Chapter 210: Lanpu's Report
Kai Xiusu said, “Show me what intelligence you’ve gathered.”
“Yes, Master.”
Lanpu withdrew a stack of meticulously prepared documents from his chest.
“From what we’ve learned, this so-called Tower of Eternal Night is heavily fortified, brimming with Dragonized monsters—humans, goblins, centaurs. But one creature stands out. The Stellarfallen call it ‘Valina.’ It possesses the ability to create illusions, breaths frost like a White Dragon, and appears to be stitched together from the limbs of multiple creatures.”
His voice faltered slightly before continuing.
“At the very top of the Tall Tower, there is something even more significant… a White Dragon, bearing a rare and unique Bloodline.”
Lanpu cautiously lifted his head, glancing at the Red Dragon’s expression. Seeing no change in his demeanor, he finally exhaled in relief and carried on.
Kai Xiusu already knew this. The Forum was open to Player threads—its contents were no secret to him. He had already gained a basic understanding of the situation.
“Furthermore,” Lanpu continued, “according to the Stellarfallen’s intelligence, this so-called ‘Dragon-Frenzied Black Wizard’ is a master of necromancy and arcane spells. His spell catalog includes: Seventh Circle Spell Death Finger, Sixth Circle Spells Dissolution Spell, Soul-Stealing Gaze, Mark of Fear, Fifth-Level Spells such as Dominate Human and Death Cloud Spell—all extremely dangerous. Naturally, it also includes the well-known Eighth-Level Spell Wagner’s Dragon Binding Array. However, there is no evidence yet that he can cast a Nine-Ring Spell.”
Lanpu’s expression grew increasingly serious. He flipped to the next page.
“Based on your established strength criteria, the Kingdom of Ashen Military Intelligence Division rates him at approximately 15th level—A Kingdom-tier powerhouse, an Authentic High-Level Archmage.”
Finally, he respectfully handed the dossier to Kai Xiusu.
“That’s all the intelligence we currently possess. Now, Wagner has already set up a Constant Death Cloud Spell at the entrance of the Tower of Eternal Night, along with protective enchantments akin to Arcane Lock, sealing off all passage into the tower. Nothing mundane can pass through. And now that he likely suspects the Kingdom’s involvement, he’s become far more vigilant. The Stellarfallen can no longer extract meaningful intelligence from him.”
“Good work. I’m satisfied.”
Kai Xiusu’s tone remained calm.
The Red Dragon stared down at Lanpu, his voice suddenly twisting with a feral edge.
“Lanpu… would you like another High-Level Mage’s head?”
The Dragonblood Ogre Mage’s eyes lit up instantly. Normally, his demeanor was composed—cool, calculating, always in control, shaped by his status as a Mage and his role as the Kingdom’s chief minister. But now, the bloodlust of the Red Dragon surged through his lineage, like wildfire roaring through dry grass.
A Kingdom-tier High-Level Mage—such a prize could command respect even among southern powers!
“Master, I would be honored beyond words,” Lanpu replied, dropping to one knee, voice trembling with fervor. “I am already desperate—ready to tear that madman who dared insult the Great Dragon apart with my bare hands!”
The Red Dragon slowly rose, stretching his massive wings, shaking out his frame.
“Then prepare. Wagner’s spell catalog is right here. As a Mage, you know what you must do.”
“Yes, Master.”
Moments later, a bulky human figure stepped into the hall—tall, broad-shouldered, nearly two meters in height. He carried a massive staff, his face thick with a wild beard, giving him the look of a bandit rather than a scholar. This was Lanpu’s human form—unusual, to say the least, but at least vaguely humanoid compared to his previous appearances.
Kai Xiusu paused in silence for a long moment before speaking.
“This… is the form you’ve spent months perfecting?”
Lanpu scratched his head sheepishly. “Master, I admit it does seem a bit… frail. But I wanted to blend in better as a human, so I had to make it this way. If you’re not satisfied, I can make myself stronger.”
Kai Xiusu sighed inwardly. Was that really the point?
But considering the Ogre’s notoriously odd taste in beauty—once even claiming a female Hill Giant was more radiant than an Elven Queen—he decided to let it slide.
The Red Dragon tilted his head slightly. A surge of elemental turbulence rippled across his body. In his golden, vertical pupils, a flicker of spines-like light flashed—then, a disembodied eye materialized before him, floating in midair. It pulsed with immense elemental power, occasionally revealing fleeting visions of past and future—Heaven’s Judgment Dragon Eye.
Through this eye, the Dragon Sorcerer could unleash devastating breath attacks. Now, the Red Dragon gathered every ounce of his strength, channeling a colossal Extreme Flame Breath into the eye’s core.
“Lanpu, you will enter the tower. At all costs, hold Wagner back. This dragon eye will follow you, granting you divination. I will intervene only at the decisive moment.”
Kai Xiusu had no intention of risking himself recklessly. The Tall Tower still housed Wagner’s Dragon Binding Array—an Eighth-Level Spell capable of affecting even him. But he would not allow this so-called “Dragon-Frenzied Black Wizard” to continue taunting him under his very nose.
If he was not mistaken, the Fragmented Soul had already passed a message before dying.
That meant Wagner knew he was here.
Below, Lanpu was already trembling with anticipation, steam pouring from his nostrils. He dropped to his knees once more.
“Master… I will bring back that Wagner’s head.”
Kai Xiusu replied flatly, “Don’t get too excited. He’s a genuine High-Level Mage. Prepare with utmost caution.”
“Yes, Master.”
To Kai Xiusu’s eyes, Lanpu’s Class Level stood at 11. Nearly half the Kingdom of Ashen’s spell resources were devoted to him. Combined with his already exceptional natural talent, his progress had been staggering—already mastering Sixth Circle Spells.
With full gear, especially the Bennett’s Wisdom and the Dragonline Ogre True Form, his Challenge Rating had skyrocketed to an astonishing 13—on par with a young Red Dragon.
As a veteran of the Kingdom of Ashen and a loyal follower of the Red Dragon, Kai Xiusu trusted him deeply—this was why he had chosen Lanpu for this mission.
But in truth, even with full preparation and complete knowledge of the enemy, Lanpu stood little chance of defeating such a mage alone, especially within Wagner’s own nest—the Tower of Eternal Night. That would depend entirely on the Red Dragon’s follow-up support.
This time, Kai Xiusu had deployed all elite forces. He was determined to succeed.
And as for the White Dragon at the top of the Tall Tower—possessing a faint Ancient Dragon Bloodline—Kai Xiusu was deeply intrigued.
...I only woke up around noon, still a bit dizzy. Maybe I’ll post two more chapters tonight. I promise I’ll make up for it.
