Chapter 211: The Secret of the Water Bottle (Part 1)
Chapter 211: The Secret of the Water Bottle (Part 1)
"I think I understand why you touched my hand..."
After Jerry's senior tried to pull three times, and his right hand was also pulled three times by an unknown force, he recalled the precognitive dream of "Young Joseph" and suddenly realized, "Just as the Nightmare King made the two Josephs have the same nightmare, in the judgment of the Thievery Mastermind, these two Josephs should be people with two different fate trajectories. So, there appeared two 'items' that had the greatest impact on them."
"If I'm not wrong, the shadow on the left should be the thing that had the greatest influence on Middle-aged Joseph, and as for my right hand, it's probably the thing that had the deepest impact on Young Joseph's fate, so it also appeared in the options."
"..."
This explanation seemed to make some sense. After hearing Lyon's speculation, Jerry nodded in agreement, then asked with a puzzled look, "Lyon, what's the deal with your hand? Why would it have such a huge impact on Prince Joseph's fate?"
"Well... it's not a big deal. I just slapped him twice..."
Lyon briefly recounted the intense fight during the Ennoblement Ceremony and the beating he gave to the real brother-in-law when he and Senior Emma went to investigate. Seeing the short man's ghostly expression, Lyon explained with confidence, "I didn't use any anomalies; I just used my hand to slap him. The agreement between the Central Agency and the royal families only states that we can't use anomalies to influence or harm royal members; it doesn't say anything about not being allowed to slap them, right?"
"..."
The agreement didn't specifically mention that, but that's because for a normal person, the probability of killing a prince in an attack is higher than the probability of slapping his face, right?
You're something else... I thought that stealing from the royal family was already outrageous enough, but I never expected there to be a master like you. No wonder you were able to join the Virgin Division. You're not an ordinary lamp, my friend!
Speechless, Jerry gave Lyon a thumbs-up. The short man then changed the target of the Thievery Mastermind and reached for the vaguely trembling, unidentified object on the left.
Although they couldn't determine which was the Portal Beyond earlier, now that they knew the right side was Lyon's hand, the real Portal Beyond must be the one on the left. All they had to do was steal it... Huh?
The anomaly reappeared.
With a soft crackling sound, the left-side entity, whose form was unclear, suddenly burst apart the moment Jerry grabbed it. Then, like a beast that had smelled fresh flesh or a ghost that had found a thread to escape hell, it frantically climbed up Jerry's right arm!
?!?!?
Seeing this bizarre scene, they immediately realized something was terribly wrong. Jerry didn't immediately pull back his right hand; instead, he extended his left hand towards the office window and let out an urgent dog bark.
"Woof!"
With a crisp response, a golden retriever's head flashed past the window glass, and a short unsharpened dagger appeared in Jerry's left hand.
Holding the dagger with strange patterns, Jerry quickly withdrew his captured right hand while using the blade to swiftly shave off a small piece of skin from the back of his hand. At the same time, Lyon untied the red hair tied around his neck and threw it towards Joseph's chest.
"Mabu!"
Accompanied by a strange howl that was half anger and half despair, the arm that Jerry had captured transformed into the small piece of skin he had just shaved off.
As Lyon withdrew his hand, the small part that had been pulled out of Joseph's chest was instantly sliced into countless pieces of flesh, emitting black fumes, by Lyon's slightly bloody red hair, leaving a large smear on the carpet.
Where's the promised portal to the other side? What the hell is this thing?!
"Don't move!"
Just as Lyon and his companion were startled by the unknown entity speaking in an unfamiliar language, it suddenly began to speak in a human tongue, seemingly recognizing their race.
"Take me out! Get me out of here!"
Following the ripples of the Thievery Mastermind, they chased it all the way to Joseph's chest. The entity frantically pounded on the inside, causing ripples of water on Joseph's chest, while screaming hysterically:
"Wealth! Power! Youth! Even eternal life! I'll give you anything if you get me out of here!"
"Screw off!"
Jerry, who had cut off a large piece of his own flesh with a dull knife to escape the mysterious entity, couldn't help but curse in pain, preparing to stop the Thievery Mastermind and let this obviously dangerous entity get as far away as possible.
But just as he was about to stop, Lyon reached out and stopped him.
'Wait, let me ask it a few questions!'
Lyon communicated through soul transmission, stopping Jerry. He then took out a bandage and wrapped it around Jerry's hand, helping him recover from his injury. He stared intently at the now clearer ethereal image and asked rapidly:
"What are you exactly? And what's your connection to the Water Bottle Director of the Purification Bureau?"
"Water Bottle!!!"
Upon hearing the term "Water Bottle Director," the strange entity suddenly became agitated and shouted:
"It's him who imprisoned me!
He grinds my bones! He cuts my flesh! He squeezes my blood! Damn Water Bottle! If I get out of here, I'll make him personally experience the torment I've endured for over two thousand years!"
Two thousand years?
Lyon and his companion exchanged shocked glances at a loss for words after hearing the entity's scream. Lyon continued:
"Do you mean... the current Water Bottle Director has been alive for over two thousand years?"
"Alive for two thousand years? How dare he?"
After cursing the Water Bottle Director for a while, the entity seemed to regain some sanity, realizing that these two humans before him couldn't possibly help it escape. It was likely that they were just seeking information. The entity sneered:
"You lowly short-lived scoundrels, even with the strongest power, cannot transcend the bounds of your flesh. Without replacing your bodies, a hundred and fifty years is the limit for humans!
The Water Bottle who imprisoned me is not the current incompetent one; it's the Water Bottle Director from fifteen generations ago! These damn bastards treated me as their lineage's property and have been passing it down for fifteen generations!"
Recalling the endless torment it had endured for two thousand years, the entity, whose true nature was unknown, began cursing hysterically again. Its words, a mix of human language and ancient tongues, accompanied by a strange, glass-scraping sound, pierced Lyon's ears.
After venting its anger, the entity, seeing that the two humans outside were in pain but hadn't left, nodded in satisfaction. It then sneered:
"Enough chitchat. I can tell that no matter what I promise, you two scoundrels won't take me out.
But it's clear you're not on the Water Bottle's side. You probably sought me out to find his weakness... So hurry up! Ask your questions before the Water Bottle discovers our contact!"
