Chapter 204: Airborne Drop
Chapter 204: Airborne Drop
The tall black man stopped a hundred meters away, taking a keen interest in Ji Xinghuo and the others. The silent and invisible Phantom was of no use against him.
Ji Xinghuo and his five companions were also observing him.
This black man had a very distinctive appearance, especially his head of bright hair that was over half a meter long.
Black people typically had curly hair, but he had straightened his, each strand sleek and shiny, silky smooth, carefully groomed, and flowing gracefully behind him as the wind blew, giving him a very elegant look, like a lion's mane.
"General 'Great Lion' Kaminda!" Chi Zhonglin exclaimed in surprise.
At his reminder, the others also felt a chill run down their spines.
Under the rule of "Black King" Mongustu, the ruler of the East African Kingdom, there were eight generals who served as his right-hand men, controlling the country's military.
These eight individuals were all legendary anomalies, each with tremendous power and bearing the title of "General."
Five of these generals had made it onto the Legendary Ranking.
The "Great Lion General" Kaminda, who stood before them, was one of them. While he may not have been well-known globally, he was a terrifying figure in the African nations, especially in the East African Kingdom, where even children knew his name.
Ji Xinghuo had not known about Kaminda before. It was only when he was researching information about the East African Kingdom before their departure that he took note of this man.
He had only glanced through the information briefly, never expecting to encounter him in person.
Kaminda ranked 713th on the Legendary Ranking!
713th might not seem like a high ranking, but it already placed him at the top tier of anomalies worldwide. According to statistics, there were about two billion anomalies globally, and among them, fewer than 4,000 made it to the Legendary tier. On average, only one in every 500,000 anomalies would become a legend.
Each legendary anomaly was truly a "legend."
The Legendary Ranking established by ADC only had a thousand slots, so any anomaly who made it onto the list was an elite among legends, having defeated an average of three competitors of the same tier.
Ji Xinghuo recalled Kaminda's legendary file from ADC.
Kaminda was born in a small tribe in central Africa and grew up in the wilderness, living among fierce beasts.
When he was twelve, his parents died, and he ventured into the East African Kingdom alone. He joined the military and displayed exceptional talent, eventually being selected to join Black King Mongustu's personal guard training camp. He earned the Black King's favor and was carefully groomed, rising through the ranks until he became a legend and was bestowed the title of general.
Kaminda was ruthless and had done many shady and bloody jobs for the Black King, his hands stained with blood.
The blood of enemies, friends, and even his own kin.
But most of all, the blood of the people of East Africa.
His first profession was "Commander," a profession typically found only in the military, with the hyper-limit species "Command," allowing him to draw power from the anomalies under his command. The more anomalies he led, the greater his strength increased.
His second profession was "Giant General," a common profession.
The advancement in these two professions constituted an extremely powerful "War Marshal"!
This was a profession template born for the battlefield, like a lion king among a pride of lions. The War Marshal unified the power of the army under his command, amplifying his own strength, defense, speed, recovery, and will. As long as his army did not perish, the War Marshal would not die.
Kaminda was a Legend Second Stage.
At this moment, the more than a hundred people following him were his most trusted and core troops.
Ji Xinghuo scanned them with his eyes, noting that they were all at least high-level anomalies, with several being super anomalies.
His heart sank.
The number of troops a War Marshal could command was limited, especially the core army. On average, legendary war marshals in various countries' armies commanded around 50 troops, but Kaminda had over a hundred.
The stronger the troops a War Marshal commanded, the greater the amplification of their power.
Even though Kaminda was standing a hundred meters away and had not entered a combat state, Ji Xinghuo already felt a terrifying pressure emanating from him.
His teammates' faces were pale, their eyes filled with despair.
Even without Kaminda, the armies on the cliffs around them numbered at least two to three thousand, and the air-to-ground fighters, armored vehicles, and artillery were more than enough to ensure they would die without a burial ground.
There were also more than a dozen hunting teams nearby, watching the scene with ill intentions.
"Is all this fuss really necessary just for a monster lizard?" Chi Zhonglin muttered to himself, puzzled.
Lu Yunhai asked anxiously, "Is there some kind of misunderstanding?"
"I don't think so," Ji Xinghuo shook his head.
Yuan Chongzhen was both shocked and angry. "Why did they get here so fast, and how did they pinpoint our location?"
Upon hearing this, the teammates exchanged glances.
"Is there a mole among us?" Chi Zhonglin almost jumped up. "Or did someone plant a tracker on us without our knowledge?"
However, none of them seemed to be the culprit, at least not that they could tell at the moment.
Ji Xinghuo had already suspected something, and he said calmly, "Now is not the time to dwell on that." He took a step forward towards Kaminda.
Bang!
A loud gunshot echoed through the valley.
A large pit appeared in front of Ji Xinghuo; had he taken one more step, he would have been hit. The gunshot came from a steep cliff on one side of the valley, where a thick gun barrel protruded from the edge, revealing the upper body of a sniper, his eyes cold and unblinking as he aimed at Ji Xinghuo.
A pulse sniper rifle!
This weapon, which fired super-high-temperature plasma beams, had an effective range of up to five kilometers and was extremely powerful, capable of taking down a legend with a single shot.
