Chapter 205: Hermione's Intuition
Chapter 205: Hermione's Intuition
"This is truly astonishing."
As Kyle looked at Hagrid, who was demanding to be discharged from the hospital, Madam Pomfrey shot him a surprised glance.
She had only asked Kyle to help persuade Hagrid to cheer up, but she never expected him to recover to this extent.
It was just a matter of preparing a potion, and Hagrid, who was previously on the brink of death, was now clamoring to be discharged!
This effect seemed a bit too good to be true...
"Poppy, is it possible?" Hagrid asked again when she didn't respond. "The Forbidden Forest needs someone to guard it, and I need to get back there as soon as possible."
"You can be discharged, but I'll need to perform one more checkup," Madam Pomfrey said firmly.
Her attitude was resolute.
Although she knew that the potion sent by Dumbledore had excellent effects, and with Hagrid's physique, there wouldn't be any issues even if he were discharged now, but the checkup was still necessary.
This was a standard procedure, and everyone had to go through it.
She put down the large wooden barrel in her hand and turned to prepare other things.
"You might not believe me, but I've always been afraid of her," Hagrid said softly. "It's been like this for over a decade. Every time I come here, my legs start shaking, and I can't control them."
"I understand..." Kyle said with a smile.
When he was younger, he helped Newt feed magical creatures potions, and they were afraid too.
Even now, after several years, a Bowtail Dog would still tuck its tail and run away at the sight of him.
Madam Pomfrey's checkup was straightforward and completed quickly.
By the time they left the hospital wing, it was almost noon.
Kyle invited Hagrid to have lunch in the Great Hall, but Hagrid declined.
"I need to go back and check on Fang," he said. "After such a long time apart, Fang must be worried sick."
After bidding farewell in the courtyard, Kyle returned to the castle.
This time, upon his return, the topic among the young wizards shifted from previous speculations to Quidditch.
Due to yesterday's events, Ravenclaw and Slytherin needed to replay their match today.
However, what Kyle didn't expect was that by the time he visited Hagrid, the match had already ended.
"Damn it! Weren't they supposed to reschedule the rematch for the afternoon?" Kyle was stunned. If he had known this, he... Well, even if he had known, he would have still visited Hagrid first.
"Kyle, did you see Hagrid?"
At that moment, Harry suddenly rushed over, accompanied by Hermione and Ron.
"We just went to look for him, but Professor Sprout was there instead," Harry said.
"It's terrible..." Ron grimaced. "She scolded us and sent us away."
"You must know what happened. Can you tell us?" Hermione pushed Ron aside and looked at Kyle seriously.
"Why do you say that?" Kyle asked.
"Because I found out that you didn't go to watch the Quidditch match," Hermione said, raising her head. "Harry told me that as a team member, you wouldn't miss any match.
Since you didn't go, it means there must be something more important to attend to."
"I think... it's probably related to what happened yesterday, and it involves Hagrid!"
Kyle clicked his tongue, admitting that Hermione was indeed very smart, and her speculation was very close to the truth.
Looking at the other two...
Harry could only nod continuously, while Ron stood there, completely bewildered... as if he hadn't understood a word.
Was the gap between them too wide? How did these three become friends in the first place...
"Hagrid, he..."
"He's fine. You're overthinking it."
"Kyle interrupted Hermione, saying, "Actually, I thought the match was in the afternoon, which is why I didn't go. And Hagrid and I were at the Hospital Wing all morning... helping Madam Pomfrey with a small task. Professor Sprout was just temporarily looking after the Forbidden Forest in his place."
"That's not right... if anyone was helping, it should've been Filch," Hermione said, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. "How could a professor have time to look after the Forbidden Forest? And Professor Sprout is the Head of Hufflepuff, she must be even busier."
"I don't know about that. Maybe he just happened to pass by and helped out for a bit," Kyle shrugged.
"Or you can ask Hagrid yourself. He should be back at his hut by now," Kyle suggested, shrugging his shoulders.
Well, sometimes being too smart is indeed annoying.
It's much easier with Harry and Ron; they believe whatever they're told, and that's that.

"Hagrid is back?" Hermione was surprised... this wasn't what she had expected.
She had thought Hagrid went to the Hospital Wing because he was injured, but if that was the case, Madam Pomfrey wouldn't have let him return so soon.
"Yeah, he just got back," Kyle nodded. "By the way, how was the match?"
"Ravenclaw won!" Harry's eyes lit up as he spoke, "Their Seeker was amazing. She caught the Golden Snitch when Ravenclaw was a hundred points behind!"
"It's a shame you weren't there," Ron exclaimed. "Slytherin's expressions were so funny. They lost to the weakest team, and Malfoy's face turned green."
"Yeah, I can imagine," Kyle said with a smile.
After a few more words, Harry pulled Ron away from the castle to find Hagrid.
But Hermione didn't follow; instead, she continued to trail behind Kyle, examining him with a peculiar look.
"Aren't you worried that Hagrid might let something slip?" Hermione asked suddenly.
She had a feeling that Kyle wasn't being entirely truthful earlier.
"What's there to worry about... we really were just helping out," Kyle shrugged nonchalantly.
He just needed to ensure that things went smoothly on his end; what happened with Hagrid wasn't his concern.
Besides, he couldn't keep Harry from seeking out Hagrid forever.
Hermione furrowed her brows, continuing to stare at him.
"Harry and Ron have been gone for so long, aren't you going to go too?"
Kyle felt uncomfortable under Hermione's gaze, so to hurry her along, he reached into his pocket and took out a stack of Chocolate Frog cards, offering them to her.
"By the way, to thank Harry for telling me the match results, you can help me by giving these to him. I remember he's collecting the cards."
Just as Hermione was about to say something, she noticed a line of text on the outermost card.
"With partner Niccolme, effective in Alchemy!"
Niccolme... Alchemy...
"I know! I know who Niccolme is!" Hermione exclaimed, jumping up and running upstairs towards the Gryffindor Common Room.
Kyle stood there, looking at the stack of cards in his hand that he hadn't given away, and then put them back into his pocket.
Thanks to Dumbledore, at least Hermione was finally gone.
