Chapter 202: Hals is Awesome!
Chapter 202: Hals is Awesome!
The dispersal of the Slytherin Team members significantly reduced the pressure on Ivan each time he scored. He only needed to shake off the Chaser who was trying to contain him and break through the Keeper's defense to score.
For Ivan, who had trained hard and reached near-level-five proficiency in Flight Technique, this wasn't too difficult.
Moreover, during yesterday's training, Fred had secretly asked him to try to widen the score gap as much as possible.
To be on the safe side, Ivan activated the Experience Card Mode by consuming some House Points shortly after the match began.
With a feint, he deceived the Keeper and was about to score again when he noticed Angelina in a precarious situation.
She was sandwiched between two Slytherin Beaters. Ivan immediately recognized the tactic they were using, one he had encountered during training a while back.
Back then, he had outmaneuvered the two Slytherin Chasers with his superior flying skills, making them suffer. However, Angelina clearly didn't have the same level of flying ability.
Seeing Angelina about to get hurt, Ivan quickly calculated the landing point of the ball. He then made a sprint and directed the Quaffle towards the goal post.
The Slytherin Keeper couldn't react in time and felt a bitter taste in his mouth. He had already conceded two goals in just a few minutes and was sure that Captain Marcus would scold him severely after the match.
To his surprise, Ivan's usually flawless ball control seemed to fail this time. The rapidly flying Quaffle hit the goal post and bounced away.
Not only the Keeper, but also the commentator, Jordan, was taken aback.
Jordan had been ready to cheer for Ivan's goal, but he had to swallow his words and said regretfully,
"Hals was just a bit off from scoring another goal. Everyone makes mistakes, and I suppose Hals is no exception."
After defending Ivan for a moment, Jordan turned his attention to Angelina, who was still being harassed by the two Slytherin Chasers. He spoke indignantly,
"We can see the despicable Slytherin team trying to knock Angelina off her broom. How can you treat a lady like that? This is utterly despicable!
Wait, what am I seeing? That's the Quaffle! The Quaffle saved Angelina! Hals is awesome! He didn't make a mistake at all!"
Jordan couldn't contain his excitement and shouted so loudly that his voice cracked!
After all, what happened was completely unexpected.
A moment ago, Angelina was in a precarious position, surrounded by two Slytherin players. But the next second, one of the Slytherin players was knocked off his broom by the Quaffle that bounced back from the goal post.
Angelina managed to break free from the entanglement.
Was it luck?
Jordan didn't believe in such coincidences. There was only one possibility: Ivan-Hals had deliberately aimed for the goal post from the beginning to rescue his teammate!
*Whistle!*
A sharp whistle sounded behind Jordan. It was Madam Hooch blowing the whistle to warn that hitting someone with the Quaffle was a foul!
Jordan quickly rephrased his words, speaking rapidly,
"Those were just my speculations. Please take them with a grain of salt. The real reason was an accident. Hals didn't commit a foul; it was just an accident!"
From the Slytherin stands, a chorus of boos and insults erupted. Some even threw two large dung eggs onto the stage, but Jordan managed to dodge them in time.
Madam Hooch gave Lee Jordan a stern glare, warning him to stick to the commentary and not to favor his house.
However, since Ivan did not directly hit the Quaffle at anyone, it was not technically a foul. Madam Hooch only blew the whistle as a warning, without penalizing him.
"Thanks, Ivan!" Angelina said gratefully, patting her chest after successfully breaking through the defense. She had almost thought she was going to be forced off her broom by those two Slytherins.
Ivan casually nodded and then continued the game with Angelina.
According to the strategy they had agreed upon before the match, Ivan was responsible for scoring, while Angelina was to distract the opposing Keeper or block any Slytherin players attempting to disrupt the game.
With their coordination, the Slytherin Keeper was struggling to keep up, even using a double "8" figure to fly rapidly around the three goal hoops.
Despite this, the score continued to widen.
At this moment, Harry was encountering some trouble.
The Slytherins, realizing they couldn't stop Ivan from scoring, decided to take a desperate risk. They aimed to knock Harry, the Gryffindor Seeker, off his broom before the score difference reached 150 points, allowing Malfoy to catch the Golden Snitch.
This was their only chance to win!
After failing to take down Angelina, the entire Slytherin Team focused their efforts on Harry.
Fortunately, Harry's flying skills were excellent, and his broom was only one generation behind the Nimbus 2001, so the speed difference was minimal.
With George by his side, Harry's situation, though precarious, was manageable for the moment.
Two determined Slytherin Beaters used a coordinated double hit to strike the Bludger, attempting to use its high speed to knock Harry off his broom.
Unfortunately for them, Harry quickly leaned forward and clung to his broom, narrowly avoiding the potentially fatal blow.
As the commentator, Lee Jordan was about to cheer for Harry's move when he saw the Bludger make a 180-degree turn in the air and head straight for Harry's head.
"Harry, watch out!" George, who had been alerted by Ivan, quickly reacted and fulfilled his duty as a Beater, intercepting the Bludger mid-air before it could reach Harry.
Harry was still shaken but didn't have time to thank George before he saw the Bludger coming back at him again.
George, already on high alert, immediately noticed the Bludger's unusual behavior and was about to request a pause in the game.
"No! Don't stop, just a bit longer, I see the Golden Snitch!" Harry shouted at that moment.
The sudden change on the field caught Ivan's attention. He turned his head and saw Harry being pursued by the Bludger.
Not far from Harry, Ivan's keen eyes spotted a faint golden object shimmering in the air.
George was trying his best to drive the Bludger away, but with little success.
Ivan, not too far away, quickly assessed the Bludger's flight path.
If hitting someone with the ball was not allowed, hitting the ball with another ball should be fine, right?
