Chapter 212: Meeting (Part Five)
Chapter 212: Meeting (Part Five)
Talismans?
Mo Hua glanced at the three talismans in his hand, each crafted from jade. Two of them were etched with red markings, labeled "Fireburst Talisman," while the third bore golden insignia and was inscribed with the words "Golden Sword Talisman."
"These talismans must be expensive, aren't they?" Mo Hua inquired.
Old Zhao nodded. "Yes, they are quite costly and hard to come by. These talismans should possess the power of a ninth-layer Qi Refining spell, with significant destructive capability. They are regulated by the Daoting authorities, and you won't find them through regular channels."
"Then they are too valuable. I shouldn't accept them," Mo Hua said.
"Take them," urged Old Zhao, not giving Mo Hua a chance to refuse. He patted him on the shoulder. "Go home early. I'll teach these ruffians a lesson first."
"Alright, thank you, Uncle Zhao," Mo Hua replied gratefully.
Without further ado, Mo Hua accepted the talismans and walked home, leaving behind the wails of the Qian Family cultivators, unconcerned about their fate.
After all, they had brought this upon themselves.
Upon returning home, Mo Hua spent some time studying the three talismans. He had a basic understanding of how to use them, but due to his poverty, he had never been able to afford them before.
Talismans were relatively simple to use. One merely had to infuse them with spiritual energy, activating them to unleash their spell automatically.
Typically, a talisman could only be used once, but its power was substantial.
There were also very few restrictions on using talismans. Regardless of one's spiritual root attribute, cultivation technique, or the amount of spiritual energy possessed, as long as one was within the same realm, they could activate a talisman.
Due to their minimal restrictions and immense power, the Daoting authorities regulated talismans with high destructive potential.
Without such regulation, cultivators might abuse talismans, and if they stockpiled them, it could pose a significant threat to the security of the entire cultivation world.
Consequently, it was challenging for ordinary cultivators to acquire high-quality talismans.
Mo Hua wondered where the Qian Family had obtained these talismans and how generously they had spent to acquire them.
'I haven't really done anything except draw a few arrays,' he thought to himself, puzzled. 'Is that enough to incite their hatred? Are they going after me instead of Elder Yu, a Foundation Establishment cultivator, because they're bullying the weak while fearing the strong?'
Qian Shunzi and his cohorts were beaten black and blue and then thrown into the Daoting authorities' custody.
Qian Hong spent some spirit stones to bail them out.
This time, Elder Yu didn't extort them because he wanted to bring the matter to the attention of the Daoting authorities, exposing the Qian Family's devious plans while also making Qian Hong more cautious, deterring him from crossing the authorities' bottom line.
Covert struggles were permissible, but open conflict was not.
On the surface, Tongxian City had to appear as a place where the laws were obeyed.
The "laws" referred to the Daoting's regulations, while the "rules" pertained to the Daoting authorities themselves.
However, Qian Hong remained relentless. He either bribed or hired outside cultivators to make covert attempts on Mo Hua's life again.
But Elder Yu protected Mo Hua vigilantly.
These cultivators would be discovered soon after entering the south side of the city, and any attempts at making a move would result in their swift apprehension.
They would then be dealt a sound thrashing before being tossed into the Daoting authorities' custody, just like before.
The more Qian Hong wanted Mo Hua dead, the more determined Elder Yu became to protect him, even to the extent of ensuring not a hair on Mo Hua's head was harmed.
Frustrated by his futile efforts, Qian Hong had no choice but to abandon his schemes, at least for the time being.
The demon hunters spent their years hunting in the Great Black Mountain, making them more alert and sensitive to murderous intent than ordinary cultivators. Their teamwork was seamless, and when it came to taking action, they were faster and more ruthless.
Moreover, they were on their home turf. A demon hunter who stayed vigilant could detect even an intruding fly, let alone a living, ninth-layer Qi Refining cultivator.
"What if we get a Core Formation cultivator to make a move?" Qian Hong suggested, his brow furrowed.
To violate the Dao laws and murder a cultivator...
This crime could be big or small. If everyone chose to let it go, then it would be as if nothing had happened. But if someone pursued it, then the consequences could be dire. If the Dao laws were strictly enforced, there was even a possibility of a death sentence...
Qian Hong sighed.
For now, it was better to hire Qi Refining cultivators to do the job.
That way, they could achieve their goal with one stroke, and even if they failed, they would only lose some spirit stones.
If all else failed, then they would have no choice but to get a Foundation Establishment cultivator involved.
After all, in the long run, the threat posed by a genius array master could not be underestimated.
Mo Hua was the one who had dealt with the little array master, and now that the Qian Family knew, Master Luo naturally also found out.
Previously, he had only suspected, but now that he had confirmation, his feelings were even more complicated.
How could it be such a coincidence?
Soon after, he fell into doubt. Could a ten-year-old first-rate array master truly possess such extraordinary talent?
Master Luo wanted to see for himself.
He sought out Elder Feng.
Elder Feng had been refining pills and saving people in Tongxian City for over a hundred years. He had interacted with countless cultivators, from wandering cultivators to family members, regardless of wealth or status. Master Luo, of course, was no exception.
Many years ago, when Master Luo's grandson was gravely ill, it was Elder Feng who had healed him.
And the array in Elder Feng's pill refining furnace was also drawn by Master Luo himself to repay the debt of gratitude.
However, although that array was exquisite, it was not of the first-rate level.
Elder Feng was discussing pill formulas with other pill masters in the pill refining shop when he heard that Master Luo had come to visit.
Elder Feng pondered for a moment, then asked someone to invite Master Luo to the guest hall for tea.
The guest hall of the pill refining shop was specifically for receiving guests. From the front door to the guest hall, there were high walls blocking the view, so one couldn't see the inside of the pill refining shop.
There were some arrays painted on the walls, which could blur the perception of divine sense. Although they couldn't completely block it, unless one's divine sense was extremely strong, they wouldn't be able to perceive anything critical.
Master Luo walked along, observing the arrays, and sighed inwardly:
"This is indeed the work of a first-rate array master."
Upon entering the guest hall, the two greeted each other and exchanged pleasantries. After a while, Elder Feng asked:
"What brings Master Luo here today?"
Master Luo hesitated for a long time before saying, "I want to meet that 'little array master.'"
"Mo Hua?"
Master Luo nodded, "Yes, that's his name."
Elder Feng frowned, "Just to meet him?"
"I'm not hiding anything from you, Elder Feng. I have studied arrays for many years, and I have never seen such a talented array master. I am both astonished and curious, so I would like to meet him." Master Luo explained.
"Has this nothing to do with the Qian Family?"
"It has nothing to do with the Qian Family!"
Elder Feng fell silent.
Master Luo earnestly said, "I hope Elder Feng can introduce us."
Elder Feng hesitated for a moment, then said, "Alright, Mo Hua will be coming to the pill refining shop later. You can meet him then. Please wait a moment, Master Luo."
Master Luo was overjoyed and expressed his gratitude.
The two of them sat in the guest hall, drinking tea and chatting about casual topics and past events.
After two cups of tea, Master Luo began to feel a bit anxious. Just then, he heard light footsteps approaching. He looked up and saw a cute child with an ordinary appearance walk through the door.
His fair face was lively, with bright and sparkling eyes.
Master Luo's eyes widened slightly, and he was secretly astonished.
There was a faint light above his spiritual palace, indicating a rich ocean of knowledge and an extraordinary divine sense.
Master Luo was now seventy to eighty percent certain.
