Chapter 204: Plan to Conquer Giratina!
Chapter 204: Plan to Conquer Giratina!
There was still a big bowl of Poison Mushroom Soup left.
Naoki sat at the dining table, this time not in a hurry to drink it.
Before that, he needed to figure out a few things.
From the chatter of the Aiguanshi siblings and Guler, he learned that after drinking the soup, he didn't just pass out and enter the Reverse World.
Correspondingly, if he moved around in the Reverse World, his physical body in the real world would move as well.
And the zero-gravity environment of the Reverse World didn't affect him either; previously, when he thought he was floating, it was actually his brother, Aiguanshi, using his psychic powers to catch him before he fell off the bed.
"It feels... a bit like wearing a VR headset," Naoki murmured to himself.
However, this made things much simpler.
It meant that he hadn't truly entered the Reverse World; he was just perceiving it through some sort of special means.
"I wonder if I'll be able to explore more if I drink the soup somewhere more spacious?" Naoki's thoughts began to wander.
He decided to give it a try on the ranch's lawn later.
But before that, he needed to come up with a detailed plan.
It was obvious that obtaining the Water of the Reverse World wouldn't be easy.
Since he wasn't truly entering the Reverse World, even without Giratina's presence, he wouldn't be able to bring any of the water out.
Moreover, as the ruler of the Reverse World, Giratina probably wouldn't allow anyone to invade its domain without invitation.
Everything always came back to Giratina.
If he wanted to obtain the mythical Water of the Reverse World, he had to first make contact with Giratina.
He needed to increase its favorability towards him, build a good relationship, and get it to "invite" him into the Reverse World.
Approaching it directly was better than sneaking around.
But how to go about doing that was another question altogether.
Giratina was a fierce and destructive beast, and the challenge of conquering it was obviously not going to be as simple as conquering a small Eevee.
"What about offering it delicious food?" Naoki fell into deep thought. "No, that probably won't work."
Beasts like Giratina didn't need to eat; they could survive solely by absorbing the energy around them.
At their level, eating wasn't a necessity, and while delicious food might be tempting, it probably wouldn't have as much pull as he imagined.
Moreover, he currently had no way to bring food into the Reverse World.
"I can always try it if the opportunity arises later, though."
Besides that...
Perhaps he could first get it used to his presence, accustomed to his visits.
Just like how humans get used to each other's company.
He could visit the Reverse World every day, greet it, and chat with it.
Once Giratina accepted his presence and got used to their interactions, he could then suddenly stop one day.
Naoki began to imagine the outcome of such a plan in his mind.
If Giratina had an introverted and insecure personality, it might start to wonder if it had done something wrong, feel anxious, and want to continue their interactions. Then, he could take the opportunity to get closer to it.
—But it was obvious that such a scenario was impossible.
With Giratina's personality, it would more likely fly into a rage and come after him...
Naoki quickly stopped his train of thought.
No matter which plan he chose, it wouldn't be accomplished in a day. If he wanted to obtain the Water of the Reverse World, he would first have to go through this lengthy implementation phase.
Naoki named it the "Plan to Conquer Giratina."
Of course, there was a second option as well.
He could go into the Reverse World and provoke Giratina relentlessly.
Once Giratina was enraged beyond reason, it would break through the dimensions and enter the real world.
Then, he could gather the entire ranch's forces to battle this formidable boss, subdue it, and use its powers to obtain the Water of the Reverse World.
However, Naoki didn't think he had the strength for that, and even if he succeeded, both sides would suffer heavy losses.
He didn't desperately need the Water of the Reverse World, so he preferred the first option, which would cause minimal damage to the ranch.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Naoki had formulated a comprehensive and detailed plan in his mind.
He called over the Aiguanshi siblings and asked them to watch over him as he drank the now-cooled Poison Mushroom Soup once more.
Instantly, the world around him burst into vibrant colors.
As his head spun and his body felt light, Naoki fell to the ground with a thud.
