Chapter 21: Octotube Coral
Chapter 21: Octotube Coral
"Haha, I've reached my stop. I'm too lazy to argue with you guys." The square-faced man said, then turned to get off the bus.
A young man standing to his right was holding a plastic bag.
The square-faced man pushed the young man and hurried toward the rear door of the bus.
Qiao Sang noticed that he had only touched the young man's shoulder, but the plastic bag made a rustling sound.
"Fangflare, use Spark on his waist", Qiao Sang commanded directly.
Fangflare was already in a state of readiness, annoyed by this human. If not for Qiao Sang holding it back, it would have already used all its skills on him.
Now that it had a command, it gathered its energy and shot it out with all its might.
The Spark, which was usually the size of a baby's fist, was now as large as an adult's hand.
"Damn!!!"
A sharp, piercing scream echoed throughout the bus.
Everyone on the bus was startled, and the passengers who had just stepped onto the bus from the front door were so frightened that they retreated back to the platform.
"Driver, close the doors!" Qiao Sang turned and shouted to the driver.
The driver, seeing the scene through the rearview mirror, was stunned for a moment.
A two-meter-long white hydroid with eight tentacles suddenly appeared in the bus. As it appeared, the eight tentacles dropped a pile of items.
"Driver, close the doors!" Qiao Sang reminded the driver when he didn't move.
"Oh, oh." The driver came to his senses and fumbled with the button to close the doors.
With the doors closed, Qiao Sang refocused her attention on the scene in front of her.
What is this?
Despite her recent intensive studies, Qiao Sang was still a struggling student and couldn't identify the supernatural creature in front of her.
Qiao Sang turned to the female student and asked, "What is this?"
"It's my phone!"
Qiao Sang: "…"
"And mine!"
"My sandy fruit!"
"The necklace I bought for my girlfriend is in there too!"
"My shoe inserts!!!"
The passengers on the bus excitedly claimed their belongings one by one.
The square-faced man watched the scene with a dark expression.
Everything had happened too quickly. His Octotube Coral was injured, preventing him from getting off the bus in time. Now the doors were closed, and his loot was scattered.
All this was because of that girl!
The square-faced man glared at the girl with Fangflare.
If not for this Fangflare and this girl, he wouldn't have failed!
Now it was too late. A bus full of people was staring at him, and if he tried to escape, he would have to damage the bus, which would definitely injure the passengers.
He knew the difference between theft and assault. The former might result in a fine and a couple of months in jail, while the latter could land him in prison for several to several dozen years.
His only option now was to stay quiet and wait for the police to come.
Seeing the square-faced man's defeated expression, Qiao Sang put away her unnamed supernatural creature and prepared to be captured.
"Everyone, hold him down so he doesn't escape!" Qiao Sang shouted.
She swung a punch, and the square-faced man instinctively stepped back two steps. Seeing this, everyone thought he was trying to escape and swarmed him, pinning him to the ground.
Someone shouted, "You're still trying to hit people?!"
Everyone became furious. How dare he be so arrogant after being caught stealing?
They immediately started punching and kicking him.
"I didn't!" the square-faced man roared.
But no one was listening, and his voice was soon drowned out by the sounds of the beating.
Qiao Sang contributed eighteen kicks to the fray, and when she was tired, she sat down to the side.
After an unknown amount of time, the crowd dispersed.
The man lay on the ground like a dead pig, his nose and face bruised, with claw marks on his face from who knows where. His square jaw had turned into a puffy face, making it impossible to recognize him.
Fangflare squeezed out of the crowd, its wet eyes blinking at Qiao Sang.
The two exchanged a knowing glance and both smiled.
Someone had called the police, and the sirens of the patrol car soon arrived.
The three officers who arrived had trouble identifying the man’s disfigured face, but fortunately, he still had the Beastmaster badge on his chest.
The police scanned the badge to confirm his identity.
“Who caught him stealing?” one of the officers asked.
“It was her!” the female student raised Qiao Sang’s hand, pointing at her.
The other passengers nodded in agreement.
The officer who was asking the questions approached Qiao Sang and said gently, “We need you to come to the police station to give a statement.”
Qiao Sang hesitated, “My mom is waiting for me to come home for dinner.”
The officer smiled, “It won’t take long. This is a good deed, and your mom won’t blame you if you call her and explain.”
Qiao Sang shook her head, “Everyone on the bus is a witness. You should call them. I really need to get home.”
The officer continued, “This man is Chen Jianhui, a repeat offender. We’ve had a reward out for him for some time. Since you caught him, you’ll need to claim the 50,000 Union Coins reward.”
Qiao Sang was taken aback. There was a reward for this?
She immediately straightened up, “I’m happy to give a statement. When should we go?”
The officer was speechless for a moment.
As Qiao Sang was about to get into the police car, the female student held her back, “I’m Bai Yunmiao. Can I add you as a friend?”
“Of course,” Qiao Sang smiled, taking out her phone and adding her.
...
...
By the time Qiao Sang got home, it was already 20:48.
Fortunately, she had called the police to explain her situation to her mother, so she was greeted with a calm and gentle welcome.
“Must be tired after coming home so late. Come and eat; I just reheated the food in the pot.”
Qiao Sang was already hungry. The five skewers of lamb she had eaten hours ago didn’t satisfy her. She sat down at the table and started eating.
“Fangflare must be hungry too. Here, I made a special nutritious dinner for you,” her mother said, bringing a plate of energy food to Fangflare.
Qiao Sang’s appetite diminished. She stopped eating and looked over with concern.
Fangflare didn’t notice Qiao Sang’s gaze. It stared at the energy food, barked once, and happily started eating.
Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief. At least the situation she feared didn’t happen...
When she finished eating, she saw that Fangflare had already finished its meal and was wagging its tail, waiting for her.
Qiao Sang was a bit surprised.
Is Fangflare’s appetite bigger than usual?
She didn’t think much of it. She carried Fangflare to her room, turned on her computer, and started searching for the nameless Supernatural Creature from the bus.
Since she didn’t know its name, she could only search by its physical characteristics.
“Does anyone know what a white Supernatural Creature with eight tentacles and the ability to turn invisible is?”
There were millions of Supernatural Creatures in the world, and many shared similar traits.
After about fifteen minutes of searching, Qiao Sang found the answer she was looking for.
“Octotube Coral.”