Beads of sweat appeared on the teammates' faces.
Ji Xinghuo had no choice but to stand still and look towards the Great Lion General Kaminda.
"General," he greeted.
Kaminda had been observing Ji Xinghuo and the others for a while and finally spoke, "Someone has put a price on your heads, and it's an offer I can't refuse.
"No."
Kaminda stared at Ji Xinghuo, suddenly spitting out the grass stem in his mouth. He grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, and said, "I didn't want to beat around the bush with you, but I wanted to take action directly. However, the other party's offer was too high, which aroused my curiosity."
"Hehe..." He laughed inexplicably.
"Although I've killed a lot of people, I don't kill indiscriminately. I wouldn't touch anyone who I shouldn't provoke."
"I don't know you." Kaminda looked at Ji Xinghuo meaningfully. "Can you give me a reason not to kill you?"
Ji Xinghuo understood what he meant.
So he immediately said, "I am a Red Cloud Swordsman of the Sword Bureau."
"Not enough." Kaminda shook his head. "The Sword Bureau doesn't scare me yet. Let me tell you a secret. Seven swordsmen have already died in my hands, and they died miserably. I'm sorry, but I hate spy activities the most, especially those that may threaten the king's rule."
Ji Xinghuo's heart chilled.
Kaminda dared to say this openly, unafraid of retribution from the Sword Bureau.
"My name is Ji Xinghuo," Ji Xinghuo identified himself.
"Oh?"
Kaminda's eyebrows rose, and his eyes showed interest. "So you're the lucky kid who manipulated the Sword Saint. I'm jealous!" Then he searched Ji Xinghuo's body and eagerly asked, "Where is your Purple Lightning Sword?" With his strength and status, he naturally knew about the Purple Lightning Sword.
"I've already returned it to the Bureau," Ji Xinghuo replied honestly.
"What a pity!"
Kaminda shook his head regretfully, his black hair rippling like waves, "If you had brought the Purple Lightning Sword and handed it over to me, I might have considered letting you go."
However, Ji Xinghuo didn't believe his nonsense at all.
If Kaminda got his hands on the Purple Lightning Sword, the first thing he would do would be to kill and silence, never letting the Sword Bureau know that the sword was in his possession.
"Anything else?" Kaminda dragged his huge war knife in front of him and stood it upright.
Ji Xinghuo remained silent.
"Well?"
Kaminda's expression turned gloomy, like a volcano on the brink of eruption.
A terrifying aura spread out, enveloping the entire team.
The surrounding armies also prepared to open fire.
Chi Zhonglin and the others were scared stiff, their limbs turning numb. The threat of death made their hearts tremble, and they couldn't help but call out, "Xinghuo, say something!"
Ji Xinghuo turned around, and his teammates saw a brilliant smile on his face, which stunned them.
At a time like this, how could you still smile?
"General."
Ji Xinghuo finally spoke again, but his words scared his teammates to death. "The exotic beasts are our spoils of war. You don't get to touch a single one. Also, you claimed to have killed seven swordsmen of the Sword Bureau, and you will soon pay the price for that."
"It's over!" his teammates closed their eyes.
"Hahaha..."
Kaminda threw back his head and laughed wildly, about to order the elimination of these clueless Asian Commoners, but his laughter abruptly stopped.
He looked up at the sky, his expression frozen.
An eerie silence fell upon the rift valley, and Chi Zhonglin and the others were puzzled and trembling.
Suddenly, a rumbling sound came from the sky.
Like thunder, but longer and more majestic than thunder, like a dozen or so overlapping peals of thunder, drawing closer.
Everyone looked up.
In the clear sky above, a dozen black dots appeared. These dots rapidly expanded, like a group of falling meteors, descending at a nearly vertical angle to the earth, with only a slight tilt, trailing flames behind them.
They were incredibly fast, and in the blink of an eye, they were above the rift valley. Many people had already seen that they were not meteors but airborne drop pods!
Rumble, rumble, rumble...
One after another, the shuttle-shaped drop pods fell, and just before landing, the bottoms of the pods blasted out flame streams to reduce their speed, but they still slammed heavily into the ground.
The meteor-like landing, accompanied by sonic booms, made it feel like doomsday had arrived.
The entire rift valley trembled.
The drop points of the pods were obviously calculated, with a third of them falling into the rift valley, scattering around Ji Xinghuo and his team, forming a defensive circle. The remaining pods landed on either side of the rift valley, behind the armies, occupying advantageous positions.
Before the dust had settled, all the pods opened like blooming flowers, revealing their four-sided cabin doors.
A tall figure emerged from each pod.
Each of them stood over 7 feet tall, clad in black and red-trimmed powered armor that enveloped their entire bodies. They brandished massive firearms and weapons, moving with incredible speed, like a group of mobile alloy fortresses rushing forward. Although there were only 120 of them, they seemed like a thousand troops and horses, encircling the over 2,000 people inside and outside the rift valley.
Chi Zhonglin and the others were thrilled, shouting excitedly.
Kaminda, however, was both astonished and furious. His men showed fear in their eyes, unconsciously retreating.
Everyone recognized this army that had descended from the sky.
They were the strongest mutant army in human history, the world's most famous and powerful legion!
The Summer Army, the Titan Cobalt Men!
