Chapter 212: A Visitor from Galar
Chapter 212: A Visitor from Galar
Night.
Hoenn, Kanaz City.
"Every time I go out, I feel so exhausted."
Looking at the nearby cafe, which was still lit, Jing He felt a sense of relief.
"Tomorrow, I can sleep in again." Jing He sighed.
Gengar, however, had a completely different expression, one of seriousness.
"Gengar!"
Tomorrow, they could finally train properly! Gengar remembered that there were still two of the toughest Gyms in Kanto waiting for them. They couldn't afford to let Jing He down.
Ding-dong—
Pushing open the cafe door, the wind chime hanging above it jingled melodiously.
"Welcome!"
Three familiar voices chimed in unison, and a Meowth in a waiter's uniform immediately approached.
"Teacher Jing He?!"
Seeing it was Jing He, they were first surprised, then overjoyed.
"These are gifts for you."
Jing He smiled and handed out the items he had prepared for them: a shovel for Koga, an apron for Butch, a CD for Meowth, and a straw hat for Woobat.
"Gifts?!"
The trio immediately shed tears of gratitude, hugging each other and crying.
"Commander Jing He, you're handling the Hoenn branch all by yourself and even going on difficult missions, yet you still brought us gifts. It's really..."
"So touching!" ×3
To be honest, they had been through a lot. Even Koga, who came from a wealthy background, had faced numerous setbacks after leaving home, often going hungry.
However, this was the first time they had ever received a gift, no matter how small or ordinary.
For them, it held deep significance.
"Sniff, Sniff!" Woobat saluted, tears welling in its eyes.
Can't you guys whisper a bit more quietly next time?
While Jing He internally facepalmed, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of the trio and Woobat.
No matter what, the trio was a genuine and emotional group. In the original series, they often clashed with Ash, trying to steal Pikachu, but when they saw something they couldn't stand, they would help, even teaming up with Ash and Pikachu.
"By the way,"
Jing He tapped the table and scanned them, then said slowly,
"There's something I want to discuss with you."
"Teacher Jing He, just tell us what you need, and we'll do our best!" Koga wiped his eyes, looking serious.
"Right, whatever Pokemon you want to catch, we—gah!"
Meowth and Koga once again covered Butch's mouth.
"Teacher Jing He, what do you need, Meowth~" Meowth forced a smile.
Jing He rubbed his forehead.
"Build me a Gundam."
Koga: "Huh?"
Butch: "What's a Gundam?"
Meowth: "I'll get it done, Meowth!"
"Sniff, Sniff! (∠°ゝ°)"
Jing He tapped his head, "You guys are leading me astray."
"Actually, I want you to—"
Jing He then briefly explained his plan to shoot a TV show.
"I'm going to be an actor?!" Butch was the first to jump up.
She was probably the most eager to act among the trio; her dream had always been to become a star.
Butch Lina, making a comeback!
"And you'll be the lead actress," Jing He said without a hint of hesitation.
After much consideration, Jing He decided that Meowth was better suited to play the cat role than Meowth Boss. Though Meowth was a bit small, it was probably the only one that could handle the role of Pichu.
Of course, Meowth's emotional history was also a significant factor.
So, he decided to rename the show "Meowth and Pichu."
As for Koga, he could take on the role of director. They probably wouldn't need much rehearsal; they could just play themselves.
"It means the trio will be closely tied to the yellow mouse," Jing He thought, then said aloud,
"Don't rush. You can take your time to consider it. The overall schedule still needs time, and the cafe can't do without you for now."
But he could tell that, compared to running the cafe, the trio seemed more interested in acting.
Friday, Clear Weather.
Jing He's journey in Kanto had come to a temporary end, and he was back to his peaceful, laid-back life.
In the yard,
Jing He was stroking the soft fur of his Froslass with one hand, basking in the sun, and playing with the Pokedex Professor Oak had given him.
[Pokedex: A Pokedex personally crafted by Professor Oak, containing more comprehensive information about Pokemon, including functions like a phone, game console, and navigator (trust me, you don't need it)]
A Pokedex of a Pokedex?
Looking at the information that appeared, Jing He's expression was odd.
He hadn't expected that the "Pokedex" feature, which usually only worked for Pokemon, would reveal information when it encountered Professor Oak's Pokedex.
Was this some kind of professional rivalry?
After playing with it for a bit and finding no particularly special functions, Jing He put it away.
"Before I get a Rotom, this Pokedex will have to do."
"Ooh~"
The Froslass lay on his lap, eyes closed, and its small limbs moving back and forth.
Jing He immediately smiled like a proud father.
