Chapter 204: Prepare the Banquet!
Chapter 204: Prepare the Banquet!
Using the ingredients from the kitchen, Merica cooked over thirty dishes for Sag. As he ate, he waited for Bellamy and the others to finish looting the royal palace and load the treasures into their motorcycles before heading straight to the wealthy district outside the palace.
As for the remaining guard soldiers, they had already been scared out of their wits.
Right at the palace entrance, there were just too many fallen soldiers, and they were all top-notch first-class citizens. Even they had been taken down.
Now, these second and third-class citizens turned soldiers, without any command, regardless of their greater numbers, dared not face these fierce and ruthless pirates.
In fact, these people couldn't even enter the wealthy district.
The Kingdom of Ssomia had strict hierarchical divisions. Except for those who had to engage in menial labor in wealthy areas, others were not allowed to go to places higher than their own social status.
However, first-class citizens were already scarce in the Kingdom of Ssomia, and the higher-level nobility didn't even need any lower-class citizens around them.
Only first-class citizens could serve the nobility.
There were about five thousand soldiers in total, shaken by Sag's Conqueror's Haki, all of whom were first-class citizens and nobles allowed near the royal palace.
And once these people disappeared, it created a peculiar spectacle.
Less than a hundred pirates ran amok in the wealthy district, while tens of thousands of soldiers on the outskirts just watched, without any desire to step in.
Even as those nobles whose escorts had been taken out screamed themselves hoarse, they remained as stiff as wood, just watching from the edge of the wealthy district.
Now that the army of first-class citizens was gone, what could these lower-class soldiers do?
Anyway, they weren't stealing from them.
Some soldiers were tempted to rush in when nobles offered to elevate their status, but just as they had this thought, Hawkins walked out, holding the king's head by its hair, and threw the corpse away in full view of everyone.
Those soldiers, in their terrified state, turned and ran.
The king was dead!
What good was status now?
"Drawback," Hawkins said, looking at the scattered people dressed completely differently from the fallen soldiers, looking even a little poor as they fled. He spoke indifferently, "As long as you take care of the strong ones, the rest will naturally run away, just like pirates."
The Kingdom of Ssomia had a standing army of two hundred thousand?
These troops, composed of first-class citizens, probably numbered only about twenty thousand. Taking out these two thousand soldiers effectively left the country defenseless.
Box after box of gold, silver, jewels, and Berry were carried out of these lavishly decorated skyscrapers and mansions. On each motorcycle, at least half of the nine-person crew were either hugging boxes or carrying sacks on their backs.
And on one of the motorcycles, two people were carrying a golden throne with velvet swan upholstery, handling it gently as if afraid of damaging the throne.
After the looting, Sag, of course, took away the throne that had caught his eye.
This seat would be perfect for the conference room; it felt like a good match.
"My boys!"
Sag stood on top of one of the motorcycles and waved his arm to the south. "Let's go!"
The motorcycles rumbled with their unique engine noise, and a trail of smoke rose from their tails as they sped towards the southern city.
In just half a day, the motorcycles arrived at the southern port city of 'Selfbury'.
They arrived just after the Grim Reaper had reached the port, as the battle had only recently ended.
As soon as they entered the city, Sag furrowed his brows, and his figure leaped into the air, treading out a few smoke rings before appearing at the port.
There, lying on the ground, were almost a thousand soldiers, not injured but unconscious, their eyes rolled back and their mouths hanging open.
And in the center of these soldiers stood the golden-haired, big-wave man they hadn't seen in a week, looking a little more stern, his hand on his sword hilt, the white lightning still sheathed.
And around her was a white, lightning-like, mist-like 'energy flow' that seemed to be dissipating.
That feeling...
"Lily?"
Sag appeared in front of Lily, looking puzzled. "What's this about?"
"Sag!"
Lily had just exhaled softly when she saw Sag suddenly appear, causing her to pause momentarily before her eyes lit up with delight. She instinctively wanted to go over and give him a hug, but she quickly restrained herself.
She forcibly stopped herself from taking a step forward and said seriously, "I didn't embarrass you, Sag!"
"You're still worried about that?"
Sag appraised her up and down. "A woman with the Conqueror's Haki, how could you possibly embarrass me?"
As soon as he entered the city, he had sensed that someone was releasing Conqueror's Haki!
Having the potential was one thing, but being able to release it was another matter entirely.
He had thought that there was an enemy in this city with potential, but when he took a look...
It was their own navigator!
He hadn't seen her in a week, and now she had taken the throne?
"That's right, just like yours, Conqueror's Haki!"
Lily scanned the soldiers lying on the ground and said firmly, "As your navigator and officer, I will become stronger!"
"From the results we've seen,"
Sag patted Lily's shoulder and laughed, "Not bad at all!"
This was not just an officer, but a potential future partner in crime! However, the Heavenly Disaster Pirate Group did not have the position of a deputy captain, and Sag had no intention of creating one. There was no concept of a 'deputy landlord' either.
But without that title, if someone were to be acknowledged as such, it would be a testament to their capability.
After his initial surprise, Sag didn't find it strange that Lily had the potential to be a ruler.
It was indeed a good ability to have, as it would enhance their combat strength. At the very least, during future heists, Sag wouldn't need to use his Conqueror's Haki himself; Lily could take care of intimidating the weak-willed opponents.
A good thing, indeed.
As for whether someone with the potential to be a ruler would be willing to play second fiddle...
Sag was never worried about such things.
A ruler among pirates...
Was still a pirate, after all.
There was no real difference.
"Captain! You're back!"
"Captain Sag!"
"Captain! It's great to have you back! Now that you're here, we'll have smooth sailing again!"
The looting in the southern city was also swiftly concluded. With the lesson learned from the northern city, Lily first took care of the guard captains who might have tried to incite the soldiers, making the rest of the operation a breeze.
Without any obstruction from those seeking to climb the social ladder, even at the cost of their lives, their plundering went exceptionally smoothly. They quickly ransacked the wealthy district and carried away the supplies they needed.
"It's been a while, my Grim Reaper!"
At the port, Sag laughed heartily at the sight of the black ship docked there. He stepped onto the gangplank and onto the deck, only to see...
"Rosie?"
Sag looked at the man hanging from the mid-section of the mast, his back torn open, ribs protruding like wings, and asked in confusion, "What happened here?"
"Lord Sag, you're finally back!"
Lasse quickly scurried over, his voice filled with excitement, but then he added bitterly, "He betrayed us, so I punished him!"
As he spoke, he stole nervous glances at Sag, unsure of how the latter would react.
Although Lily had given him permission, Sag was still unaware of what had transpired.
If Sag disagreed... he would have to face the consequences.
"How long has he been hanging there? He's starting to stink! Get him down and toss him out, then find a few people to clean up this mess. Don't hang random things on the ship."
Sag tugged at his lips and knocked on Lasse's forehead before heading toward the banquet hall on the first floor, shouting along the way,
"Prepare a feast to celebrate my return from Impel Down and our successful heist!"
