Chapter 211: Ever Seen the Navy Capture a Pirate?
Chapter 211: Ever Seen the Navy Capture a Pirate?
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Weapons mercilessly bombarded the narrow alley. With Kuro’s precision, every strike landed within the alley’s confines, never straying a single inch beyond its walls.
Each weapon’s destructive power was limited individually, but the sheer volume and descent angle amplified their impact, surpassing even bullets in sheer force.
A dense rain of weapons crashed down, trapping the two figures inside the alley like rats in a cage. Helpless to evade, they were buried beneath a storm of steel.
Blades slammed into the ground, shattering the hard surface and leaving craters. The once-pristine stone slabs lay in ruins, riddled with gaping holes of all sizes. Axes and spears jutted from the earth, and amidst this chaotic array of weaponry lay two battered figures.
“Hkh!” Absolon spat a mouthful of blood, his limbs impaled by multiple blades that pinned him to the ground like a spread-eagled sacrifice. His entire body bristled with wounds as crimson pooled beneath him, spreading like ink.
Not that he couldn’t dodge—he simply couldn’t. His unarmed combat techniques were formidable, but the moment those weapons descended, he’d deployed Armament Haki to shield himself. However, his reserves only sufficed to protect his arms. The weapon barrage was relentless—within mere rounds, his Haki reserves were exhausted. The blades pierced his arms, then his limbs, culminating in his current predicament. Had he not desperately evaded earlier, he’d be a human pincushion by now.
“You…” Absolon’s eyes widened with fear. “Shanks!”
When Shanks earned his name, Absolon was still a child. Though they belonged to the same era, Absolon had seen the crimson-haired pirate in his youth—and witnessed his abilities firsthand.
This power of manipulating floating objects? Unmistakably Shanks’ signature ability!
Nearby, Sipatia weakly lifted her head, staring at the long spear skewering her abdomen. She dragged her hand through the blood on her stomach, her lips curling into a trance-like smile.
“Ahhh…my blood looks so pretty too,” she murmured, her voice trembling with delight. “So vivid… It’s making me want to carve myself.”
“You’ve got decent unarmed techniques, woman,” Kuro said, flicking his wrist. The stray weapons that missed their mark rose again, hovering around him like a metallic halo.
This Sipatia’s skill surpassed Absolon’s by a wide margin. Her agility, in particular, rivaled a cat’s—dodging and weaving through the weapon barrage with uncanny grace. Though she still ended up wounded, she fared far better than Absolon.
“One’s enough.” Kuro’s gaze swept across the two figures. With a palm thrust, the hovering weapons surged downward for the finishing strike.
“Hey there,” Sipatia suddenly called out, her voice lilting with amusement. “You can’t kill me, you know. Don’t let this state fool you—I can teleport! Whenever you attack, I’ll just vanish to safety.”
“You expect the Navy to fall for that nonsense?” Kuro scoffed, exhaling cigar smoke as the weapons descended.
Sipatia’s grin widened into something feral. She extended both hands, framing Kuro with her thumbs and index fingers as if sighting through a window.
“The opposite of the opposite—this is the truth!”
As the blades nearly kissed her face, her body vanished in an instant.
Kuro’s eyes widened. He clenched his fist, halting the weapons mid-fall. Staring at the blood-stained spear where Sipatia had stood, he muttered, “An illusion?”
His Observation Haki extended, but he detected no aura—not in this alley, not in the entire town. She’d truly vanished.
“Did she really teleport? No—she would’ve escaped earlier if so. What’s going on?”
“Hahahah! She’s gone, eh? You’ll never stop tonight’s slaughter!” Absolon barked a laugh, coughing blood.
“Shut up, old man,” Kuro snapped. With another palm strike, a massive water lion’s head plummeted from the sky, engulfing Absolon. The aquatic beast swallowed him whole, dragging him into the sea water.
Once submerged, Absolon’s powers became useless.
“Gurk—!” Sputtering seawater, Absolon thrashed wildly. His impaled limbs, however, refused to obey. His struggles only tore his wounds wider, bleeding freely into the water until the sea itself turned crimson.
“Kuro!” Lida’s voice rang out from a distance as she led a group of Navy soldiers forward. “What are you doing?”
She’d witnessed the weapon storm from afar and rushed over, fearing an emergency. After all, Kuro rarely used his abilities—Lida knew he’d only do so when facing an opponent beyond his sword’s reach.
“Perfect timing. Bring a pair of Seastone Handcuffs from the ship—we’ve captured a Devil Fruit user pirate.”
“I’ll go.” Klah vanished in a blur, his speed outpacing the others. As a Devil Fruit user herself, Lida couldn’t touch seastone.
Klah returned swiftly, the seastone cuffs clanking in his grip. Kuro shattered the wall blocking the alley’s exit and descended slowly.
“Cuff him.” Kuro made no move to remove the sea water prison. Until absolute safety was ensured, he’d keep this illusion-wielding threat drenched. His hand never left his sword hilt—any twitch, and he’d strike.
Klah plunged his arm into the water, securing one wrist in cuffs before removing the piercing weapon. He repeated the process on the other hand, binding both wrists.
Slosh! The water prison dissipated, spilling onto the ground and washing away bloodstains.
“Khkhhk!” Absolon coughed violently, spewing seawater as he gulped precious air.
Drowning him wouldn’t be quick, but the sea water’s effects were punishment enough.
“Commander, what—” a Lieutenant began, his expression twisted in confusion. Wasn’t this supposed to be a diplomatic arrest? Since when did it escalate to battle?
Kuro raised his palm, recalling the weapons into the sky. His voice darkened. “Take him away. This town—and this entire kingdom—it’s not as simple as it seemed.”
The Madness of the night, the cryptic instructions—it reeked of deeper schemes. He’d originally intended to keep Sipatia alive, but that woman… Her eerie presence left no choice but to settle for Absolon.
The alley’s exit opened, revealing curious townspeople peering through the gap.
“What are you gawking at?” Lida snapped, teeth bared in frustration. “Never seen the Navy arrest a pirate before? Move aside!”
