Chapter 205: The Extinction of a Clan
Chapter 205: The Extinction of a Clan
Louis, like the others, was an elder of the four great families, having lived for over a hundred years. However, unlike the rest, he had consumed an elixir of youth in his younger days and maintained a middle-aged appearance.
With a gentle demeanor and soft eyes, he exuded sincerity in both his words and actions.
"Mr. Cannon!" Louis said with a slight bow and a soft laugh.
"Your name has been on everyone's lips in the Dream Marketplace this past year. It's a shame I'm only meeting you now."
"You're truly a young prodigy!"
As he spoke, his gaze momentarily rested on Karl and Nina.
The Dream Marketplace had undergone significant changes in the past year. The Perro family, known for their formidable strength, had suddenly launched an attack on the Walker family, utilizing the power of the Six-Ring High Tower to swiftly eliminate the Walker family's patriarch.
The remaining members of the Walker family quietly gathered their strength and, against all odds, managed to turn the tables.
However, after this incident, both the Perro and Walker families suffered heavy losses, inadvertently benefiting the other two great families.
Speaking of which...
Among the four great families, the Perro and Walker families were the strongest, but now the situation had suddenly reversed, becoming a laughing matter of sorts.
'Nina, despite her young age, is already a Late First-Ring Wizard, and this Cannon fellow has also killed a Late First-Ring Wizard. If what Nina said about them secretly pledging their lives to each other is true...'
'The Walker family still possesses two Dream Fragments, and they might truly establish themselves in the marketplace, perhaps even surpassing the Perro family to become the most powerful force.'
'This is troublesome!'
Even though they were temporary partners, Louis still didn't want to see the Walker family grow stronger.
Karl was unaware that during his absence, Nina had tied him up, and he couldn't have imagined the calculations in others' minds.
The three of them arrived at the Perro family's old residence, which was mostly in ruins, except for the buildings near the Wizard Tower, which were relatively intact.
"Hmm..."
Karl squinted, examining the scene for a moment, and then his eyes widened in realization.
"No wonder they weren't driven out."
In the Dream Marketplace, no one was allowed to take action unless they possessed Dream Fragments.
The Perro family, having lost their fragment, theoretically had no means to fight back.
But now...
The fact that they still occupied a Wizard Tower spoke volumes.
"That's right!"
Louis nodded and explained, "Over the past hundred years, the Perro family has modified their Wizard Tower using the Dream Fragment."
"This Wizard Tower can be considered a Dream Fragment, allowing limited action within the marketplace."
"That's right," Nina narrowed her eyes, a hint of indignation in her voice. "But if we were to forcefully take action and drive out or even kill the Perro family, it wouldn't be difficult."
Louis smiled but remained silent.
The three great families were not of one mind, and forcefully breaking into a Wizard Tower would come at a cost. Who would bear that cost?
No one was willing to take the lead, and the situation became a stalemate, giving the Perro family a chance to catch their breath.
This situation couldn't last forever.
"I'll take care of this!" Louis stepped forward, lightly tapping his massive staff on the ground.
"Barrett, come out and have a chat."
His voice wasn't loud, but it was crystal clear as it echoed through the Wizard Tower, reaching the ears of the Perro family members inside.
"You must be aware that this situation is unsustainable," Louis continued. "Don't you want to leave a way out for the Perro family?"
"Come out and talk. I can guarantee that we won't wipe you out."
Nina's beautiful eyes narrowed, and a hint of murderous intent appeared on her face, but she merely hummed in response, not objecting.
The sound of footsteps crunching over gravel and debris accompanied a middle-aged man with a sharp nose and monkey-like features as he emerged from the Wizard Tower.
"Senior Louis!"
"Haha..." Louis laughed heartily.
"Barrett, your aunts married into our Allen family, and your lineage is what my aunt left behind. So, we're relatives; there's no need to be so distant."
Barrett forced a smile.
The four great families had intermarried for over a century, but when it came to taking action, they didn't hold back.
As Barrett's gaze passed over Nina, a hint of fear flashed in his eyes. This was the woman who had vowed to exterminate the Perro clan.