When Naoki opened his eyes again, he had once again arrived in the Reverse World.
This time, however, he wasn't on the floating island from before; instead, he was simply floating in the void.
However, Naoki wasn't worried because he knew that Giratina had already sensed his arrival.
This time, he didn't go anywhere and simply sat cross-legged in the void, quietly waiting for Giratina to arrive.
And so, when Giratina flew over, it saw the human, who had been coming and going in its domain, sitting calmly in the void.
Giratina's eyes narrowed, and a nameless rage began to burn within it.
How bold of this human! To dare provoke it!
Does he think this is a playground? Does he think it's a pushover?
This was its territory!
Giratina's massive body glided through the void, and the malicious aura within it transformed into an energy storm that blasted out from its body.
Naoki: "???"
He instinctively raised his hand to protect himself but soon realized that the energy storm couldn't harm him at all!
Naoki sat there in the middle of the energy storm, completely bewildered.
What was going on? Why was Giratina acting so crazy?
Giratina, on the other hand, was puzzled to see the human unharmed and sitting calmly.
"?"
"Hello?" Naoki waved at Giratina.
Giratina immediately snapped back to attention.
It felt even angrier now, certain that the human was provoking it.
Hmph!
Giratina swung its massive dragon tail, but once again, it passed right through the human.
Naoki immediately realized something was wrong.
Perhaps, in Giratina's eyes, his actions were seen as acts of provocation!
It was like someone was hitting you, and you casually asked if they had eaten yet—heaven and earth as his witnesses, Naoki felt extremely wronged; he never had such intentions!
Naoki's face, which had initially shown fear and trepidation, now wore a blank expression as he watched the terrifying energy storms capable of tearing space apart head towards him.
However, seeing this, Giratina only attacked with more fervor.
At the same time, the two neighbors living next to Giratina opened their eyes.
They looked at the space wall that was trembling from the powerful energy with confusion, a question forming in their minds.
What was that guy doing?
Naoki's mind raced.
What should he do? Just as Giratina's Shadow Ball passed through him once more, an idea struck Naoki.
That's it!
He fell to the ground, closed his eyes, and held his breath, pretending to be dead.
Seeing this, Giratina stopped, breathing heavily. Its chest heaved, whether from anger or exhaustion.
Watching the human's "corpse" disappear from its domain, Giratina gradually calmed down.
That's what you get for provoking it!
It twisted its massive body and flew towards the distant void.
After fifteen minutes had passed, Aiguanshi's sister fed Naoki a Pecha Berry.
Naoki opened his eyes and sat up from the grass, smacking his lips.
Tsk, as expected of the short-tempered big bro Giratina!
"No wonder it dragged Dialga back into the Reverse World after the big battle."
Naoki recalled that in the movie, Dialga and Palkia's battle in Hearthome City had affected Giratina's Reverse World.
Enraged, Giratina sought revenge and pulled Dialga, who was on his way home, into the Reverse World, accidentally bringing along a Shaymin as well.
Using Shaymin's Seed Flare, Dialga escaped the Reverse World and used Roar of Time to seal it, trapping Giratina and preventing it from leaving.
This led to the events of the movie "Giratina and the Sky Warrior."
Interestingly, after the movie ended, Giratina didn't give up its quest for revenge. It relentlessly pursued Dialga all the way to Michina.
Only when Arceus awoke from its slumber did they both return to their respective domains.
With such a temperament, if Naoki hadn't played dead and if the fifteen-minute mark hadn't passed, Giratina might have kept using its signature moves until it exhausted itself.
However, there was one thing Naoki couldn't understand—why had Giratina suddenly attacked him this time?
"Could it be because I've been entering and exiting the Reverse World multiple times?"
Naoki felt this was highly possible.
After all, the Reverse World was Giratina's domain, and his actions could be seen as acts of provocation.
"Sigh, it looks like the plan to conquer Giratina is going to be a long and challenging journey!"
