Chapter 209: Lanchi's Act of Kindness
Chapter 209: Lanchi's Act of Kindness
Deep within the confines of the Ekelith Academy, near the gardens of the Magic Engineering Institute, stood a majestic Gothic Revival building. The red brick walls bore the marks of time, with history settling within its halls like dust.
"Lanchi, have you heard the latest gossip?"
"No, what is it?"
Lanchi and Xiuberlian chatted casually as they strolled into the familiar old humanities building of the Magic Engineering Institute, just like they had done many times before.
"You've been absent from the Sage's Institute these past few days, so you might not know. The students are abuzz with the news that Dean Lorren has been in frequent communication with Knight Commander Julianna. Today, during one of his lectures, he received another message from her. She intends to come to Ekelith personally to meet with him. Lorren was so frightened that he immediately assured her that no further incidents would occur involving the students from the Alolan Kingdom's academic exchange program. Only then did Knight Commander Julianna temporarily cancel her trip to the Kingdom of Horton."
"So, Dean Lorren was conducting communication magic during class time, and he didn't even get his pay docked?"
"Your priorities are quite something..."
As they stepped onto the second floor, the region dedicated to Professor Bolao's research workshop, the soft whirring of machinery and the murmurs of magic engineers at work filled the air. Turning the corner, they spotted a familiar figure descending the stairs.
"Lanchi, Xiuberlian."
Frey, with his usual half-tinted glasses, exuded a carefree aura as he approached and greeted them.
Ever since their return from the Shadow World, the trio had been going their separate ways. Lanchi and Xiuberlian had more pressing matters to attend to, while Frey had been occupied with student council affairs, assisting the president.
"Were you two just discussing Dean Lorren again?"
Frey inquired, having overheard snippets of their conversation on his way down the stairs.
"Yes," Lanchi replied.
Xiuberlian promptly recounted to Frey the details of their conversation.
"I see," Frey nodded.
"Frey, please don't spread this around the Knight's Institute," Xiuberlian said, a hint of worry in her voice.
"Rest assured, I'm not one to indulge in idle gossip," Frey assured her.
Soon after, Frey bid the pair farewell and headed off to attend to the matters entrusted to him by the student council president.
"By the way, who leaked the information about Dean Lorren and Knight Commander Julianna that the president shared with us last time?" Xiuberlian asked thoughtfully as they ascended to the third floor, their footsteps softened by the plush carpet that ran along the corridor. Before them stretched a dark, intricately carved wooden corridor, bathed in the soft light of the ceiling chandelier.
"It wasn't me," Lanchi said with a smile.
"I suppose not," Xiuberlian murmured, perplexed. She knew Lanchi wasn't the type to indulge in rumor-mongering.
At the end of the corridor, they reached a pair of deep crimson double doors, their hue a calming shade of crimson. Beyond those doors lay two separate worlds.
As Lanchi pushed open the hefty rosewood door, a spacious student council room came into view, a blend of classical and fresh aesthetics.
At the far end of the room, behind a long table, President Monaster looked up and acknowledged their presence with a smile, his voice deep and reassuring.
Lanchi and Xiuberlian exchanged a glance, knowing that their assistance was required for some matter.
However, before the president could speak, their attention was drawn to the side of the room, where an additional figure sat on the sofa in the resting area, sobbing softly. Vice President Asina sat beside her, offering words of comfort and handing her tissues to wipe away her tears.
The two immediately recognized the purple-haired figure, their eyes widening in surprise.
How did Miss Countess Sophia end up here?
The student council president didn't say anything; he simply gestured silently for the two to approach, and soon, they both nodded.
As Lanchi and Xiuberlian sat down on the sofa, Sophia finally noticed their presence.
When she saw Xiuberlian, she couldn't help but let her tears flow, wanting to pour out her woes to her.
However, when her eyes caught the smiling Lanchi, Sophia's tear-stained face froze.
She turned into a startled child, wiping her face frantically as if nothing had happened.
"Miss Sophia, no matter what troubles you're facing, you can tell us about it, and we will help you."
Lanchi spoke with a gentle and concerned tone,
"It is my responsibility and duty to help students within the school resolve their conflicts, psychological, or emotional entanglements."
"......"
Upon hearing this, Sophia glanced up at Lanchi slightly.
But she quickly averted her gaze, stammering and too afraid to speak.
Ever since the incident at the Card Maker's Association, she had been dreading seeing Lanchi again.
Because Ta She had died.
Seeing him would only remind her of the arrogant words she had spoken, echoing in her ears like a curse!
Making her wish she could find a crack to hide in.
"Sophia, rest assured of Lanchi's capabilities, and I guarantee this. First, tell us what happened."
Xiuberlian said with concern, her worry for Sophia was genuine.
"Xiuberlian..."
Seeing Xiuberlian's gentle demeanor, Sophia's eyes began to water, and she couldn't hold back her tears any longer.
"You know that second-year genius card maker from the Alolan Royal Academy's academic exchange team, don't you..."
Sophia glanced at the two sitting across from her on the sofa, her voice weak and uncertain.
"Yes, the second-year Gold-level card maker. She's quite impressive."
Xiuberlian replied.
"......"
Sophia froze for a moment upon hearing this. She felt that Xiuberlian might be looking down on a second-year Gold-level card maker.
But then she thought again.
Whether it was Xiuberlian's father or the man sitting next to Xiuberlian, they were both unbelievably extraordinary.
So, in comparison, in Xiuberlian's perception, Card Maker Kallen's achievements might not seem as impressive...
"Miss Sophia, did something happen between you and Her Highness Ainor due to that Card Maker Kallen from the Alolan Kingdom?"
Lanchi seemed to have guessed something, and his tone remained calm as he inquired.
"Wuu..."
Hearing this, Sophia's tears flowed uncontrollably, and she couldn't utter a word.
"It's alright, take a deep breath and slowly tell us what happened. I promise to help you, even if you feel it's beyond repair. I will help you find a solution."
Lanchi's every word was soft and slow, like the soothing sound of an angel, instilling a sense of reassurance.
Sobbing, Sophia looked at Lanchi, and she couldn't help but feel a desire to trust him, despite him being the cause of her psychological trauma back at the Card Maker's Association.
"Will you really help me...?"
Sophia asked timidly.
She felt that Lanchi should dislike her, as she had been filled with jealousy towards him before and hadn't treated him kindly. Yet, he remained gentle and tolerant.
If there was one word to describe his magnanimity.
It might not be entirely fitting, but he was truly as great as a saint.
"Not only will I help you, but if you wish, I can even help you become a queen."
Lanchi nodded with the assurance of a mentor.
As long as Sophia was willing to learn, he was willing to teach.
"!"
Xiuberlian immediately turned to look at Lanchi.
Hearing Lanchi's devilish whisper, she felt that something terrible was about to happen!
