Chapter 202: Is She So Brave?
Chapter 202: Is She So Brave?
The three naval vessels were swiftly obliterated by Lily and her crew.
With the formidable Dead Comet as their vessel and under Lily's adept command, the Disaster Pirate Crew held the upper hand in naval battles.
They could replenish their spent ammunition and gunpowder from the wreckage of the destroyed naval ships.
After dispatching the three reinforcement vessels, Lily chose not to return to port but instead patrolled the waters near the harbor.
She stayed offshore, refraining from landing, and dealt with the relentless onslaught of naval ships and the Kingdom's forces, which were now advancing toward the northern regions.
Since they were awaiting Sag, they knew he would eventually arrive or send word of his whereabouts.
However, remaining on land would be unwise, as it would make them vulnerable to being surrounded. Only by venturing into the vast ocean could they fully leverage their advantages as pirates.
The expansive sea was the most challenging place to be found and the most opportune for a counterattack.
With their ships as their only means of transportation, regardless of numbers, a single strike on their vessel could render them homeless.
Like the nearby naval base, within three days, Lily had sunk a total of seven standard naval ships and twenty armed vessels of Ssomia.
As a formidable kingdom, Ssomia possessed its own fleet, although they refrained from using the navy's name. Their vessels were primarily armed merchant ships, each equipped with cannons and crewed by sailors.
Each ship boasted a force of around one hundred and twenty men, making them a formidable force not to be trifled with. Without the official title of soldiers, they could readily serve as either navy or pirate crew.
However, in the face of the highly maneuverable Dead Comet, these armed merchant vessels met their demise in the depths of the sea. Many of their crew escaped and now lingered in the city, bracing for the pirates' potential land assault.
The Dead Comet loitered on the waters, neither advancing nor attacking, maintaining a stalemate with the city of Novbrie across the sea. Both sides seemed to have reached an unspoken agreement to remain unmoving.
As for the naval base stationed in the area, after witnessing the destruction of seven consecutive naval vessels, they were effectively depleted of their forces and could only await reinforcement from other naval units, which would take a considerable amount of time.
And during this interim...
The Dead Comet reigned supreme on the seas, and as for the future...
There would be none.
Day Three.
Ssomia Kingdom, Royal City, Palace.
Boom!!
A stone pillar plummeted from the sky, piercing the pinnacle of the palace and unleashing a massive blast wave. The force of the explosion reduced half the palace to rubble, causing the grand structure to crumble and sink lower.
Pedestrians near the palace stood stunned, their mouths agape as they beheld the collapsed remains of what used to be a majestic edifice. It took them a moment to snap out of their daze and rush into the palace to assess the situation.
The first to arrive were the palace guards, but as they stepped into the grand hall, they came to a halt, their eyes widening in astonishment.
In the spacious hall, they saw a massive indentation in the floor, filled with rubble and surrounded by pitted columns and walls embedded with stone fragments.
Littered across the hall were the bloodied and mangled bodies of the kingdom's nobility, individuals who held a higher status than first-class citizens and controlled the nation's lifeline.
And at the far end of the hall, upon the golden velvet throne with a lion's head armrest, befitting a king, sat a stranger.
The intruder had white hair and wore a blouse with a leaf-shaped hem, coarse broadcloth trousers, and tight black boots that reached halfway up their calves.
On the armrest lay a Pokegear, its receiver held by the stranger, and at their feet...
Their revered King lay prostrate, his body soaked in blood, and it was uncertain if he yet lived.
"Hello? I've landed, but I don't know where. You tell me," Sag said, his foot pressing down on the face of the crown-wearing man. "Aren't you dead yet?"
"Answer my question if you're still alive. Who are you, and where am I?"
For three days, Sag traveled, and when he felt the time was right, he finally descended.
During this journey, he only stopped once to use Moonwalk.
Of course, throwing the stone pillar did not allow for unlimited flight, and it slowed down over time. After about a day and a half, Sag used Moonwalk to hold onto the pillar and once again activated his Hundredfold Acceleration.
Only now did he discover a place that rivaled Alabasta, and so he decided to land.
Whether this was good or bad luck remained to be seen.
On the one hand, it might be considered bad luck to directly crash into the royal palace, surrounded by guards, and destroy half of it. The stone pillar couldn't withstand the impact of the accelerated descent and exploded, sending shards of rock flying and knocking down a group of people.
Without needing to ask, it was clear that these elegantly dressed individuals held high status. The man wearing a crown was unmistakably the king.
By taking out the king and important dignitaries single-handedly, Sag had put himself in a very precarious situation, and ordinarily, he would be extremely unlucky.
On the other hand, this could also be considered good luck.
At least it simplified matters.
"Are you still there?" Sag asked, giving the king a few more kicks. "So, do you know where we are?"
"Fire!"
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
At the captain's command, the soldiers behind him quickly raised their guns and fired. The lead bullets shot out from the long gun barrels, heading straight for the white-haired man.
Whoosh!
In an instant, the bullets that were about to hit him suddenly vanished.
It was as if there were some kind of all-devouring giant mouth in front of this man, swallowing up the bullets.
Sag's hand moved with a speed that was almost too fast to see, and he caught the bullets in his palm.
"Hey, don't you know who I am? Are you always this brave?" Sag clicked his tongue and flicked his wrist. "Tenfold South Dipper Pistol!"
Bang!
There was a loud blast, followed by a series of explosions behind the captain. The soldiers he had brought either had a hole blown through their heads or a huge cavity in their bodies, and they all fell to the ground.
This was the pure power of tenfold speed, without any increase in volume. But this sheer speed, combined with the tremendous force with which Sag threw the bullets, created a destructive force far beyond that of ordinary bullets.
The first effect of the MOMO fruit was that Sag, who did not know the South Dipper Sacred Fist, could now use a version of the South Dipper Sacred Fist that was even more powerful than the original.
After all, it was just about throwing things, and as long as the name was right, who could say it wasn't the South Dipper Sacred Fist?
Give him a cannon, and he could perform the ultimate Human Cannon!
The guard captain's face was covered in a cold sweat, and he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He found it hard to muster any resistance against this white-haired man, who seemed like a monster.
White hair?
The captain froze, scrutinizing the man's somewhat exasperated face and slowly recognizing it from a newspaper article he had read three days earlier.
He also remembered the recent reports about a certain pirate crew wreaking havoc in the northern cities and causing significant losses to the kingdom.
"Are you Disaster?" he blurted out.
"So we meet again," Sag said, glancing at him. "Now, I don't want to ask again."
