang Si ventured into the deep waters, he was awe-struck by the breathtaking sights that unfolded before him. Vibrant schools of fish swam by, their colors shimmering in the light.
Among them, Wang Si spotted a group of peculiar flatfish with eyes on both sides of their bodies, giving them a unique appearance as they glided through the water. He recognized these as the mesmerizing double-eyed fish, known for their distinctive sideways swimming motion.
Another fish that caught Wang Si's attention was a deep-sea species with a disproportionately large head and a small, pointed mouth. Its head took up most of its body, giving it an odd and almost comical appearance. This fish, known as a sea catfish, typically dwelled in the darkness of the deep sea, using its suction cup-like mouth to prey on unsuspecting victims.
Suddenly, a slender and unusually shaped fish swam gracefully past Wang Si. Its body resembled that of a snake, covered in shimmering scales, and a long, thin tendril extended from its tail. Wang Si identified it as the renowned sea snake fish, known for their hiding spots in rocky crevices on the ocean floor and their agile movements through the water.
As he continued to explore, Wang Si also encountered some bizarre deep-sea creatures with peculiar shapes. Some had enormous mouths capable of swallowing sizable prey, while others possessed special organs that emitted an eerie glow in the dark depths of the sea...
