Chapter 204: Self-Detonation
Just as Stuffed Bun lunged toward him, Wagner remained utterly unresponsive—instead, he let out a chilling, maniacal cackle.
"Hahaha! Hahahaha!"
"Finally... I've found it. The perfect Experiment!"
The face that emerged from beneath the cloak—covered in pale, peeling White Scales, twisted and utterly inhuman—was more grotesque than any nightmare. Wagner slowly raised a trembling hand. In his clouded eyes, a faint crimson Spell Light flickered, and a surge of raw Strength pulsed from his fingertip, shooting toward the target.
【Mind Control】
The young dragon form of Stuffed Bun froze mid-air, paralyzed by the overwhelming psychic force. Though empowered with the strength of a Red Dragon, he was still just a hatchling—no larger than a horse. He lacked the power to resist such a potent spell, and now writhed helplessly in the air, his throat spewing forth flames and furious curses.
"Old bastard! When I get out of this, I’ll sew your mouth shut with a needle!"
"Damn you—!"
Wagner didn’t flinch. He didn’t even seem to hear. His gaze was fixed on the dragon’s body—not on Stuffed Bun himself, but on the flawless vessel that now housed his perfected Dragon Bloodline. The sight intoxicated him. He was lost in ecstasy.
"Since my awakening… over a hundred years have passed. Thirty-six thousand seven hundred and fourteen experiments."
"And never… have I created anything so perfect."
"This is the will of the world. He… he will grant me the greatest Evolution!"
Wagner’s voice trembled, as though he were a zealot witnessing a divine miracle. His eyes burned with greed—hunger to tear apart, to consume, to devour every last bone and drop of essence from the creature before him.
"Come now, little one… fight back."
"Look at this strength—so powerful, so true to the Dragon’s nature."
"I will uncover your secrets… and turn you into the nourishment for my glorious Evolution."
Stuffed Bun felt the weight of Wagner’s gaze like a physical blow. His fur stood on end. For the first time, he understood what Langli BaiTiao had endured—the sickening, soul-chilling sensation of being seen by a pure, ancient madman.
From afar, Singo called out:
"Stuffed Bun! Don’t forget what I gave you!"
That’s when it hit him. He still had the Runeforged Experience Points Explosive Bomb.
And now—Wagner, utterly confident in his victory, stood utterly exposed before him.
This is my chance.
Stuffed Bun gritted his teeth, twisted mid-air, and pulled the device from his side. With a wild, desperate shout, he screamed:
"Damn it—no more holding back! Let’s blow this bastard to hell!"
"RUA! Activate Backup Hidden Power Source!"
"No—!" Wagner finally sensed the danger.
But it was too late.
Stuffed Bun triggered the bomb.
A flurry of strange, jagged metal spheres erupted to life, their runes blazing with blinding light. Then—BOOM.
A deafening detonation tore through the air. A massive fireball exploded in midair, engulfing Stuffed Bun, Wagner, and the dog-like fiend alike. The searing blast wave swallowed them whole, hurling debris and smoke into the sky, shrouding half the Experiment Chamber in a swirling, choking cloud.
The smoke slowly cleared.
The ground was a cratered wasteland. Had the reinforced floor not been built specifically to contain dragons, the blast might have punched through the entire Tall Tower, collapsing the lower levels beneath.
Stuffed Bun’s young dragon form was reduced to shattered remains, sprawled among the rubble.
The dog demon, caught in the epicenter, was now nothing but a charred, molten mass of meat.
But the Black Robe figure still stood—unmoved, hovering above the wreckage. Around him, a shimmering, spherical shield of Arcane Radiance pulsed—his signature high-tier Mage defense: a constant 【Trigger Spell】 chained to 【Otruk Elastic Force Sphere】. It was like having an extra life. Most ambushes couldn’t touch him.
"Not bad, Mageboss," Singo muttered, staring at the undamaged figure. "You’re not so easy to kill after all."
But Wagner’s face—once triumphant—was now contorted in fury. His eyes burned crimson, veins bulged across his forehead, his entire being trembling with rage.
"Damn it! Why did you resist? I need a living Experiment!"
"I will find your secrets! I will!"
"No… no, there’s still hope. You have companions. If I capture them—"
He whirled around, raising a hand to cast a spell to snatch the two players.
But what he saw made his blood freeze.
There, in the arms of each Player, were Runeforged Experience Points Explosive Bombs—already activated, their timers blinking furiously with a sharp, relentless beep-beep-beep.
Singo grinned wide, teeth bared.
"Feel the blast, old bastard!"
"We’re treating you to a fireworks show!"
Wagner’s finger snapped forward—a thin green beam shot from his palm.
"Stop it! Stop!"
It was a Sixth Circle Spell—【Dissolution Spell】—capable of disintegrating even the most solid inorganic matter into dust. If it struck the bomb, it would vanish instantly.
But it was too late.
The moment the beam launched, the two Players vanished in a blinding flash—exploding into ash along with the bombs, leaving no trace, no chance, no escape. The blast wave even vaporized the surrounding Experimental Equipment.
"Damn you… Damned scum."
Wagner collapsed to his knees, his Black Robe trembling violently. His entire body shook as he sank into madness.
"Roar—!"
From far away, a deep, agonized roar echoed through the chamber.
The White Dragon—bound and chained for a century—was struggling violently. The shackles, weakened by the chain reactions of the explosions, had loosened slightly.
The three consecutive self-destructs had shattered part of Wagner’s Dragon Binding Array. And for the first time in over a hundred years, the beast seized its chance.
With every ounce of strength, it strained against the runes, desperate to break free.
Wagner’s face turned ashen. His eyes, once cold and calculating, now burned with unbridled fury. He pounded the ground with both fists, the sound like distant thunder.
"Tiniya… even you… are turning against me?"
"Why? Why won’t any of you give yourselves to my great Evolution?"
"Catherine did not. Valina did not. Those intruders—none of them. And now you?"
After his outburst, Wagner’s expression softened—became eerily calm. Slowly, he rose to his feet, his gaze fixed on the White Dragon, trapped and fighting like a caged beast.
"Looks like you need a little… punishment."
With a delicate gesture, he raised his hand.
From the ground, countless grotesque, broken limbs—twisted, scaled, half-melted—rose like vengeful specters, their bones clawing at the air.
"Aaaarrrrgh—!"
Far beyond the mountains, the wind howled through the Karka Range. Snow fell like ash from a dying sky. The peaks, buried beneath endless white, stood silent—except for one.
At the heart of the storm, deep within the shadowed heart of the world, the black, towering spire known as the Tower of Eternal Night echoed with a fresh, bloodcurdling scream. It rang out again and again—long, mournful, endless.
If any traveler had passed by, they would have sworn they’d heard the voice of the damned.
...The last few chapters were a bit slow. It’s over now. Things are picking up.
