Chapter 209: Poison Sword that Pierces the Intestines, Killing as Easy as Smashing Garlic
Chapter 209: Poison Sword that Pierces the Intestines, Killing as Easy as Smashing Garlic
"Hmm?"
The man's eyes flickered, and he glanced at Jiang Feng, who pointed to a bundle in the corner of the carriage covered by a blanket.
The man's eyes lit up, and he nodded. In an instant, a hidden weapon shot out.
"Swish!"
"Ding!"
The sword light flickered, and the hidden weapon flew away. Then the blanket fell towards Jiang Feng and the green-robed man. The black-clad man behind it leaped up, piercing through the roof of the carriage and escaping.
"You turtle's son, don't run!" The man in green threw off the blanket and, with a leap, also jumped out of the carriage. "Uncle Zhen, Second Brother, that turtle's son is with me!"
The black-clad man in front and the green-robed man behind were about to rush into the woods when two more figures appeared, flanking them on either side. Before they could get close, a volley of dark blue pellets was shot at them.
The black-clad man brandished his long sword, his steps agile. He dodged all the hidden weapons but was blocked at the entrance of the woods by the other two, creating a three-on-one situation. Surprisingly, he held his own against them.
Although he was not inferior to the three from the Tang Clan, he clearly had no intention of prolonging the fight. He tried to escape into the woods several times but was forced back by the hidden weapons.
Jiang Feng asked the coachman to stop the carriage and leaned closer to the window, watching with great interest.
"Young Master Jiang, these people are from the martial arts world. They don't hesitate to take lives over a disagreement. We should leave quickly," the coachman said anxiously.
Wu's family was a lineage of merchants, and although there were martial artists in the family, this coachman had no martial arts training. Naturally, he was unaware of Jiang Feng's strength.
"It's fine. Don't panic. Didn't you hear that those men in green robes are from the Tang Clan in Shu Province?" Jiang Feng took out a box of peanuts from the carriage and offered some to the coachman. "They are a major force in Shu, and they won't kill indiscriminately."
"The lords of the Tang Clan may not kill, but that other guy doesn't look like a good person!" the coachman said.
"But isn't he about to be captured by the people from the Tang Clan?" Jiang Feng said as he munched on peanuts and sipped his tea. It must be said that these three members of the Tang Clan were quite skilled. Their martial arts were far inferior to the black-clad man, but relying on their hidden weapon skills, they managed to hold him in place with their three-on-one advantage.
The coachman's voice trembled as he said, "But the lords of the Tang Clan have a limited number of hidden weapons, too!"
As soon as the coachman finished speaking, the green-robed man and the other young man who had boarded earlier slowed down their attacks. Only the middle-aged man remained as the main attacker, but most of his attention was focused on protecting the two young men.
However, at this moment, the black-clad man didn't seem eager to leave immediately. A cruel smile flashed across his mouth, and he thrust his long sword forward, seemingly intending to take out the three people in front of him.
Before he could succeed, two long whistles sounded from the distance. The whistles were long and drawn out, indicating that the person approaching had remarkable internal strength and was likely a master from the Tang Clan.
"Big Brother and Brother Xing have arrived!"
"Don't let him get away!"
The three men were invigorated, but the black-clad man's expression changed. He brandished his long sword to attack the two young men while distracting the middle-aged man's attention. Then, he leaped and dove into the woods.
Before entering the woods, the black-clad man glanced at the carriage. His gaze met Jiang Feng's, who maintained an innocent and clueless expression. However, the black-clad man's eyes burned with resentment and hatred.
In the next moment, as their eyes locked, the black-clad man disappeared into the woods. The three men in green whistled and greeted the newcomers before pursuing the black-clad man into the woods, attempting to catch up with him.
Not long after, two more figures in green robes flew by, their light and graceful movements indicating their advanced light-body techniques. Without sparing a glance at the carriage by the road, they, too, vanished into the woods in pursuit.
"Of course. Tang Sect is a major force in the martial arts world of Shu Province," the coachman boasted, despite his lack of martial arts training. "The three major sects of Emei, Bashan, and Qingcheng, along with the Tang Family Fort in Shu Province and the Changjiang Alliance in Chongqing, form the five major powers of Shu."
Jiang Feng's eyebrows rose inquisitively, "Is the Changjiang Alliance included as well?"
"The Changjiang Alliance unites the wharf gangs from dozens of cities along the middle and upper reaches of the Changjiang River. How could they not be considered a power with an alliance master whose martial arts are said to be unparalleled?" The coachman countered.
His reasoning was sound, leaving Jiang Feng unable to refute.
"I didn't expect you to know so much about the martial arts world." Jiang Feng smiled.
Having just witnessed a thrilling battle between martial arts experts, the coachman was also excited and proud as he shared, "When we have free time, we like to hang out at the teahouses and listen to the stories told by the traveling porters. That's how I learned about these things."
Now, he would have his own tale to tell—the story of the Tang Family Fort experts pursuing their enemy. It would be a story he could boast about for months.
Jiang Feng was familiar with the Emei and Bashan sects, as well as the Tang Family Fort. However, he was unaware that the Qingcheng Sect also existed in the Gu Long world—specifically, the Qingcheng Mo Family assassins from September Eagle Soaring. They were not the traditional Qingcheng Sect in the conventional sense.
Nonetheless, Qingcheng Mountain was one of the ancestral temples of Taoism, renowned and influential. It was only natural for them to have a martial arts lineage, even if they chose not to involve themselves in the affairs of the martial arts world or appear in the stories of the Gu Long world.
...
The coachman dropped Jiang Feng off at Chengdu and was then dismissed by him.
"I plan to explore the scenery around Chengdu, then follow the Jinma River to the Min River and finally to the Changjiang River, returning directly to Jingzhou. There's no need for you to wait for me here," Jiang Feng explained.
Upon arriving in Chengdu, Jiang Feng checked into an inn and spent some time exploring the city, purchasing daily necessities, and hiring a temporary coachman. He intended to set off for Emei Mountain the next day.
However, when he returned to his room carrying a bundle of local specialties, he found that someone was already waiting for him.
It was the black-clad man who had been pursued by the Tang Sect the previous day.
Jiang Feng blinked, standing still in surprise.
The black-clad man noticed the brand-new longsword in Jiang Feng's hand and a cold smile appeared on his face. "Heh, do you know how to use a sword?"
Jiang Feng glanced at the sword in his hand, realizing that this man still believed him to be an ordinary young master with no martial arts training. He couldn't help but take an interest in the situation and pretended to swallow nervously before cautiously asking, "Didn't the Tang Sect catch you?"
The black-clad man scoffed, "Two years ago, I killed the eldest grandson of the Tang Sect. They've been after me ever since, and yet here I am, alive and well."
Whoa! This guy was a real expert!
"But I never expected that you, a mere young master, would dare to betray me. You've got some guts," the black-clad man sneered, slowly drawing his longsword. "Go ahead, call for help. Let's see if the Tang Sect will come to your rescue."
Jiang Feng's face paled, and he set down the bundle before reaching for the sword hilt. "Who are you?"
The black-clad man found it amusing that even in this situation, the young master before him was still concerned about setting down his bundle properly. He let out a derisive laugh, his contempt growing. "Have you ever heard of the Poison Sword that Pierces the Intestines, killing as easy as smashing garlic?"
"No!"
