"Brother Qi!"
"Congratulations, Lin Qi..."
In the elevator, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and even martial arts instructors greeted him enthusiastically.
Stepping out of the elevator at the top floor, Lin Qi found Lu Wei leaning against the wall with a teasing smile.
"You've become the academy's biggest celebrity", Lu Wei remarked.
Lin Qi grimaced. "I'd rather not be."
After parting ways with Lu Wei, Lin Qi entered the vice dean's office. The moment he arrived, the heavy doors slid open automatically, revealing an office resembling an aquatic wonderland.
Dean Liu sat upright on the sofa, exuding calm authority. Every time Lin Qi saw him, he felt that scholarly aura—as if the man belonged more in an ivory tower than a martial arts academy.
"Lin Qi, you're here. Sit down."
Dean Liu gestured to a sapphire-blue sofa across from him. After handing Lin Qi a cup of steaming tea, he leaned forward. "I've prepared something special for you."
Lin Qi accepted the tea with both hands, sipping its fragrant brew. "What brings me here, Dean?"
The older man pushed a sleek obsidian steel case across the table. With a soft click, the case popped open to reveal a gleaming vial of golden liquid.
"This is the Muscle Changing Elixir", Dean Liu announced.
Lin Qi studied the amber-colored elixir, sensing its potent energy. "For second-stage martial artists, right?"
"Exactly", Dean Liu confirmed. "Most cultivators hit a plateau at peak stage—no matter their innate talent. This elixir accelerates bodily refinement, helping you break through. Two million Xia Kingdom currency per vial, and it's yours."
Lin Qi's eyes widened. This came at the perfect time—he'd been struggling with his second-stage bottleneck. "You're giving this to me?"
"Consider it a personal reward", Dean Liu said warmly. "Many at Azure Firmament Six Colleges appreciate your contributions."
Accepting the gift, Lin Qi asked, "You mentioned another matter?"
The dean nodded. "The elixir shortens bottlenecks, but won't break them alone. With proper cultivation, you could reach third stage within a week."
Lin Qi leaned forward. "Tell me more."
Dean Liu's arm tensed, his aura darkening. "Our bodies must endure primordial energy's ferocity. Cultivation has three stages: entry, mastery, and perfection. Most never achieve perfection, even reaching the fourth stage."
"Why?" Lin Qi asked.
"Because we train through divine images, mere shadows of true disaster beasts", Dean Liu explained. "Without seeing real seventh- or eighth-stage beasts—touching their flesh, bones—you can't perfect cultivation. Achieve perfection, and your vital energy refinement will double."
Lin Qi's pulse quickened. Double?
"Then how do I achieve perfection?"
Dean Liu activated a hologram—a massive crimson bird. "The world's strongest cultivator, Red Emperor, perfected his Vermilion Bird technique by studying an eighth-stage Ember Finch corpse. Azure Firmament has such a specimen."
"A real eighth-stage beast?" Lin Qi exclaimed.
"Rarer than kings", Dean Liu confirmed. "Preserving it costs millions annually. I've arranged three days for you to study it—5 million Xia Kingdom currency."
"That's... reasonable", Lin Qi admitted, surprised it wasn't ten times higher.
"Let's go now", the dean rose.
Lin Qi followed to his electric car. As Xiaochan navigated, they ate lunch en route to Ten Institute—an elite research complex surrounded by ten-meter steel walls.
"Only special ability geniuses study here", Dean Liu explained. "Security's tighter than a fortress."
After passing robot sentries, they joined crowds heading to the Disaster Beast Museum. Familiar figures appeared among the crowd—other top students.
