Chapter 205: Visiting Alan
Chapter 205: Visiting Alan
"Hey, I have something exciting planned for our break. Are you up for it?"
As she inspected the fusion of the three metal pieces after the smelt, Nali nodded and casually spoke up.
Hearing this, Wang Si turned his head slightly and, seeing Nali's reluctance to elaborate, responded with a pout, no longer paying her any mind.
"Hey, you little rascal. If you're not going to willingly tell me, don't expect me to take the initiative to ask."
In an instant, Nali transformed from her loli form into a mature, domineering young lady, forcefully pinning Wang Si beneath her on the forging table.
"Fine, fine, Li Jie. You know I can't refuse you. What is it?"
Nali merely smiled gently.
"I plan to take you to the Holy Spirit Church's headquarters and show you what it's like."
At her words, Wang Si's lips twitched involuntarily.
"Then forget it. I don't want to go."
Hearing this, Nali lightly tapped Wang Si on his head, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Didn't you say you wouldn't refuse me? What happened to your word, Mr. Man?"
Wang Si simply caught hold of Nali's hand, caressing it gently as he closed his eyes in resignation.
Nali didn't interrupt him. She understood that the young man was under a lot of pressure and that it was normal for him to be questioning his life choices. She decided to give him some space to process his thoughts.
Of course, the idea of taking Wang Si to the Holy Spirit Church's headquarters was a ruse. With his unique body, he would likely end up being sliced into pieces for research by some of the more curious members of the Holy Spirit Church.
And as for his reputation as a genius blacksmith, the Holy Spirit Church couldn't afford to keep someone like him around.
Aside from the enormous cost of the metal he used for practice and his daily meals, only Shrek Academy could provide for him without any concerns.
It was better to let him drain Shrek's resources than the Holy Spirit Church's, and that was why the Church had temporarily refrained from causing any trouble for the academy.
After all, they had just received two God-slaying missiles from the academy, and not long ago, the Devil Emperor had contacted her specifically about this matter.
The fact that the Four Heavenly Kings had infiltrated Shrek Academy was explosive news to any power.
Thanks to her successful infiltration, the Holy Spirit Church had decided to hold off on their plans to destroy the academy.
Naturally, the person who had helped them obtain the missiles was anxious and worried about the consequences.
After all, it seemed that the ancient family's pillar, the Spirit Transmission Tower, was about to collapse...
...
During this rare leisure time, Ye Xinglan thought of her good friend, Alan.
She knew Alan's status and position in the Inner Court, and how Alan had stood up for her in the past, only to be pinned to the wall by Wang Si.
Now that their situations had reversed, Ye Xinglan wasn't sure how to face her.
"Alan, are you home?"
Ye Xinglan knocked gently on the door of Alan's room in the Inner Court.
The two of them had been in contact and planned to meet.
"It's you, Xinglan. Come in, I've been waiting for you."
Alan's gentle voice came from behind the door, causing Ye Xinglan's heart to skip a beat.
As she pushed open the door, she saw Alan sitting on the sofa, reading a book. Upon seeing Ye Xinglan, a happy smile lit up her face.
"It's been a while. I heard you're doing well out there. I know the Outer Court isn't as good as the Inner Court... I didn't dare to contact you after you left because I was afraid you'd think..."
Alan's words trailed off as she saw Ye Xinglan, and she became tongue-tied.
But soon, she regained her composure.
"Earlier, you said you had something mysterious to tell me. What was it?"
Ye Xinglan stood awkwardly in the doorway, stammering.
"Did something happen? You look uncomfortable," Alan said, noticing Ye Xinglan's unease.
Ye Xinglan nodded, setting down the gift she had brought and remaining awkwardly poised.
Understanding her friend's discomfort, Alan quickly prepared a cup of calming tea for her.
"Thank you, Alan," Ye Xinglan said softly. Seeing her friend so flustered, Alan furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Xinglan, what's wrong? Have I done something to upset you?" Alan asked, concerned.
Ye Xinglan's face flushed, and she finally blurted out the words that had been weighing on her mind.
"It's about Wang Si. Do you remember him?"
At the mention of that name, Alan paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing. "Of course, I remember. We confronted him together, but we couldn't beat him. It was so frustrating," she said through gritted teeth, her anger towards Wang Si still simmering.
Noticing that Alan didn't bring up the incident where Wang Si had pinned her to the wall, Ye Xinglan felt even more conflicted. "Alan, do you know what's been happening with him lately?" she asked cautiously.
Hearing Ye Xinglan's concern, Alan scoffed. "Why would I care about that jerk? He's not worth my time." But then, as if realizing something, she continued, "Wait, has he been bothering you? Tell me, and I'll teach him a lesson right now!" Alan said, reaching for her soul communicator.
Ye Xinglan quickly stopped her, feeling embarrassed as she turned away.
"Xinglan, whatever it is, just tell me. We're best friends, remember? There's nothing you can't say to me," Alan assured her.
Ye Xinglan nodded slightly, still fiddling with her teacup. "Well, he's been very popular in the Outer Court lately," she said softly. "Because of his ability to perform spirit forging and create One-Word Battle Armors, a lot of the outer court students admire him."
Alan waved her hand dismissively. "So what? Those students have narrow-minded and shallow ambitions. A One-Word Battle Armor is nothing to get worked up about. Xinglan, I hope you're not impressed by that either..."
