Chapter 204: Great Lover Poet's New Skin
Chapter 204: Great Lover Poet's New Skin
The following day.
Friday morning.
The skyline gradually turned crimson with the bright dawn, and as the sun rose, its rays penetrated the wooden fence of the balcony, casting dancing shadows on Lanchi's body, long and slanted in the early morning light.
A meticulously crafted wicker chair sat quietly on the balcony, beside a glass coffee table bearing several books on magical engineering, their pages fluttering in the breeze as if retracing Lanchi's reading from the night before.
A gentle breeze wafted in from the distant garden, carrying with it the scent of flowers that gently caressed Lanchi's face.
"Lanchi, hurry up and make some magic cards with me."
Great Lover Poet, who had just been summoned, went to fetch the watering can to water the flowers as usual, and seeing Lanchi feeding the birds leisurely on the ground as always, her first instinct was to come over and kick him a couple of times.
"I know... Yesterday, I bought a lot of materials and experimented with them until dark... Now I'm all set and just waiting to craft them with you."
Lanchi, still half-asleep, fed his animal friends.
After returning from the Shadow World, Lanchi had a few fulfilling days.
The first afternoon back, he visited his father, then asked Talia to look after Hyperian in the evening. The next day, he sparred with Adams and persuaded Phoenix, and on the third day, he shared the good news with Dean Lorren.
Today was the last working day of the week, and after feeding his animal friends and creating a new skin for Great Lover Poet, Lanchi planned to head to the student council if he had time to see if they needed any help.
Of course, it seemed his home had gained another frequent visitor besides Great Lover Poet.
Cat Boss had been coming to Lanchi's home these past two days.
The previous night, he had spotted a small black cat jumping onto the balcony and had opened the door to let it in.
The little black cat was still lazily sleeping, sprawled on Lanchi's sofa, reluctant to get up.
However, the Great Lover Poet, who had been watering the flowers, had disappeared.
Unbeknownst to Lanchi, she had already run back into the living room.
"When did you get a little kitty?"
Great Lover Poet picked up the little black cat from the sofa, cradling it like a baby and swaying it gently, though it was unclear if she intended to wake it up or lull it back to sleep.
"Meow..."
Cat Boss opened his eyes sleepily.
And he beheld a smiling Tata, a hint of sweetness playing at her lips.
He must have been dreaming! To see Tata smiling so happily!
No, wait, she's a demon!
"Who are you, meow!"
Cat Boss immediately jumped out of Great Lover Poet's arms, full of vigilance as he demanded an answer while keeping his distance.
The allure in her eyes and the unique floral fragrance about her were not that of Tata!
Great Lover Poet merely stood there, smiling, with no intention of harming Cat Boss.
"She's my favorite card," Lanchi explained, turning his head from the balcony. "Be careful. Even though she's only Level One, she's the big boss in the endgame."
He stood up, put away the bag of feed, and strolled back into the living room, placing the feed bag in the cabinet before heading toward the Card Crafting Workshop.
"How could she possibly be... a summon?"
Cat Boss's eyes widened in disbelief as he circled the cheerful version of Tata, scrutinizing her with suspicion after hearing Lanchi's words.
She was clearly a living, breathing demon!
The subtle nuances of her expressions and the aura of life she exuded were beyond the capabilities of any summon.
"Great Lover Poet, let's get to work too."
Lanchi grasped the doorknob of the Card Crafting Workshop and pushed it open, gesturing to Great Lover Poet in the living room.
"Get to work? What are you guys up to?"
Cat Boss called out, perplexed.
He knew that the massive modified storage room Lanchi had was used for card crafting.
"Making cards, of course," Great Lover Poet replied with a grin.
"Are you kidding me? Since when do summons know how to make cards, meow!"
Cat Boss felt that Great Lover Poet was treating him like a dim-witted cat!
The idea of a summon making magic cards was preposterous.
"Hmph, if I weren't just Level One, the magic cards I'd make would be the best in the world!"