"After all this time, you should understand the situation," Louis said, pausing with his staff in hand. "The Dream Marketplace no longer has room for the Perro family. Take your people and leave, far away, and never come back."
Barrett looked up, his expression one of surprise.
"Rest assured!"
Louis sighed lightly, "I swear on the family's name, "I'll let you leave. After all, your branch is closely related to me."
"But..."
His voice turned solemn, "Only your branch can leave. The others can't go!"
Barrett's heart raced as he glanced at Nina and Karl, unsure if they agreed with this decision.
"Hmph!"
Nina coldly hummed, clearly displeased.
She wanted to annihilate the entire Perro clan, not letting a single one off the hook.
Karl, on the other hand, didn't care. He only wanted to acquire the Perro family's resources, and quickly.
"Don't worry."
Louis glanced at Nina and spoke in a solemn tone, "I can guarantee that no one will make a move on your way out of the Dream Market. Otherwise, they'll be making an enemy of the Allen family!"
"No exceptions!"
"Louis!" Nina roared, "Who gave you the authority to make this decision? I disagree! The three of us together can break into the Wizard Tower!"
"Three late-stage First-Ring Wizards indeed have the potential to do so." Louis nodded and continued, "But..."
"We'll have to pay a price. I'm not willing to pay that price, or is Mr. Cannon willing?"
Nina hesitated.

"With Barrett's branch gone, there won't be many people left in the Wizard Tower. It'll be an easy takeover."
Louis continued, "Isn't this a good idea?"
"Sure!" Karl, who had been silent, slowly nodded:
"We'll leave before dawn."
"Before dawn?" Louis looked up at the sky and then signaled to Barrett with his eyes:
"Time's running out. Go and prepare."
"Or do you plan to stay and face three late-stage First-Ring Wizards alone? Don't blame me if I don't hold back!"
As Barrett left, Louis's smile faded, and he silently nodded towards Nina.
Nina's face turned into a cold smirk.
Leave?
The moment Barrett's branch stepped out of the Dream Market, it marked the beginning of their branch's downfall.
Trust?
In Louis and Nina's eyes, it was worthless. Before Karl arrived, the two had already plotted to deceive Barrett's branch into leaving the Wizard Tower and then strike.
Evelyn held her one-year-old child, gazing at the bright moon through the window of the Wizard Tower.
A chill crept up her spine.
"Wah..."
The baby's cries echoed from her embrace.
"Don't cry... Baby, don't cry... Mommy's here..."
Rocking the child gently, Evelyn whispered comforting words while keeping an eye on the distant commotion.
"Second Sister!"
A young man quietly rushed up the stairs and spoke in a hushed tone, "I just saw Jeffrey and the others gathering, heading towards the back residence. They seem to be planning something."
"Planning?" Evelyn shook her head lightly, "What's there to plan at this point?"
"If the three major families don't unite, it's our chance. As long as we stand together, they won't dare to make a move easily."
"But..." The young man hesitated, his eyes filled with anxiety, "This isn't a solution. What if the three families launch a united attack? We can't hold them off!"
"That's impossible." Evelyn shook her head, "Louis is as cunning as a fox, and Nina's blinded by her thirst for revenge. Cormac only cares about his own interests..."
"They won't unite."
"If they do, we can only accept our fate."
"Second Sister's right." The young man breathed a sigh of relief:
"But with the three families outside, even our basic needs are at stake. When will this end?"
Evelyn's eyebrows furrowed, "We need to surrender to one of the families to survive. But we must ensure they won't turn on us."
"Cormac values his interests, so he's the best choice."
Louis was indeed cunning, appearing gentle and honest on the surface but hiding a different side beneath.
Evelyn was well aware of this.
As for Nina...
She only wanted the Perro family wiped out!
"Thump, thump, thump..."
"Bad news!"
"Barrett and his men have sneaked out!"
Evelyn's body trembled, her face turning deathly pale.
"You fool!"
"Rascal!"
She roared, causing the infant in her arms to wail uncontrollably, and her body went limp, collapsing to the ground.
It was over!
Everything was over!