Naoki couldn't help but let out a sigh.
It was already evening.
In order to continue with his plan, Naoki once again headed to the back mountains with a basket on his back, intending to gather more poisonous mushrooms.
The autumn mountains were like a vast treasure trove for farmers running a ranch.
All sorts of tree fruits, wildflowers, mushrooms, hazelnuts, and a variety of herbs grew in abundance.
On this trip to the mountains, Naoki encountered a fellow farmer who was also there to gather produce.
Naoki had seen this person at the festival; it was Tofer, the owner of the neighboring ranch.
Tofer had a distinctive appearance, with a long face and a classic goatee on his chin, always dressed in brown overalls.
From a distance, Naoki recognized him.
The two men greeted each other.
Tofer energetically said, "Good afternoon, Naoki! What a coincidence, you're here to pick mushrooms too!"
Naoki smiled and nodded. "Yes!"
He glanced at Tofer's basket and saw that it was already filled with all sorts of produce, including mushrooms, tree fruits, and hazelnuts that squirrel Pokemon loved to eat.
As Naoki looked, Tofer also peeked into his basket.
Upon seeing the contents, Tofer was startled.
He pointed at the mushrooms in Naoki's basket and exclaimed, "You can't eat those! They're highly toxic and could land you in the hospital! Oh dear, that won't do, throw them away quickly!"
Naoki: "..."
He earnestly replied, "Don't worry, Mr. Tofer. I know these mushrooms are for feeding my Poison-type Pokemon. They especially love eating these."
Tofer had never visited Naoki's ranch and assumed he actually had Poison-type Pokemon.
Hearing this, Tofer heaved a sigh of relief. "You scared me. I thought you were planning to make soup with them."
"How could I?" Naoki smiled.
"That's good," Tofer laughed. "You know, I heard from Mayor Thomas that this is your first time running a ranch and you don't have any farming experience, so you might not be able to tell which mushrooms are poisonous and which aren't."
Naoki quickly replied, "Mayor Thomas gave me a book on ranch management, which included a section on identifying mushroom types. This trip, I specifically came to gather poisonous mushrooms. Look!"
Naoki showed him the mushrooms in his basket.
Tofer looked down and indeed saw a basket full of poisonous mushrooms, without a single edible one.
"Your Poison-type Pokemon are in for a treat!" Tofer said, pointing in a direction. "Over there, there are lots of poisonous mushrooms. If you need them, feel free to pick them all."
Hearing this, Naoki's eyes lit up. "Great, I'll take a look. Thank you so much, Mr. Tofer!"
Tofer laughed heartily. "We're neighbors, and thanks to you, ever since the shrine to Reigwanwang was erected on your ranch, the crops on my farm have been growing exceptionally well this year. Go ahead!"
Naoki: "..."
Reigwanwang truly was a benevolent deity!
He smiled and thanked Tofer, then headed toward the indicated direction with his basket on his back.
There lay a thick tree trunk, hollow inside, surrounded by a damp and dark environment that fostered the growth of numerous mushrooms.
Naoki looked down and, as expected, found a large number of poisonous mushrooms growing nearby.
After collecting a full basket of poisonous mushrooms, he returned to the ranch with satisfaction.
He planned to keep these mushrooms for gradual consumption, drying and storing any leftovers.
Naoki intended to collect as many poisonous mushrooms as possible this autumn, using them as a bridge to the Reverse World.
Since they weren't lethal, he might as well feast on them!
So, early the next morning, after finishing the ranch work, Naoki once again drank the Poison Mushroom Soup.
This time, Naoki had fully learned from his previous lessons. Instead of acting as casually as he would in his own home, he stood respectfully in place, like a guest, awaiting the true master of the Reverse World.
A few minutes later, just as Naoki had expected, Giratina's massive form appeared before him once more.
"?"
Giratina was stunned, staring down at the human, its mind filled with shock.
What... What was going on?
Hadn't this intruder already been defeated by its Shadow Ball?