Great Lover Poet boasted, hands on her hips, to Cat Boss.
"Go ahead and blow, you little demon!"
In all his life, Cat Boss had never seen a summon who was adept at magic cards.
But Great Lover Poet didn't argue with Cat Boss; she was confident and didn't care if others believed her or not.
"See you next time, little kitty."
Great Lover Poet crouched down and smiled playfully at Cat Boss before turning and running towards Lanchi's Card Crafting Workshop with light, quick steps.
Nonetheless, Cat Boss was stunned by Great Lover Poet's sentience for several seconds.
He still found it hard to believe that she was a summon.
"You... you wouldn't do anything unforgivable to Tata with your own summon, would you, meow?!"
Cat Boss asked Lanchi warily, his senses suddenly on high alert.
He could tell that the gray-haired, red-skirted summon was a succubus! And her voice carried a bewitching allure, a combination of her beauty and Tata's looks that few men could resist!
"What are you thinking about...?"
Lanchi looked at Cat Boss, confused.
If he were susceptible to Great Lover Poet's influence, he would have become her slave long ago, his heart and mind manipulated by her words and enchanting melody.
She was a naturally dangerous magic card with the 'Devour Master' attribute. To harness her power, the prerequisite was to have an unwavering heart, immune to her charms.
Once Great Lover Poet entered the Card Crafting Workshop, Lanchi closed the door behind them.
However, he felt that Cat Boss was suspicious of him, so he left the door ajar, allowing Cat Boss to peek inside.
In the living room, Cat Boss felt that Lanchi was becoming more and more unusual, and he needed to step up his observations! Yet, he was also a bit afraid to enter Lanchi's Card Crafting Workshop, as the man's card-making process was too bizarre.
So, he could only crouch at the entrance of the workshop, peeking inside with his head lowered.
He wanted to see what these two were up to.
...
In the center of the Card Crafting Workshop was a sofa-style long chair in front of the workbench.
Great Lover Poet sat next to Lanchi.
They were both focused on the task at hand, resembling two pianists about to perform a four-hand duet.
The table was orderly yet cluttered, with each page carefully categorized and laid out. Perhaps they had been frequently browsed, analyzed, and discussed, leaving faint traces and creases, indicating that Lanchi had prepared well in advance.
"Great Lover Poet, I'll make you a Demon skin first. If I can disguise you as another type of demon, what would you like?"
Lanchi asked Great Lover Poet.
Today, he planned to make two skins for her, just in case.
With [Transformation Technique: Demon] and [Transformation Technique: Human] as the base, he could currently make two types of skins for Great Lover Poet, with different races to choose from.
Lanchi decided to start with the simpler one.
Although he couldn't change her physical features, he hoped to alter her image significantly. At the very least, he wanted to ensure that she wouldn't be easily recognized in the Northern Continent based on her race, hair color, or clothing.
"Hmm... a Dragon Demon," Great Lover Poet replied after some thought, her index finger resting on her lips.
"Why a Dragon Demon?" Lanchi asked, slightly surprised. It was the opposite of her original skin's race, and he didn't think Great Lover Poet was the type to pursue power.
As far as Lanchi knew, Talia wasn't a succubus but a pure demon species. However, he didn't understand why the demon created using the ['Book of Mercy'] had its race automatically changed to a succubus.
"Don't you think it's cool?" Great Lover Poet asked, tilting her head.
"Alright, then do you have any preferences for hair and eye color?" Lanchi nodded, understanding her choice.
"Eye color doesn't matter for the demon skin... How about red for the hair color?" Great Lover Poet suggested.
"Red?" Lanchi confirmed.
"Yes, red hair is the most beautiful," Great Lover Poet replied, searching the table for ink to show Lanchi the exact shade of red she wanted.
Lanchi and Great Lover Poet discussed their plans, with Lanchi sketching and Great Lover Poet offering modifications like a client.
