Chapter 204: Wang Si's Intentions
Chapter 204: Wang Si's Intentions
After disembarking from the car, the group boarded a luxurious private cabin on the Soul Guide Express, which had been reserved specifically for their party of eight.
They were likely the first first-year students from Shrek Academy to embark on this journey. However, an awkward silence filled the air as an unexpected outsider, their teacher, had joined their originally seven-person trip.
Accustomed to being in larger groups, the students struggled to adjust to the presence of their instructor, but a certain someone seemed unfazed by their unease.
Ye Xinglan scanned the group, then turned to Liu Yue, who had more combat experience than the rest, before finally approaching Wang Si. Tentatively, she spoke, "In the next few days, we'll be traveling through ten cities, and each of us needs to challenge a Soul Master whose level is five levels higher than ours. It won't be easy to find Soul Masters who meet this requirement."
Finding opponents for the others wasn't a problem, but for Wu Si Duo, who possessed a soul power level of only forty, challenging someone five levels higher would mean facing an opponent far beyond her age group, making her battle exceedingly difficult due to her youth and lack of combat experience.
"It's just a few Soul Masters; don't worry. As soon as I found out about Shrek's final exam, I made the necessary arrangements.
On our way to the other cities, we can stop by the advanced Soul Master academies along the route and issue challenges.
There are sure to be suitable Soul Masters at those academies, and they shouldn't refuse us.
Of course, if you have any better ideas, feel free to share them, and we can consider other options." Wang Si explained his plan to the group.
"The purpose of this exam is to test your ability to navigate social complexities and survive independently in society, as well as to gain real-world experience.
Challenging other academies directly may be taking a shortcut, and I don't recommend it. You might not earn a very high score that way." Liu Yue, who had undergone a similar assessment in the past, offered a quiet reminder.
In response to Liu Yue's comment, Wang Si merely glanced at her and turned his wrist slightly.
Liu Yue let out a muffled hum and could only squirm in Wang Si's arms like a silkworm.
"When we're out and about, our top priority is to ensure our safety, and then we can worry about those so-called scores," Wang Si said.
"It's just the final exam. What danger could there be?" Liu Yue thought to herself.
Hearing this, Wang Si turned his head slightly and held Liu Yue's chin, exasperated. "Must you be so stubborn? What's the point of arguing with me?"
Not giving Liu Yue a chance to retort, Wang Si pushed her head down, and strange noises suddenly filled the cabin.
The others closed their eyes in tacit understanding and began to meditate.
Ye Xinglan wanted to meditate as well, but she couldn't ignore the hand that was resting on her.
With Wang Si's arm around her, Ye Xinglan's face flushed as she leaned on his shoulder, her mind wandering.
Why was he so different towards her? It seemed like he had always been helping her. Was she special to him in some way? What set her apart from the others that made him invest so much time and energy in her?
As these thoughts raced through her mind, Ye Xinglan's body trembled involuntarily, and she held onto Wang Si's arm even tighter.
...
With Liu Yue, a teacher from the academy, joining them, the group had expected the journey to be quite different.
For their assessment, they only needed to complete ten battles in the span of fifteen days.
But upon learning that their scores might be a little lacking, the group decided to visit a few more academies.
In just eight days, they managed to attain a rather impressive score.
For the remaining seven days, the group chose to go shopping instead of seeking out more battles.
What else could a group of women and one man do during the day but shop till they dropped?
They had heard that men tended to tire easily when it came to shopping, so they were determined to wear him out so that they could all get a good night's sleep.
As it turned out, that was just a rumor...
For Wang Si, the only truly exhausting activities were those that taxed his mental and spiritual energy, like forging.
And so, on the tenth day, after their shopping spree, the group dragged Wang Si onto the Soul Guide Express.
As one of the first groups to return to the academy, they undoubtedly earned extra points for their timely return.
After much discussion, the girls decided to send Wang Si, along with Nali, who always seemed amenable and unaffected by their antics, to the forging room.
Sacrificing Nali meant the rest of them could relax for the entire day. Perhaps it was a bit unfair, but what could they do? Nali was the greediest among them, followed by Na'er, Wusidu, Yuan'enyu Hui, Leng Dong'er, and Ye Xinglan.
Sometimes they wondered why Nali and Na'er, who weren't the strongest in the group, always seemed to have the biggest appetites.
......
In the empty forging room, Nali, in her loli form, hung from Wang Si's waist as he worked.
"I really don't get you. You're just a little Soul Ancestor, yet you have so much stamina. If I hadn't seen your forging skills improving day by day, I would've considered restricting you for a while."
Wang Si casually spoke as he began the preliminary work for the spiritual forging of two metal pieces.
"What's the holdup with the Holy Spirit Church's plan to blow up Shrek Academy? Are they waiting for the academy to go on break before they make their move?"
Wang Si was getting impatient. He couldn't stand staying at Shrek any longer. He wanted to blow up the academy and move the plot along.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Do you have a grudge against Shrek? I'm not aware of any such thing. You keep thinking about blowing up Shrek day and night.
I haven't even touched the Golden Tree behind Shrek yet, nor have I explored the inner court. Why are you in such a rush to blow it up? Look at you, all worked up." Nali teased.
Wang Si didn't say anything in response; he simply continued his forging. Nali quietly hung there, comfortably half-lidded.
After a round of forging, Wang Si picked up the scorching metal, and Nali used a fusion detector to inspect it before nodding in satisfaction.
"The fusion rate is over ninety percent. This warm-up session wasn't too bad."
Nali gave a simple evaluation before jumping down from Wang Si's body. Before taking her rest, she tightened someone's belt.
Looking at the man who was silently working away, Nali stroked her chin.
This guy...seemed a bit distracted...