Then, he picked up the Froslass, buried his head in its soft belly, and took a deep breath.
"Ow! Ow!"
The little guy kicked his feet back and forth.
It was a strange sensation.
The young Vulpix weighed 10 kilograms, yet he felt no weight at all when he picked it up.
‘Am I evolving into a super rookie as well?’
But he couldn't dwell on that now, as he noticed that the Gengar and Dratini in the courtyard were about to unleash their big moves. The crackling lightning indicated they were preparing to practice "Thunder."
So he quickly got up and called them off.
"Thunder" wasn't something to be taken lightly; one wrong move and they could end up destroying the house.
The training room at the academy was a much safer place for that.
Besides, if it got destroyed, it would be the school's problem.
Gathering the little ones, he headed to the academy.
At the Kanaz Pokemon Academy, in the Weather Room.
The Weather Room was a training facility that could freely change the weather, adjusting to rain, sunshine, or snow, making it perfect for Pokemon to practice weather-dependent moves.
Once they reached the training room, Jing He set the weather to rain.
Two Wingulls appeared in the sky above the training room, and a heavy downpour quickly covered most of the area.
Jing He stood under the rain shelter, holding the Ice Vulpix, while Gengar and Dratini stood in the pouring rain.
Zzzt—
Golden arcs of electricity danced on Dratini's horns.
Gengar grinned wickedly, slowly raising his hand, a bright arc of light flickering in his palm.
Unlike Dratini, the arcs of electricity on Gengar's hand were a deep blue.
Seeing this, Jing He's expression changed slightly.
It's you, Sasuke!
You even managed to learn the prototype of Thousand Birds!
"Get ready," Jing He called out, pressing the switch on the wall.
Moving targets immediately appeared on the training field.
"Thunder!"
Boom! Boom!
Two blackened spots appeared on the wall.
The entire Weather Room trembled slightly.
Perfect!
Both missed!
Just as expected from my Pokemon, Jing He thought.
Dratini's performance was typical unless it was in battle.
But it didn't matter.
One failure was nothing; practicing "Thunder" a few more times was normal.
Time passed unnoticed.
"Thunder!"
"Roar—!!"
Dratini's eyes were intensely focused. Raising its head, the small dragon horns glowed with a golden light, once again drawing the charged lightning from the dark clouds above.
Boom!!
A fierce bolt of lightning struck again.
This was what "Thunder" should look like. As for the results—
The results didn't matter.
Jing He ignored the wall, now blackened and flower-like from the blast.
After at least an afternoon, Dratini finally managed to shape "Thunder."
"Beep~"
The two Wingulls in the training room let out a mournful cry, rolled their eyes, and fell to the ground.
"Uh..."
Jing He rubbed his chin.
While it was rare for the training room to be damaged, he had never seen the Wingulls, responsible for the weather, faint like this.
"They should... be fine, right?"
"Gen-gar?"
Gengar, still holding the blue lightning, blinked.
The rain had stopped, so what should he do with this?
Gengar's eyes darted around, and he let out a mischievous laugh. Seeing that the targets were still intact, he dashed forward, lightning in hand.
Boom!!
The targets shattered.
"Gen-gar!!"
Gengar let out an excited roar.
Jing He wrinkled his nose.
Using "Thunder" as a close-range attack, you're the first one I've seen do that.
While Jing He was focused on training his Pokemon, the area outside the training room was far from peaceful.
The commotion inevitably drew the attention of many.
Especially when the originally sturdy walls of the training room began to bulge, as if they might break at any moment.
The noise was simply too loud.
It even caught the attention of the school's staff, like the Dean of Student Affairs, Min Jiang.
When he learned that the teacher training in the room was Jing He, he immediately ordered everyone to stay away from the training room.
So when Jing He emerged from the training room, he found Min Jiang waiting for him at the door.
"Uh, Dean Min, the training room—"
Jing He felt like he had been caught doing something he shouldn't.
"Teacher Jing He, forget about the training room for now. The principal wants to see you," Min Jiang waved his hand dismissively.
It's just a training room.
This reassured Jing He a bit.
The Kanaz Pokemon Academy was indeed wealthy; he could train without restraint in the future.
"Principal?"
His attention quickly returned to Min Jiang's words.
They walked toward the principal's office.
"I heard a trainer from the Galar region arrived, and they're a friend of the principal. They hope to study at our academy."
"Wait."
Jing He stopped in his tracks.
"Galar region?"
"Is there a problem?"
Jing He asked cautiously, "What's their name?"
After a moment of thought, Min Jiang remembered, "I think it's... Cai Dou?"
Thank goodness.
Thank goodness it's not "Ad Man."
