Chapter 208: The Rainbow Gem
Chapter 208: The Rainbow Gem
In addition to Luffy, three other figures appeared in the air. As Luffy landed steadily on the platform, the trio fell into the smoke and debris from the explosion, emitting a dull thud.
Luffy emerged from the smoke, adjusting his straw hat and chuckling. "Hahaha, that was close! I almost fell down there!"
Bang!
As soon as he finished speaking, three figures rushed out of the smoke, simultaneously striking him on the head, causing it to wobble.
"You almost got us killed!" they shouted sharply.
If those three could even be considered human.
The one at the back was familiar—the long-nosed man they had encountered on the sea train.
However, the other two were peculiar: on the left was a skull, and on the right was a creature that had transformed into a humanoid beast, wearing a cherry blossom-colored top hat and resembling a gorilla, with all the characteristics of a fur tribe oddity.
"Cutler Fram."
Lucci, on the other hand, turned his attention to the one responsible for the explosion, the man who had reattached his palm to his wrist. "I see, so you've joined forces with the Straw Hat crew."
As the smoke and dust cleared, Red-Nosed Divide and his two charred subordinates lay on the ground, their legs twitching sporadically.
After a few twitches, the three of them clambered to their feet shakily. "Damn you, Straw Hat brat! Are you deliberately trying to stop us?"
Luffy tilted his head in confusion. "Hey, didn't you guys attack me first?"
"Regardless, you'll pay for this!"
Divide shouted and pulled his two subordinates along as he fled in the direction of Sag.
"Who's that guy?" Sag turned his head to look and asked.
No one answered him.
Lily didn't recognize this character.
Lucci, despite being a secret agent, wasn't familiar with him either. He gathered intelligence specifically for his missions and only knew about those individuals with notorious reputations; the rest didn't interest him.
However, it was clear that this was a small-time pirate.
"'Silver Fox' Foxy," Hawkins identified, glancing at him briefly. "A small-time pirate active in the Long Ring Long Land, with a bounty of only 240 million berries. But he's quite famous in the 'Davy Back Fight' game."
"What's that?"
"Davy Back Fight," Hawkins explained. "An ancient game among pirates where they compete to acquire better crew members. The losers must swear allegiance to the winners for life, and any who break their oath are thrown into the sea, never to sail again."
Hawkins continued, "You're a pirate, and you don't know this game?"
Robin chimed in, "We encountered him in Long Ring Long Land, and he caused us quite a bit of trouble. He's an interesting character."
"Deciding crew members through a game?"
Sag paused, then shook his head and laughed. "Pirates, always dreaming and coming up with strange ideas."
He watched the approaching figure and asked, "So this Divide guy is strong?"
"Divide... what?"
Sag's words reached Foxy's ears as he drew closer, and he halted in his tracks. His face, which had been angry from Luffy's counterattack, now wore an expression of utter dejection, and his head hung low as if surrounded by a gloomy black aura.
"Is my hairstyle really that ugly?" he mumbled dejectedly.
"Boss, it's not ugly at all! You're super handsome!" one of his female pirate subordinates cheered him on.
The other, who resembled a monkey, snickered by her side.
Quite an odd bunch.
"That's right, I'm very handsome!"
Just as he could be easily discouraged, he was also easily encouraged.
After a few words of encouragement, Foxy put his hands on his hips, raised his head high, and extended a finger, pointing it at the pool in front of him. "How dare you insult my fabulous hairstyle! Prepare to face the wrath of Foxy!"
He formed a peculiar pose with his fingers: his middle and ring fingers locked with his thumb, while his index and pinky fingers extended outward. A purple glow emanated from the locked fingers.
"Hmm?"
Lily's eyes narrowed, and she gripped the hilt of the sword that one of her subordinates was holding.
Hawkins drew a tarot card and examined it but remained silent.
Lucci, who had been hanging his hands by his sides, now extended a single finger, as if gesturing at a dead man.
"A Devil Fruit user," he remarked.
Sag glanced at Foxy and quickly lost interest, turning his back to him as he relaxed against the edge of the pool, arms spread wide.
"Slow."
"Gum-Gum Rocket!"
Luffy's elongated hands shot forward, striking Foxy's body. The force of the blow sent Foxy and his two subordinates flying off the platform and into the sea.
As they fell, a small booklet fell from the air and landed on the ground behind Sag.
At that moment, Lily released her grip on the sword hilt and turned her attention elsewhere.
"Nami, Robin, are you alright?" Luffy ran over, but before he could get close, he noticed the group gathered around the pool, especially Lucci, who was standing directly across from him with a cold expression.
"It's you! Mr. Leopard!" Luffy exclaimed, startled. He raised his hand to his mouth and shouted, "Nami, Robin, run! I'll fight him!"
"Stop this nonsense," Lucci said flatly. "I have no interest in fighting you right now. Our business is concluded, but if you insist on fighting, I won't hesitate to kill you this time."
"Rob Lucci!"
Franky and the others rushed over, once again detaching his palm and aiming the cannon on his wrist.
