Chapter 204: Wait Until I Think It Through Before Waking Up
Chapter 204: Wait Until I Think It Through Before Waking Up
"Everyone stop! If you don't stop, I'll have to take action!" Lockhart, feeling his dignity greatly damaged, waved his wand and shouted loudly after narrowly avoiding a curse that seemed to come from nowhere.
"Immobulus (Total Stasis!)"
Lockhart tried to use the Petrificus Totalus to restore his dignity as a professor. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. After loudly casting the spell, Lockhart only saw his wand tip emit a series of beautiful fireworks, and then nothing happened.
Lockhart was about to say something to cover up his embarrassment when a round, irregular object hit the back of his head and exploded, drenching him in a sticky, foul-smelling liquid.
The stench almost made Lockhart pass out.
"Who did that?" Lockhart turned around, furious, intending to see which rascal had thrown it. But more dung bombs were flying towards him.
Lockhart, hoping for the best, cast a shielding charm to block the dung bombs. However, his spell went awry again, turning into a powerful explosive spell that caused the dung bombs to explode mid-air, raining down a shower of yellow, pungent liquid.
Lockhart quickly took off his coat and covered his head, fleeing the battlefield as fast as possible to avoid further contamination.
During his escape, Lockhart saw Ivan standing in the center of the battlefield, enduring multiple spells and still managing to counterattack. The faintly glowing ring on Ivan's right hand caught Lockhart's attention.
"Petrificus Totalus! Protego!" Ivan, unaware that Lockhart was watching him, petrified a Slytherin who was casting a spell at him and then quickly cast Protego on himself.
His Protective Ring, after blocking multiple spells, was temporarily out of commission.
Ivan, witnessing this unprecedented school-wide brawl, was unsure how to stop it. A group of young wizards fighting was already chaotic enough, but the joke items Fred had sold only made the situation worse.
Someone had set off several Bang Fireworks, which were now darting around, causing even more chaos with their explosions and sparks.
As the conflict escalated, a few older students even began preparing lethal spells.
To prevent the situation from spiraling out of control and causing irreparable damage, Ivan reluctantly decided to clear the area on a large scale.
Reinforcing his armor charm with magic, Ivan charged into the Slytherin ranks like a tiger among wolves.
In the next instant, Ivan activated the Power Ring on his left wrist, and a powerful magical pulse radiated out from his body.
The numerous spells aimed at Ivan dissipated before they could reach him, and over a dozen young Slytherin wizards were sent flying.
This was even after Ivan had controlled the power.
With Ivan's full force, the already dominant Gryffindor young wizards quickly overwhelmed their opponents. In just two minutes, not a single standing Slytherin remained on the field.
Just as George and the others were celebrating their victory, Professor Mcgonagall's voice, laced with restrained anger, rang out behind them.
"Who can tell me what exactly happened here?"
Mcgonagall, having been alerted, saw a kaleidoscope of spell lights before she even entered the pitch. When she got closer, she realized the situation was even worse than she had imagined.
The ground was littered with groaning young Slytherin wizards, most of whom had been hit by nasty curses. A few particularly unlucky ones had been hit in the face with dungbombs and had been knocked out by the stench.
Professor Mcgonagall was so angry that she was shaking. She waved her wand to remove the various curses from the Slytherins, then turned to look at the trembling Wood and the others, pausing for a moment on Ivan.
In Mcgonagall's view, the number of Slytherins on the pitch was actually greater than that of the Gryffindors, yet they had been beaten so badly. It was clear that Ivan had taken action.
"Professor Mcgonagall, it happened like this", Ivan stepped forward, not trying to hide anything. He explained how Harry had been attacked and how everyone suspected the Slytherins of tampering with the game.
After all, with so many people around, it was impossible to keep it a secret. It was better to tell the truth.
After explaining the cause, Ivan paused and continued.
"In short, some conflicts arose because of this. I was worried that someone might lose control of their spells and cause injuries, so I stepped in to stop the chaos."
So this is how you stop chaos? Professor Mcgonagall looked at the Slytherins who had just climbed off the ground, feeling a bit dazed.
Ivan nodded obediently. If he had beaten everyone to the ground, then there wouldn't be any more fighting, right?
Professor Mcgonagall glared at him and then turned to Wood and the others, scolding them.
"You have truly disappointed me. Since I started teaching, Hogwarts has never seen such a terrible incident!"
"Because of your brawl on the pitch, Gryffindor will lose two hundred House Points!" Professor Mcgonagall said coldly.
Two hundred points? That's too harsh!
Gryffindor didn't even have two hundred points to lose.
Ivan was speechless, and George quickly interjected, "Professor, it was those Slytherins who tampered with the Quidditch match first!"
"Enough!" Professor Mcgonagall interrupted.
"Madam Hooch mentioned this to me when she informed me of the situation.
She clearly told me that a powerful Confundus Charm had been placed on one of the Bludgers. To my knowledge, only a very few young wizards in the entire school could manage such a feat!"
Professor Mcgonagall had intended to be more absolute, but as her gaze fell on Ivan, she changed her words.
If Ivan knew the Confundus Charm and was as skilled at it as he was at Transfiguration, he could have placed the appropriate spell on the Bludger.
However, Ivan was a Gryffindor and was on good terms with Harry, so it was clearly impossible for him to have done it.
"Where is your Professor Lockhart?" Mcgonagall suddenly remembered something and looked around.
If she remembered correctly, Hooch had said that Lockhart was on the pitch today. Why hadn't he stopped such a terrible incident?
"Professor Lockhart is over there", Ivan pointed to the right side of the pitch with a sigh.
Professor Mcgonagall followed his gaze and saw Lockhart lying on the grass, covering his head with his brightly colored coat. It looked as if he had fainted.
In fact, Lockhart was just pretending to be unconscious. He had not yet figured out how to explain his inability to prevent the conflict between the two houses.
He would wake up when he had a plan.
