Chapter 209: Kakashi: Absolutely Impossible!
Chapter 209: Kakashi: Absolutely Impossible!
"Then let's take on the mission to suppress the mountain bandits in Sambukawa." Mu Yue suggested after some thought.
Having studied the map of the Land of Rivers, she knew that the country's capital, Sambukawa, was located closer to the Land of Wind, increasing the likelihood of encountering opportunities for missions.
The registration ninja quickly completed the formalities and handed Mu Yue a piece of paper.
"It's that country from our last mission," Obito said curiously, leaning over to take a look.
"What's wrong? You don't like the Land of Rivers?" Mu Yue asked as she put away the documents.
Obito scratched his head with his right hand and replied, "I guess I don't dislike it, but the mayor we dealt with last time left a really bad impression on me. Still, I think such despicable people are rare."
The mayor from their previous mission had truly disgusted Obito. He found it hard to comprehend how someone could be so vile, and he wondered why people couldn't just get along amicably.
"People like that deserve to be punished by the fist of youth!" Might Guy chimed in, also remembering the despicable mayor from their last assignment. It was the first time he had encountered someone so utterly contemptible.
He thought that those who had mocked his father were already despicable enough, but compared to what the mayor had done, it was nothing.
"It's normal to dislike such people. I don't like them either," Mu Yue said with a laugh, ruffling the hair of her two disciples as they exited the Hokage Building.
There was something she didn't say—that in this world, such despicable people were bound to exist due to the feudal system.
The reason Obito felt that such people were rare was because he had grown up in Konoha, where the village's detached status and harmonious atmosphere had created that illusion for him.
"Does anyone need to go back and get something? If so, hurry up and get it, and we'll set off right away," Mu Yue asked.
All three disciples shook their heads. Thanks to Mu Yue's reminder the day before, they had come prepared.
"Then let's go now. The sooner we finish the mission, the sooner we'll be back," Mu Yue said.
"Don't we have a client this time?" Obito asked curiously.
"Of course, there's always a client for a mission," Mu Yue replied. "But this time, the client isn't in Konoha. They're in the Land of Rivers."
Except for escort missions, where the client had to be present in Konoha, clients for other missions didn't need to be physically in the village as long as the payment was made.
Mu Yue thought this arrangement was quite good. Having a client could slow down their travel pace, so without one, they could make their way there quickly.
"Let's go, let's go! I'm so excited! I wonder what kind of enemies we'll encounter. I hope it's not the Raikage or Tsuchikage, just kidding!"
As he embarked on his third mission, Obito began to fantasize about the foes they would face this time.
Kakashi's lips twitched, and he felt like he couldn't hold it in any longer. They were going to suppress mountain bandits, not take on the Hidden Cloud or Rock Villages, and encountering the Raikage or Tsuchikage was as likely as meeting the Sage of Six Paths.
"At least dream about something a little more realistic," Kakashi couldn't help but say. "We're dealing with mountain bandits, not ninja villages."
"Why does it have to be realistic when it's just a dream?" Obito retorted. "I'm just joking, but it's not unusual to encounter ninjas even on a C-rank mission like this. After all, we did meet ninjas during our last mission, which was just about driving away wild beasts."
Obito's response left Kakashi speechless. It was highly unusual to encounter ninjas on a C-rank mission.
However, considering that both of Obito's previous C-rank missions had taken unexpected turns, it wasn't surprising that he would expect the same this time.
"You'll know once you've completed this mission. Our bad luck from the previous two missions won't repeat itself. It's impossible for ninjas to show up again this time."
"Buddy, you shouldn't be so sure," Might Guy said, stroking his chin. "Teacher Mu Yue always says that it's easier to encounter unexpected events during times of war."
Guy shared Obito's sentiment, believing that encountering ninjas during missions was normal.
Kakashi remained silent, thinking that Obito and Guy's limited mission experience had led them to this misconception. Before joining Mu Yue's class, he had completed dozens of C-rank missions without a single unexpected incident.
"Let's give it our all and make our way there as quickly as possible," Mu Yue said with a smile. "Use the breathing techniques as you run, and the All-Concentration Breathing if you can."
For Mu Yue, a C-rank mission was just an opportunity to train her disciples in a different location; she intended to ensure they received the full benefit of the training.
"Kakashi, how about a race to see who can run faster and longer?" Obito challenged, confident in his mastery of the All-Concentration Breathing, which was the most advanced among the disciples. Additionally, Kakashi had only recently started learning the breathing techniques.
"I'm not interested," Kakashi replied flatly, seeing through Obito's ploy.
"Our fiery youth should embrace competition!" Guy exclaimed enthusiastically. "Obito, I'll race you!"
"Teacher Mu Yue, can you be our referee?" Obito asked, turning to Mu Yue.
Although he had failed to entice Kakashi, Obito was still eager to compete. After all, he had defeated Kakashi in their previous battle, so beating Guy would be equivalent to a victory over Kakashi.
Obito had been wanting to spar with Kakashi for the past few days, but with Mu Yue's recent introduction of the new breathing technique, he decided to wait until he had mastered it before challenging Kakashi again. At the moment, he wasn't entirely confident in his ability to win.
Mu Yue smiled and nodded, then shouted, "Ready? Three, two, one, go!"
"Rock Breathing, All-Concentration Breathing!"
"Fire Breathing, All-Concentration Breathing!"
Obito and Guy unleashed their full power, speeding forward like cannonballs.
Although he wasn't participating in the race, Kakashi also ran silently, pushing himself to the limit with the breathing technique.
Obito had a slight advantage at the start, but Guy quickly overtook him and pulled ahead.
"Oh no," Obito thought as he watched Guy pull away. "I forgot that Guy's Rock Breathing enhances his physical strength much more effectively."
However, Obito was determined to win and pushed himself to the limit, drawing on his experience practicing the Constant with Mu Yue.
"I need to master the Lightning Breathing soon so I don't fall behind," Kakashi thought as he watched his two companions sprint ahead.
Although he had lost to Guy once, Kakashi had no intention of being defeated repeatedly.
"Phew, I miscalculated," Obito panted, struggling to catch his breath.
Despite his best efforts, he couldn't keep up with Guy, whose endurance far surpassed his own.
"Well, that might take a while because I don't know any fire techniques at all," Guy laughed in response.
For them to compete in fire techniques, Guy would first have to learn one, and currently, none of his abilities had any association with fire.
Once they left the Fire Country, Mu Yue halted their intense training. Although her strength could handle most situations, she preferred to err on the side of caution.
