Chapter 206: Dobby's Warning
Chapter 206: Dobby's Warning
"Can you make other offensive magical items besides this one?" Lockhart couldn't help but ask.
But then Lockhart realized that this wasn't very dignified, so he cleared his throat and changed his tone.
"Of course, with my abilities, I don't really need these little gadgets. However, before coming to the school, I once fought a powerful Dark Wizard to protect a group of Centaurs. Despite defeating him with overwhelming force, I accidentally fell victim to his Curse. This Curse is extremely troublesome, making my spells unstable and often out of control."
As Lockhart spoke, he even began to believe his own story, his face showing a hint of determination, as if he had really fought a powerful Dark Wizard to protect a Centaur tribe.
He didn't forget to remind Ivan not to spread this news, so his fans wouldn't be too upset.
Ivan rolled his eyes in disbelief. Lockhart's ability to fabricate stories and his thick skin were beyond his imagination.
No wonder he could write so many bestsellers and make money.
This made Ivan even more determined to make a fortune from Lockhart.
With that in mind, Ivan solemnly said to Lockhart,
"Professor Lockhart, I deeply sympathize with your situation. I can create a set of magical items tailored to your needs, guaranteed to meet your requirements!"
"Of course, as long as you have enough Galleons", Ivan's lips curled into a smile.
Lockhart responded without hesitation,
"Money is never a problem."
After negotiating a custom-made item worth two thousand Galleons, Ivan left the hospital ward, feeling satisfied. Two thousand Galleons was no small sum. Apart from Dumbledore, who could use public funds, probably only Lockhart could easily come up with that much money in the entire Hogwarts.
The key was that once Lockhart got used to the power boost from these items, he would be unable to do without them.
At that point, just providing after-sales service would bring in a lot of Galleons.
With this in mind, Ivan returned to the dormitory and quickly wrote a letter, asking Doug to send him materials for making magical items, deducting the cost from the Wolfsbane Potion profits.
Just then, Ron, who had just returned from the playground, covered in dirt, saw Ivan and asked,
"Ivan, did you just come back from the hospital? How is Harry? Is he okay?"
"Harry's injuries have been treated by Madam Pomfrey, but he hasn't woken up yet. He'll probably have to stay overnight at the hospital", Ivan explained, tying the letter to Macka's leg and sending her off.
Ron relaxed a bit, but then angrily Cursed those damn Slytherins, convinced they were behind the whole thing!
Late at night, in the Hogwarts hospital, Harry looked at the small, ugly House-elf in front of him, trembling with anger.
"So it was you who sealed the barrier at the station, preventing me from catching the train! Do you know I almost got expelled because of that!"
"Dobby just wanted to protect you, sir!" Dobby shook his wrinkled head, showing Harry his ten bandaged fingers.
"Dobby had to burn his hands with an iron", Dobby said sadly.
"But Dobby doesn't care about that, sir. Dobby thought Harry Potter would be safe, but never dreamed that you would find another way to get to school!"
Dobby's eyes were brimming with tears, his large ears flapping as he looked at Harry with a pitiful expression, seemingly saddened by Harry's rejection of his good intentions.
"Harry Potter must leave this school immediately, right now! Something very terrible is about to happen", Dobby screamed.
"Enough! It's safe here", Harry picked up a pillow and threw it at Dobby, glaring at him angrily.
"Except for you! Except for you!"
"Dobby knew that the master wouldn't believe him, which is why he used the Bludgers and the Quaffle", Dobby didn't dodge, taking the hit without flinching. Although it didn't hurt, a tear still rolled down his cheek.
He looked like the misunderstood hero in a melodrama, always doing good deeds but never being understood.
But Harry felt no sympathy, only rage. He was so angry that he wanted to strangle the House-elf in front of him.
"So it was you who tampered with the Bludgers! Did you really want to kill me?" Harry's anger surged.
"Not to kill you, sir, how could you think that?" Dobby shook his head frantically, trembling with fear as he spoke.
"Dobby just wants to save your life! Even if you are seriously injured and sent home, it's better than staying here, sir. Dobby only hopes that Harry Potter will be slightly injured and sent home!"
Dobby's big, watery eyes were wide open, his hands clutching a sheet to cover his thin, ragged body, looking very pitiful.
"Why? Why do you want me to break my bones and be sent to the hospital just to leave Hogwarts? I guess you won't tell me, right?" Harry said sarcastically.
Harry couldn't understand Dobby's words. He claimed to be acting in Harry's best interest, yet he had nearly killed him twice.
This is what you call doing something for my own good?
"If Harry Potter knew what he means to us, the lowly, enslaved creatures, he wouldn't think that way", Dobby picked up the pillow Harry had thrown on the floor, more tears rolling down his cheeks. He began to tell Harry about the tragic history of house-elves.
Then Dobby tearfully thanked Harry for defeating the Dark Lord, as this had made life much better for house-elves.
Harry fell silent, not knowing what to say. But Dobby didn't stop speaking, continuing with great emotion.
"While Dobby was at home, he overheard his master say that he sold that thing to a young wizard at Hogwarts! It was something the Dark Lord left for his master, and it is very, very evil."
As Dobby spoke, he froze, quickly realizing he had said too much. He then grabbed Harry's water jug from the bedside table and started banging it against his own head.
"Bad Dobby, bad Dobby, bad Dobby!" he said, hitting himself repeatedly.
The sound of the jug hitting Dobby's head was sharp and clear. Just hearing it made Harry wince in pain.
Hearing Dobby mention the Dark Lord, Harry realized the severity of the situation. He grabbed Dobby's arm to stop his self-harm and asked urgently.
"Tell me, what is that thing? Who did your master sell it to? How do you know they brought it to the school?"
