Chapter 208: The Battle of Apshi City (Part 3)
Chapter 208: The Battle of Apshi City (Part 3)
"Hemlock, Link, Jocelyn, Andre, Carson, let's go!" Hemlock turned to the four Archmages behind him.
"Understood." The four Archmages stepped out from the crowd and followed Hemlock into the teleportation array.
...
In the open space in front of Apshi City's western gate.
Hum...
A deep blue teleportation portal opened here.
Hemlock and the four Archmages emerged, soaring high into the sky, heading toward Su Yu and Tina's position to provide support.
Count Philip almost had a heart attack when he saw the five flying figures.
"How can this be! Five Fifth-Rank powerhouses, where did Kexing find such reinforcements?!"
Earlier, Philip thought Kexing was just putting up a futile resistance like a clown. Now, he realized that the "clown" wasn't Kexing but himself.
...
Even from a distance, Hemlock shouted loudly to Su Yu, "Brother Kexing, we're here! We're not too late, are we?"
"Of course not, the battle hasn't even started yet." Su Yu smiled and waved at him. "Let me introduce you. This is Count Philip of Luan Town; Count Philip, this is Hemlock of the Scholars' Sanctuary."
Su Yu's tone was as casual as a normal conversation, introducing them to each other.
Count Philip's face, however, was particularly grim. He glared at Hemlock, "Hemlock, this is a conflict between noble lords. How dare the Scholars' Sanctuary openly intervene? Are you not afraid of the entire noble class's backlash?"
Hemlock's expression remained unchanged as he shrugged. "We didn't really want to get involved, but Kexing gave us too many Psychic Coins."
Then he turned to his companions and instructed, "Don't waste time arguing with them. Move quickly and finish this so we can get back to our studies."
"Understood." The other four Archmages nodded and began casting their spells.
The five Fifth-Rank powerhouses of Luan Town looked extremely uneasy.
Now it was 5 against 8, and they were at a significant numerical disadvantage. Moreover, their enemy included Tina, who could take on three at once. How could they possibly win?
Noticing that the Archmages of the Scholars' Sanctuary were simultaneously casting spells, the five powerhouses exchanged glances and quickly made a decision—retreat!
Without hesitation, they immediately fled westward toward Orlan City.
With a whistling sound, they vanished into the horizon in an instant.
...
Su Yu and his group had no intention of pursuing them.
With the five enemy powerhouses gone, the armies below became lambs awaiting slaughter.
The Archmages, including Hemlock, gathered their magical energy, preparing to cast area-of-effect spells to incapacitate the enemy forces.
"Hold on a moment, let me try to persuade them to surrender," Su Yu said to the Archmages. Then he shouted down to the Luan Town army, "All the Fifth-Rank powerhouses fighting for you have fled, and we still have eight Fifth-Rank powerhouses on our side!
I order you to lay down your weapons and surrender immediately! I'll count down from ten. If you don't surrender, there will be only one word—death!"
"Ten!"
"Nine!"
The Luan Town soldiers were well aware of the situation overhead. Sensing the overwhelming magical energy from the five Archmages, each soldier felt their scalp tingle.
"I surrender!"
"I surrender! Please don't kill me!"
"I surrender!"
The soldiers began throwing down their weapons and kneeling in surrender.
The atmosphere of surrender was contagious. Once one soldier surrendered, it often prompted those around them to follow suit.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Zero!"
Su Yu's countdown ended.
Below, a large crowd had already knelt in surrender.
By now, except for Count Philip and his loyal guards, all the remaining soldiers had surrendered.
Count Philip watched this with a deathly pale face.
But there was nothing he could do; he was only at the third rank and had no chance of escaping.
"Philip, will you surrender?" Su Yu drew out the Mushroom's Sorrow and pointed it at him.
"Hmph!" Philip snorted, trying to act like a martyr.
"Tina, kill him!" Su Yu said coldly.
"Sure thing!" Tina streaked through the sky, a golden glow trailing behind her as she rapidly approached the earl. The sword in her hand shone like the sun, almost too bright to look at, as if she truly intended to slay him.
"Stop! Stop! Stop! I surrender! I surrender, okay?" Earl Philip quickly rolled off his horse and begged for mercy, bowing his head.
The guards beside him immediately followed suit, kneeling on the ground as Tina retracted her sword.
...
Seeing that the war was about to end with Su Yu's complete victory, Centurion Francis inside the city panicked!
This time, Earl Philip's attack on Su Yu's territory wasn't just his own idea; the Lord of Orleans, Claude, was secretly manipulating things from behind the scenes.
The four fifth-rank powerhouses pretending to be Philip's guards were actually support sent by Lord Claude.
Lord Claude had two goals:
1. Destroy Su Yu's territory.
2. Kill Tina Garcia.
But now, the bane of his plans, Su Yu, had called in reinforcements from the Scholar's Sanctuary, completely turning the tide.
Seeing both of his goals about to be thwarted, how could he not be anxious?
However, Francis suddenly remembered something:
When he left Orleans, the Lord had personally handed him a flare gun, instructing him to use it in times of crisis.
It was clearly a crisis now, so Francis quickly ordered his deputy to fetch the flare gun from the army's wagon.
Whoosh—Bang!
The flare gun was ignited, and the flare shot straight into the sky, exploding with a loud noise.
Because it was daytime, the people below didn't see the colorful display, but they were attracted by the explosion and looked over.
At the same moment the flare exploded, all the players in the city received a system announcement:
"Lord Claude Stray of Orleans City has personally led 3000 elite city guards into this war. Please prepare for defense."
"What? I didn't see that wrong! Another wave of attackers?"
"Lord of Orleans? That's a big shot!"
"The enemy has doubled in strength. Can Chief Ke still hold out this time?"
"No worries, Chief Ke definitely has an ace in the hole."
The players were buzzing with discussion.
...
At the western end of the road leading to Aupsi City, dust clouds billowed as the army led by the Lord could be seen approaching.
At the same time, nine small "black dots" appeared in the western sky.
These were nine powerhouses capable of flying at high altitudes.
Five of them were the ones who had fled earlier. The remaining four included Lord Claude of Orleans and three of his subordinates.
Claude had only eight fifth-rank powerhouses under his command, and he had brought all of them this time, determined to kill Tina Garcia and complete the task given to him by his superior.
The 3000 soldiers below were his most elite troops, and he was going all in!
...
Tina watched the rapidly approaching army with deep concern on her face. "Ke Star, what do we do? Lord Claude is a sixth-rank powerhouse, and none of us can match him."
Tina turned to look at the others behind her.
But to her surprise, Su Yu and the members of the Scholar's Sanctuary were not at all nervous.
This made her feel very puzzled. "What's going on? Aren't you worried?"
"Of course not, because we have reinforcements!" Su Yu smiled.
Su Yu sent a private message to Neon Nuclear Wastewater: "Wastewater, please have Lord Alex and Camilla come over."
