Chapter 21: Danger Perception
Chapter 21: Danger Perception
After such a sudden change, the journey ahead became smooth and uneventful. Along the way, no more unexpected incidents occurred.
Thunderbolt 122 slowly came to a stop inside Yunlan City's high-speed train station, carrying a car full of people.
Before they even left the station, An Paozi curiously asked, "Where are we going next?"
Li Qian looked at An Paozi and didn't answer directly, "You'll find out when we get there." He intentionally kept them in suspense, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
The two walked at a leisurely pace, and midway through, Li Qian's father, Li Chengyang, called. Li Qian answered, saying he had already arrived in Yunlan City.
Soon after, the two reached the taxi stand.
They hailed a taxi, and once inside, the driver asked, "Where are you two handsome gentlemen headed?"
Li Qian's expression turned peculiar as he glanced at An Paozi. Even he was being called a handsome gentleman, it seemed that in this day and age, the term 'handsome gentleman' was almost synonymous with 'man'.
Li Qian smiled and revealed their destination, "Driver, we're going to the Cloudmist Mountain Resort."
Indeed, Li Qian's trip to Yunlan City was specifically for the Cloudmist Mountain Resort.
This Cloudmist Mountain, not only in Yunlan City but also in the entire Jiangnan Province, was a well-known scenic area.
The scenic area was located in the northern part of Yunlan City, about fifty kilometers from the city center, renowned for its peculiar, perilous, and picturesque landscapes.
There were three wonders of Cloudmist Mountain: the Cloudmist Sunrise, the Hundred Foot Waterfall, and the Cloudmist Mountain Tea.
Li Qian's destination at Cloudmist Mountain was the Hundred Foot Waterfall.
Of course, there was an element of exaggeration in this description.
However, he had specifically checked online, and the drop was indeed over a hundred meters, perfectly meeting the terrain requirements for the carp's evolution.
"Going to the Cloudmist Mountain Resort is a bit of a journey." The driver, a middle-aged thin man, skillfully turned the steering wheel and casually responded.
The taxi quickly left the Yunlan City High-Speed Railway Station under the driver's control.
The high-speed train station was in the southern part of Yunlan City, while the Cloudmist Mountain Resort was in the north, and taking a taxi would require traversing almost the entire city.
As they traveled through the city, Li Qian roughly took in the sights of Yunlan City.
It was no wonder it was a first-tier city; even with just a general tour, one could feel the scale and prosperity, which far surpassed that of a third-tier city like Lingwater City.
Of course, Li Qian's familiarity with Yunlan City was also due to the driver's talkative nature.
"Are you going to the Cloudmist Mountain Resort for sightseeing?" The driver asked with a beaming smile as he drove.
Li Qian smiled and replied, "We're from the neighboring Lingwater City, and we've heard a lot about the Cloudmist Mountain Resort. It's said to have beautiful scenery and is a rare tourist destination. Since we have time this weekend, we decided to come and take a look."
Li Qian's words naturally followed the driver's topic, casually chatting.
Throughout the journey, the driver not only fulfilled his duties but also acted as a half-tour guide, so it would be impolite not to respond.
Moreover, An Paozi clearly had no intention of speaking, so the task fell to Li Qian.
"Since you're here for the weekend, you should make the most of your time. Half a day isn't enough to explore the entire Cloudmist Mountain." The driver enthusiastically reminded them.
Li Qian couldn't help but continue to respond, "We're staying here tomorrow as well. We've prepared for two days."
And so, the two chatted intermittently, mostly with the driver speaking and Li Qian occasionally responding, while An Paozi directly closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.
After about an hour and a half of driving, the taxi finally arrived at the foot of Cloud Mist Mountain. The driver slowed down and pointed ahead, informing them, "We're here, that's the entrance to the Cloud Mist Mountain Resort."
Upon hearing this, Li Qian heaved a long sigh of relief and promptly blurted out, "Thank you, driver."
Without further ado, he exited the taxi. It was evident that the taxi driver was a good person, but he was a bit overly enthusiastic.
He had been chattering non-stop, and if it continued, Li Qian might have had to interrupt him directly.
As soon as they got out of the taxi, An Paozi, who had been looking listless just moments ago, suddenly came back to life. With some anticipation, he asked, "Qianzi, can you tell me now?"
Li Qian led the way forward. The entrance to the scenic area was quite eye-catching, and in fact, anyone with eyes could see it without the driver's guidance. As he walked, he said, "It's hard to explain, and even if I tell you now, you won't be able to imagine it. Let's wait a bit longer. There'll be a good show tonight, and then you'll understand."
"You're being all mysterious. I hope you've really got something good to say."
An Paozi muttered, then continued, "What's next?"
"Before we came, I checked online, and there's a hotel inside the scenic area. Let's go there and get a room to rest," Li Qian explained with a smile.
An Paozi's mouth twitched slightly, "What was your original plan?"
Li Qian shrugged, "I was planning to rent a tent."
An Paozi rolled his eyes. He was going to stay in a hotel, treating me like what?
But speaking of tents, An Paozi had no interest in that. Anyway, they were going to stay in a hotel, and it didn't matter if Li Qian shared a bed with him.
It had been over four hours since they set off in the morning. Now, it was past one o'clock, and after checking into a standard room in a hotel not far from the entrance to the scenic area, the two didn't rest right away.
They first went to the hotel restaurant for lunch and then returned to their room. In the corridor leading back to their room, An Paozi's face, which had been cheerful and smiling, suddenly changed.
Li Qian noticed this change immediately, "What's wrong?"
An Paozi's expression turned serious, "Those people we met at the restaurant entrance earlier, do you remember them?"
Li Qian was puzzled, "Of course I remember."
"They gave me a very dangerous vibe..." An Paozi lowered his voice, his eyebrows still furrowed.
"A dangerous vibe?" Li Qian was even more confused.
"I'll explain when we get back to the room," An Paozi said, taking a breath. Once they were back in the room, he began to explain, "You know, I just awakened my Beastmaster Space, and my Beastmaster talent is quite special. It's... danger sense."
"The people we met at the restaurant entrance earlier, for some reason, gave me a very dangerous feeling."
Hearing this, Li Qian's eyebrows furrowed as well. If it was a Beastmaster talent, it was indeed something to take seriously.
"Could it be related to their identities?" Li Qian proposed an idea, "Maybe they're bodyguards, or perhaps one of them has a contract with a particularly bloodthirsty companion beast."
An Paozi shook his head, "That's not impossible."
Li Qian thought for a moment and then reassured him, "Don't worry. We've never met them before, and even if they're very powerful, they won't attack us without reason. Moreover, we're only staying here for one night. It'll be fine."
An Paozi nodded, "Okay, in any case, there's a good show tonight, and then I'll understand."
