Chapter 211: Sherlock's Sister
Chapter 211: Sherlock's Sister
Harry was currently at the Weasley family home, listening to Percy boast about the important figures he had met since joining the Ministry of Magic.
"You can't possibly understand Mr. Crouch's demeanor unless you've seen it with your own eyes. Before becoming the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, he was the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. That's the most important position in the Ministry of Magic. If it weren't for some unfortunate incidents in the Crouch family, he would be the Minister of Magic right now. Of course, I'm not saying that Minister Fudge is doing a bad job; he's still excellent and one of the few good Ministers the Ministry of Magic has had."
Percy was eloquently praising his superior, Barty Crouch Sr., while also currying favor with the current Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge.
George rolled his eyes and said,
"Cut it out, Percy. We're at home, and those esteemed Department Heads and the Minister can't hear your flattery."
Fred chimed in with a grin,
"Or if you really want to boast about someone, why not try praising Dad? He's at least the Head of an office."
"Oh, come on, Fred. A mere office Head, even if he is our father, isn't worthy of the great Percy's praise."
"Ah, yes, if Percy really did that, Dad would be so flattered he wouldn't sleep for three days. After all, Percy is the new Ministry of Magic employee, isn't he?"
Percy had no comeback for the twins' sarcastic remarks. His face turned red, and he huffed, turning to leave the living room.
He had graduated from Hogwarts this year with exceptionally high scores on his Wizarding Level Exams, particularly in Defense Against the Dark Arts, where he earned an O grade.
While an O is rare, it's not unheard of, especially this year, when over eighty percent of students who took Defense Against the Dark Arts passed. This shocked the Ministry officials responsible for the Wizarding Level Exams.
However, Percy's O was simply the highest grade available. The examiners who conducted his practical test knew all too well that this top grade didn't necessarily reflect his true abilities. They repeatedly emphasized to the Head of the Auror Office that if Percy planned to work at the Ministry of Magic, they should try to recruit him for the Auror Office.
Percy did indeed join the Ministry of Magic, but he had no interest in the grueling and low-rewarding work at the Auror Office. Instead, he opted for the Department of International Magical Cooperation, where he could more easily achieve political success during peacetime.
The Auror Office was naturally disappointed, and Percy, who was highly sought after during his Ministry of Magic interview, was now even more conceited.
Unable to resist boasting at home, the Weasley Twins naturally didn't tolerate his behavior.
Harry didn't particularly dislike Percy's personality, but he didn't like it much either.
After seeing Percy leave in a huff, Harry and Ron burst into laughter.
On another sofa sat two girls, Hermione and Ginny.
Hermione had joined them at the Burrow at the end of the summer. Mr. Weasley had managed to secure several tickets to the Quidditch World Cup final through his connections at the Ministry of Magic and had invited her and Harry to watch the match.
"But Percy did get a lot of certificates at the Ultimate Wizarding Level Exams", Hermione said, her eyes shining with admiration.
Ron pursed his lips.
"Don’t worry, Professor Forrest isn’t leaving Hogwarts. By the time you’re in fifth year, you’ll be waving around a dozen certificates to show off to us too."
George and Fred clearly felt uneasy about the topic, constantly glancing toward the kitchen. However, Hermione and Ron’s conversation still caught Mrs. Weasley’s attention.
"You think someone with a dozen certificates isn’t worth boasting about, Ron?" Mrs. Weasley said, though her gaze was fixed fiercely on the twins. "Like your two older brothers, what else do they have to show for themselves besides that Dark Magic Defense certificate? And even that, they have Sherlock to thank for not giving up on you two troublemakers who spend all day tinkering with those embarrassing gadgets!"
George and Fred obediently listened to their mother’s scolding, but they exchanged glances and stuck out their tongues at each other.
Mrs. Weasley’s anger flared quickly but dissipated just as fast. After a few more words, she returned to the kitchen, refocusing on tonight’s dinner.
The twins didn’t dare linger in the living room, fearing their mother might remember and scold them again. They slipped back to their bedroom, no doubt to continue their mischief.
Ginny also went to the kitchen to help her mother, leaving only Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the living room.
"I wonder if Professor Forrest will go to the Quidditch match", Hermione mused.
After two consecutive years of Hogwarts students achieving exceptional scores in Dark Magic Defense, she was now hoping Sherlock could teach all subjects and share his exam-taking strategies with her.
Ron responded confidently.
"He will! I heard Dad say that he planned to send Professor Forrest a ticket, but one of his old friends from the Ministry of Magic had already given him one, so he didn’t need to."
Mentioning Sherlock, Harry’s eyes suddenly lit up.
He remembered something he had forgotten to tell Ron and Hermione.
"I visited Professor Forrest’s home a week ago and ran into a... sister there."
He struggled with the term for a moment but settled on "sister."
Hermione wasn’t convinced.
"Maybe someone was just visiting and you happened to run into them. Don’t spread rumors."
Harry shook his head adamantly.
"No! It’s definitely not that! When I went to see Professor Forrest in the morning, he was having breakfast with a girl named Silke. Clearly, she had spent the night at his place!"
Ron and Hermione exchanged a glance, and their curiosity was immediately piqued.
Harry leaned in and lowered his voice.
"And you’ve met this Silke before!"
