Chapter 209: The Summoning of Kai Xiusu
"I haven't time to play with you fools." Wagner finally lost his patience, raising a single hand.
【Death Cloud Spell】
A wave of sickly yellow-green toxic gas surged forward, thick and suffocating. The Players tried to disperse it with Wind Generation Spell, but the poison was too deadly—mere contact caused their skin to rot and blister instantly. Even those clad in full protective spells crumbled to lifeless corpses within moments, consumed by the corrosive fog.
And the potted plant that had transformed into the "Flying Witch"? It withered away in an instant upon contact with the spell.
【Magic Coin】
The Guild was utterly annihilated.
Magic, like all things, had its hierarchy. This was the stark, undeniable gap between true mastery and apprentice-level talent. Even the simplest Magic Missile spell, when cast by a Legendary Mage, could bring a Dragon crashing down—but the same spell from a Wizard Apprentice might not even kill a well-trained Goblin.
The Players were dead. Yet Wagner did not leave. He stood still, motionless, as calm and calculating as any true scholar of magic—nothing like the wild, chaotic figure of legend.
Half an hour passed. He still waited.
From the scattered remains, faint sounds emerged—crackling whispers. The corpses first dissolved into tiny specks of light, then vanished entirely.
Wagner’s eyes glowed with a faint blue aura. His expression was grave.
"My Divination Spell saw nothing. Only emptiness. No trace of spatial distortion. It was as if... they never even existed."
"They don’t belong to this world."
"Those so-called Players—they’re hiding something far greater behind their masks."
His voice was hoarse, trembling. A sudden chill swept through the tower, though no wind stirred. The Black Robe flapped violently in the invisible gust.
"Hahahahaha!"
"Once I truly master the might of the Dragon, once I wield that frenzied strength... I’ll drag every last one of you out from hiding!"
"None will escape."
His gaze burned with madness—so intense, so fanatical, that even his grotesque face seemed to tremble with it.
---
In the Council Chamber of Northwind Keep, the Red Dragon lay sprawled across the massive Iron Throne, his body rising and falling with each breath. From his nostrils came puffs of sulfurous heat, scorching the air.
Beneath him, the iron throne, heated from within by the dragon’s core, had grown dull red—hot enough to sear flesh. A normal man would’ve been roasted alive in seconds. The chamber filled with thick, white smoke. Molten lava bubbled up from fissures in the stone floor, as if Hell itself had cracked open and spilled into the world.
But Kai Xiusu merely activated 【Kingdom Domain】.
An invisible force spread across the hall, calming the chaotic weave of magic. The violent fire element stilled. The air cooled. The infernal scene returned to normal—leaving only the blackened, hardened remnants of molten lava.
"Phew… nearly lost control there."
"I can’t keep sleeping here. Not if my palace isn’t finished soon."
Kai Xiusu slowly opened his golden eyes, a flicker of relief in their depths.
He didn’t want to wake up to find Northwind Keep reduced to a molten wasteland. After all, this fortress was now the political and economic heart of the Kingdom of Ashen. If it were destroyed suddenly, the blow would be catastrophic—devastating to the entire realm.
Beside him, the Magic Mirror flickered with a faint aura—yet it was suppressed by the strength of his domain. It was Lanpu, trying to contact him.
Kai Xiusu casually lifted the barrier of Kingdom Domain.
The Ogre’s ugly face reappeared in the magical image.
Lanpu stood at attention, his expression solemn.
"My most honored Master."
"Yes?"
"I’ve carried out your orders. Over the past few days, the Stellarfallen have repeatedly ventured into the Tower of Eternal Night, gathering vital intelligence. I’ve compiled everything—location, defense patterns, exploration routes, even Wagner’s precise spellwatch. It’s all ready to present to you."
"And I must say, your choice in recruiting these fearless Stellarfallen was nothing short of genius. Sending ordinary adventurers into a forbidden ruin like that would’ve cost thousands of gold coins in bounties. But you sent hundreds to die… and the Kingdom only paid a negligible 'Faction Contribution'."
As he reported, Lanpu couldn’t resist a little flattery.
At that, Kai Xiusu’s lazy eyes flickered with genuine interest.
"Come here yourself. We’re about to move."
"Yes, Master."
Without hesitation, Lanpu activated a teleportation spell. A ripple split the air, and through a dimensional rift, he stepped into the Council Chamber.
Kai Xiusu deliberately lifted the Kingdom Domain, allowing the Cannibal Magician to pass.
Kneeling before the Red Dragon, Lanpu could not help but marvel:
"Master… your power is beyond comprehension. In my humble understanding, this space feels like forged steel—impenetrable. No ordinary spatial magic can pierce it. I couldn’t even carve a palm-sized hole in it."
Kai Xiusu said nothing. He studied Lanpu carefully.
The Cannibal Magician hadn’t changed much in size—but his Dragon blood was now far more evident. Where once he wore a massive cloak stitched from various magical robes, now he had fused them into a single, flowing crimson-red long robe, nearly dragging on the ground. It shimmered with a deep, radiant magical aura—far more refined than before.
But the most striking feature was the ornamentation.
Around his neck hung a necklace of nine pale, ghastly skulls—enough to send shivers down any man’s spine. Even the Red Dragon’s lips twitched slightly, a faint, eerie sense of déjà vu crossing his face.
"Damn… is this from Sandy River?" Kai Xiusu thought, inwardly sighing.
He opened his Character Sheet. On each skull, names appeared: 【Slaud's Wisdom】, 【Laoer's Wisdom】, 【Wadra's Wisdom】—mostly rare or uncommon quality.
Recalling Lanpu’s unreserved report, he already knew the truth.
And before the Red Dragon could ask, Lanpu spoke up.
"Master, those mages were truly vile. I couldn’t bear to watch them suffer. So I killed them."
"Regrettably, their brains weren’t bright enough to craft anything truly perfect. Even when layered together, the effect wasn’t as strong as the first time. Only Slaud’s skull still holds a decent potency."
His tone carried a hint of disappointment. After all, such creations weren’t made lightly.