Meanwhile, Usopp pulled back his slingshot, and Chopper, who had shrunk in size, hid behind Usopp, looking panicked and confused, his tiny hooves resembling a battle stance.
"Huh? Enemies again?" The skeleton tilted its head from side to side, looking a bit confused and unsure of the situation.
"Skull..."
Lily stared in surprise at the talking, mobile skeleton, who seemed perfectly comfortable basking in the sunlight.
Hawkins, on the other hand, wore a look of keen interest.
A functioning skeleton was certainly intriguing.
Even though they could guess he was an ability user, this skeleton was still quite a curiosity.
"It's you!"
Zoro rushed over from a nearby waterfall hot spring, his eyes widening as he spotted Lily, and his hand immediately went to the sword at his waist.
"No need to get violent, Luffy, Zoro. They're not our enemies right now, and Lucci is a pirate now too!" Nami called out. "He's Sag's subordinate!"
"Sag?"
Luffy tilted his head, looking at the man with his back turned to him in the pool, thinking hard before finally punching his palm, "Oh! It's you! White-haired guy! Hey, Grandpa said you were captured and imprisoned. What happened? Were you released?"
He laughed heartily, "So it turns out you can get out! Long time no see, White-haired guy."
Sag turned his head, looking at the bewildered Luffy behind him, and rolled his eyes, "If you really can't remember people, just ask the historian on your ship."
Boom!
As he finished speaking, a nearby jumpable hot spring pool splashed with a huge wave.
Reinette jumped into the middle of the pool with a swimming tube, laughing happily, "Yeah! Jump success!"
"Don't play such dangerous games, it's very easy to drown."
Marika, dressed in a high-slit swimsuit that exuded a light mature charm, fished up the little pink-haired girl floating in the pool with a swimming tube and brought her up to the platform, heading towards Sag's side of the hot spring pool.
"Ah, we've met so many familiar faces." Marika smiled.
"Nami-chan, Robin-chan!"
The blonde loser dog with the eyebrow quirk rushed over as well, "I heard the noise, are you guys alright?"
Sanji slid to his knees, and as he passed by a waiter, he smoothly took the tray of drinks and presented it to Lily and Marika with a single knee on the ground, one hand on his chest, and the other holding the tray. He said, drunk with emotion:
"What an honor to meet two beautiful ladies here at this warm hot spring resort. Your presence here makes me feel the wonderful sensation of soaking in a hot spring without even stepping into one. Please enjoy these beverages, even though I didn't make them myself, they contain my deepest and most admiring love! and! peace!"
Marika gently caressed her cheek, smiling, "What a strange man."
Lily completely ignored him.
"Hey!"
Reinette took off her swim tube, a little annoyed at Sanji, "Why didn't you bring one for me?"
"Ah, that was an oversight on my part, beautiful young lady."
After being indirectly rejected by Lily and Marika, Sanji remained unfazed. He stood up gracefully and smiled, "But these drinks contain alcohol, so it's not suitable for children. If you'd like, I can get you a suitable dessert."
Pa-da
A strange round ball fell onto Reinette's head, rolling down from her head into her hand.
Reinette looked puzzled, and before she could examine what was in her hand, the sky began to rain down countless colorful balls.
"Candy rain, it's candy rain!"
Usopp tilted his head back, letting the candy fall from the cloud above into his mouth.
"Candy?"
Reinette licked a small bit of the blue candy in her hand, her eyes lighting up as she popped the whole thing into her mouth, "It really is candy! It's raining candy, Sag, look, it's raining candy!"
Marika caught one and popped it into her mouth, nodding, "The sweetness is just right, and it's not cloying. It would make a great dessert if it's slightly melted."
She waved her hand, signaling one of her subordinates, "Go collect these candies. If they're for sale here, buy a batch."
"Yes, Marika."
"Candy, so much candy!"
Luffy opened his mouth wide, like a net, catching the falling candies, chewing and shouting at the same time, "Let's have a candy banquet then!"
The Straw Hat crew indulged in the candy frenzy, seemingly forgetting all about Sag and his crew.
Even the Natural Disaster Pirates, including Reinette, only ate one candy each before stopping, looking at the chaotic Straw Hats with disdain, "Is this really the Straw Hat Pirates? They don't look like pirates at all."
"Whether they're pirates or not, we can't define that. They have their rules, and we have ours. Don't worry about them. Let them do their thing, and we'll do ours."
Sag stood up in the pool, stepping onto the platform, and casually picked up the small booklet that had fallen on the ground. He glanced at it, and his eyes suddenly narrowed.
"Sag, what are you doing? You can't even read it, and where did that booklet come from?" Reinette asked, puzzled.
"Participation! Do you know what that means?"
Sag rolled his eyes, then handed the booklet to Lily, annoyed, "Read what's written on it!"
Lily: "..."
Next time, just be more straightforward; you don't need to try so hard to be involved.
She took the booklet and opened the first page, reading aloud: "The correlation between the round rainbow phenomenon and the rainbow gem, as well as the research on gem production."
